Your task is for you to make combos out of these names. I would prefer you to make only a couple and “sell” them to me- say what you like about it, why the names work together, what imagery they give you, why I should add them to my list… If that’s too much, you can just list of combos- but I find it helpful to hear your opinions on why you picked them!
If you would like to suggest any more Wintery names for me, see this thread Winter Names :snowflake:

Thank you!

I’ll do one for the boys and one for the girls:

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Swanhilde[/name_f] chosen because they have the same bright elegant imagery through the meaning of “light” and swans which look so elegant although they fiercely paddle below the water and they are formidable defenders of their young. Also chosen because I like the balance in Lucy’s delicate sounds and Swanhilde’s clunkiness. She’s got grit.

:sparkles: :swan: :muscle:t3:

[name_m]Vasil[/name_m] [name_m]Feodor[/name_m] chosen because together they give me golden imagery with a sweetly spiced aroma. I have synaesthesia: V, F and G are all a bright yellow/golden tone. I mention G because of Feodor’s meaning of gift, which always comes to mind with that name and makes it sparkle.

:herb: :star: :crown:

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Swanhilde[/name_f] → this gives me imagery of sparkling snow, frosted lakes and elegant swans, all white feathers, and [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] ballet shows.

[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Marilla[/name_f] → [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] has a sharp, clear sound that gives me a wintery vibe and [name_f]Marilla[/name_f] feels similar, sort of sharp and pearlescent. But there’s a cosiness to it too - knitted mittens and re-reading a childhood favourite book

[name_f]Doveva[/name_f] [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] - this reminds me of a house decorated for [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] - fir trees, candy canes, tinsel, bowls of [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] sweets, those little bird decorations you can get

[name_f]Lillemor[/name_f] [name_f]Oksana[/name_f] → she just sounds like a character out of a [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] story - something set out in the snow, slightly magical and adventurous

[name_f]Morven[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] → I’m getting imagery of snowy mountains, icy streams, snow-dusted trees - those sharp V sounds give me that cold, wintery vibe

[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Tinuviel[/name_f] - elegant, bright and distinctive - it’s giving me glitzy dresses, shades of red and gold, going home from a christmas party

[name_u]Laurence[/name_u] [name_u]Merlin[/name_u] → it’s giving me slightly nostalgic vibes, ‘old-fashioned’ houses dressed for the season, curling up with a book chosen for the season, [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]

[name_m]Sylvan[/name_m] [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] - a bit like [name_f]Lillemor[/name_f] [name_f]Oksana[/name_f], it’s giving me winter storybook vibes, a name ready for adventure

[name_u]Orion[/name_u] [name_m]Maksym[/name_m] → starry, bright, sharp and expansive, winter-sky vibes

[name_u]Monty[/name_u] [name_m]Llewellyn[/name_m] → this gives me all the cosy vibes, old toys, snow out the window, knitted jumpers

[name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m] [name_m]Melchior[/name_m] → icy, frosty moors, rugged and windswept - it’s just giving me cold vibes but in a good way

marilla nieves . . sweet twist on the traditional name maria de las nieves, which references both the dedication of the basilica of saint mary major + a biblical story in which the roman patrician & his wife made a vow to donate their possessions to the virgin mary. on 5 august, at the height of the roman summer, snow fell during the night. in obedience to a vision of the virgin mary that they had the same night, the couple built a basilica in honour of mary on the very spot that was covered with snow.
