Need some help with a Scottish name

[name]Just[/name] wondering what some good Scottish boy and girl names are. I cant seem to find many good lists anywhere. Thanks!

I started a thread on this a few weeks back. Here is a link to some people came up with:

Was mostly place name centred lists though so sorry if you’re not into that.

I actually generally like place names:) so thanks for the thread! Im sure it will be helpful:)

Here are some classic, accessable Scottish names :
[name]Catriona[/name] (pronounced like [name]Catrina[/name])
[name]Innes[/name] (unisex)
Keavy ([name]Caoimhe[/name])

[name]Aidan[/name] ([name]Aodhan[/name])
[name]Alasdair[/name] (anglicised to [name]Alistair[/name])
Alpin (Ailpein)
[name]Angus[/name] ([name]Aonghus[/name])
[name]Artair[/name] (anglicised to [name]Arthur[/name])
Aulay (Amhlaidh)
[name]Colin[/name] ([name]Cailean[/name])
[name]Graham[/name] ([name]Graeme[/name])
[name]Niven[/name] (Naomhan)
[name]Patrick[/name] ([name]Padraig[/name])
[name]Olaf[/name] (Amhlaidh)

A lot of English names are used in [name]Scotland[/name], simply with different spellings - [name]Isobel[/name] and [name]Iseabail[/name] for [name]Isabel[/name], Cairistiona for [name]Christina[/name], [name]Beitris[/name] for Beatice, [name]Aonghus[/name] for [name]Angus[/name], [name]Filib[/name] for [name]Philip[/name] etc.

Many names common in [name]Scotland[/name] are also used in [name]Ireland[/name], and sometimes [name]Wales[/name]. The Scottish also have a fondness for feminising unexpected names, making Donalda, [name]Jamesina[/name] et cetera. Quite a few of the names listed would probably seem dated in [name]Scotland[/name] now, or even archaic - generally, [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Isabella[/name] abound there, as well.

I think of these names as Scottish

I agree…plus, for boys:

For girls:

Loving the name [name]Lachlan[/name] at the moment!
