On the blog this week, Iāve been looking back at the new additions to the database for 2024, and Iāve put together a list of some of the ones that have stood out to me.
A lot of these new names have been discovered here on the forums, so this is also just a big thank you for sharing all your sightings, knowledge, and research!
Now for the questions! Answer as few or as many as you like.
Do you have any favourites from the list? Do any surprise or intrigue you? (in a good or bad way!)
What new-to-you names have you discovered recently?
Whatās one name currently missing from the database yet that youād like to see added?
And of course, feel free to share any other thoughts !
Iāve been looking forward to sharing this one, so thank you for taking a look and taking part!!!
Always love these wrap ups! As a big [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] [name_m]Sosa[/name_m] fan, [name_m]Sosa[/name_m] is a surprising new favorite. Also love to see [name_f]Meghana[/name_f], [name_f]Arushi[/name_f], [name_f]Manisha[/name_f], & Moishy!!
Oh no
Iād really love to see Ashraqat/Ų£Ų“Ų±Ų§ŁŲ§ŲŖ (f).
Meaning ābrightness/dawnā in Arabic, and used frequently in [name_f]Egypt[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite on this list is [name_f]Saturnina[/name_f]! Iām surprised it wasnāt in the database until now, I thought Iād heard that one mentioned on the forums?
The last new name I discovered that I like is [name_f]Zakia[/name_f].
Really loving [name_f]Benny[/name_f] (g), [name_m]Sosa[/name_m], [name_m]Irinel[/name_m], [name_f]Ulalume[/name_f], [name_f]Saturnina[/name_f], [name_m]Eliron[/name_m] and [name_m]Leoluca[/name_m]! Itās also so lovely to see some of the names I suggested being featured!! Thanks again to everyone for their hard work on the database!
From my recently discovered names, Iāve really been liking the Greek Ersi (meaning ādewā)!
Definitely the hardest question of the 3!! I think Iād say Milen ā itās a name Iād consider for a future son and I think it could cross cultures well, with its cool -en ending & equally trendy [name_m]Mil[/name_m]- beginning (Ć la [name_m]Milan[/name_m], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_m]Miles[/name_m] & Milo)
@baya44 [name_m]Sosa[/name_m] is lovely, right! And I love [name_f]Manisha[/name_f], [name_m]Moishy[/name_m] and [name_f]Meghana[/name_f] too!! [name_f]Ashraqat[/name_f] is stunning!!
@lucy_halo1 [name_f]Saturnina[/name_f] was added a few months ago, but itās one thatās stood out to me since the last ānewest name blogā was made!
[name_f]Zakia[/name_f] is very cool, as is the sweet Caspia!
@tallemaja And thank you for all your suggestions!! [name_f]May[/name_f] I ask how Ersi is pronounced?
Milen is charming too - surprised it wasnāt already there!
[name_f]Messody[/name_f] as a nickname or given name was new to me, also from [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] on Tiktok. As completely unexpected of sound it may be at first, Miriamās gorgeous baby has really sold it for me.
I love [name_m]Bento[/name_m] and [name_m]Hart[/name_m], but those are not news to me. [name_f]Kova[/name_f] threw me in for a loop with the listed pronunciation. I also know of it as a nickname to other names.
Seath. [name_m]Irish[/name_m], wolf related meaning; love the idea, lost on its history
[name_f]Love[/name_f] seeing all the new names added!
[name_f]Benny[/name_f] for a girl is so sweet! Iām not familiar with the influencer who used it, but I grew up with a girl named [name_f]Benny[/name_f] (canāt remember exactly how she spelled it, though) and always liked it. [name_f]Keedie[/name_f], [name_f]Saturnina[/name_f], McCall, and [name_f]Meghana[/name_f] are my other favorites.
NoĆŖmia is my most recent discovery!
Such a hard call, but Iām going to say Lluc, Iām always surprised itās not in the database!
@moonlion [name_f]Messody[/name_f] is lovely, right! Out of interest, what names have you seen [name_f]Kova[/name_f] as a nickname for?
Ooh Seath is cool. I will look into it!
@EagleEyes [name_f]Benny[/name_f] is so sweet and fun for a girl! [name_m]Loving[/name_m] NoĆŖmia! And Iām surprised Lluc isnāt in the database too!
Massody sounds like a pretty name
[name_f]Ive[/name_f] met a little martha a few years ago and my daughter was playing with a [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] at the playground recently, which surprised me.
[name_f]My[/name_f] name : Alanda , should be added id be curious the name gurus have insights on my name, cause i cant find it anywhere!
Iāve seen [name_f]Kova[/name_f] from Nakova / Nikova and Kovacs, both pronounced with a long o like [name_m]Cove[/name_m]! Though now that I wrote it down I can see the alternate possibility of Nikova being pronounced like [name_f]Nicola[/name_f]?
@moonlion ooh never heard of Nikova. Iāve been saying [name_f]Kova[/name_f] like Cove-uh too and I think the NB description is meant to indicate (Koh like the expression āohā) but Iāll make it clearer!
[name_m]Pearl[/name_m] (b), [name_m]Irinel[/name_m], [name_f]Keita[/name_f], [name_m]Baudelaire[/name_m], [name_f]Saturnina[/name_f], [name_m]Louka[/name_m] and [name_f]Cielle[/name_f] are definitely my favourites!
Iām actually surprised to learn that [name_f]GwenaĆ«lle[/name_f] previously wasnāt on Nameberry (I must have had some sort of Mandela effect ) and glad to see [name_m]Higgins[/name_m] and [name_f]Ulalume[/name_f] added as well.
This week: Melizenn, [name_f]Arthelia[/name_f] and [name_m]Veryan[/name_m]!
Thatās tough! Maybe [name_f]Estel[/name_f] (b)? It was consistently used in early 20th century America, most likely as a masculine form of [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] / [name_f]Estella[/name_f].
This post is really making me feel how out of the name loop I am because so many seem really wild to me!
I love [name_f]Benny[/name_f] (g), [name_m]Sosa[/name_m] is adorable, [name_m]Cavidan[/name_m] is super cool. I also like [name_f]Arys[/name_f], [name_f]Sazz[/name_f], [name_f]Cielle[/name_f], [name_m]Fleury[/name_m] and [name_m]Foss[/name_m]. [name_f]Saturnina[/name_f] is glorious. Iāve just met my first [name_f]Arushi[/name_f] and immediately loved it so really pleased to see it here.
I want to like [name_f]Messody[/name_f] but canāt get over āmessā, maybe Massody instead like Masood? Also [name_m]Irinel[/name_m] ā¦I should love this name. It sounds a little elvish, it has the -el ending which I love, itās so up my street on paper but I canāt help seeing āurinalā
Also always happy to see [name_m]Hart[/name_m], long term love of mine š«¶š»š¦
According to (French) Wikipedia, Melizenn is a [name_m]Breton[/name_m] form of [name_f]Melusine[/name_f]! I do wonder whether it is ever given as a name, or only used to refer to the folklore character.
@Nessie4 thank you!! [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Sylva[/name_f], [name_m]Aleph[/name_m] and Elva!!
Tessel, Bellerophon, and Iuleta are intriguing - I will take a look into them!
