(New) Teaser Game!

Visocsi!” she yelled, chucking the second potion at the first, which now lay at the underbelly of the snake. They collided, exploding in a mass of orange goo. She dove behind another pillar to avoid being caught in the splash zone.

Next: explode

Unfortunately for the soon-to-be king, the pen exploded in his grip just as he scratched the final letter of his name—a generous blob of black ink pooled on the page in front of him. The document was ruined, no question. The papers would have to be drawn up again—an unwelcome and time-consuming task.

Next word: scratch

“I saw it with my own eyes. [name_u]Basil[/name_u], or whoever she really is- fell out of the sky, and barely has a scratch to show for it.” The man they’d called [name_m]Cap[/name_m] glared out at the endless snowy desert, his gaze eerily familiar. “I don’t need action- I need answers.”

The group that had surrounded her broke, parting to let me through. It was like an eerie recreation of the [name_u]Red[/name_u] [name_u]Sea[/name_u], except that closed for the enemies, and right now, it was doing the opposite.

Together, they trudged down to the lake, and [name_f]Corliss[/name_f] immediately darted to the opposite side.

Next word: immediate

Outside, the crowd was less dense, but the air was thick with hot, sticky smog. Anyone with any sense at all was wearing a breathing mask. Immediately [name_f]Tara[/name_f] could pinpoint the richest person on the street: a young Re woman with purple scales and a mask that covered her whole face.

Next: purple

The box was purple, covered in little pink hearts. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] found herself holding her breath as she gazed at it, as if she expected [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] to leap out from behind the curtain and yell at her to get out like any seventeen year old would do to their little sister.
But [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] wasn’t here.
She’d not set foot in this room for three years.

Next word: expect

I don’t know what I expected, but it definitely wasn’t silence. I expected yelling, swearing, maybe some sort of movement. But not for everyone to sit still and silent, like they were clay statues. Dad finally moved, resting his elbow on his knee, then his chin on his fist. He stared at the ground. Mom bristled.

Next: silence

She sat there with her two older brothers. In silence because they had no idea what to do with their parent’s things. It was difficult to say the least. To loose her parents and now not know what to do with their things, their house and well the funeral. [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] thought she’d have more time with her parents. It’s what she wished for. She felt lonely even though she wasn’t alone.

Nothing could be worse than sitting there, in silence, with her two older brothers trying to figure out how to handle this all. Why did this happen and why won’t her brothers speak? They seem so silent… Too silent.

Her hands trembled slightly as she made her way to the kitchen to find a butter knife. Her gut was telling her that whatever was in this envelope was probably going to change her life forever, and Jeudi knew better than to ignore her gut.

Next: ignore

The princess glared at him, then promptly ignored him, sitting cross-legged in the grass.

Next word: prompt

I looked back at my poem, a few pencil notes scribbled in the margins. “They’re trying to convey the theme,” I said. I didn’t really like poetry, and this poem made absolutely no sense.
“And the theme is?” Mr. [name_m]Ledger[/name_m] prompted, his British accent rough with growing frustration.

Next: frustrate

“Seriously, what’s up with Hazel?” [name_u]Liam[/name_u] frowned. “She’s so… off.”
“Frustrated,” [name_f]Ava[/name_f] says, not looking up from her book.
“Oh come on, [name_f]Ava[/name_f], I know that!”

Next word: book

Nearby, atop a rough-hewn stone pillar, lay his sacred spellbook. He snatched up the cherished thing, hastily, and tore open the front cover with reckless abandon.

Next: snatch

Still glaring, she dug in her purse for the money, before slamming the six pence on his table. She snatched the bag of dates and stomped away, her long auburn braid swinging behind her, giving the people who were watching menacing looks as she went.

Next: stomp

“No!” [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] roared and stomped his foot as loudly as he could. “Put him back. Deep-sea fishing only, Wyrm. Large squids and porpoises… and other creatures like that. No people. No ships. Got it?”

Next word: people

There’s only one thing all people’s melodies have in common, and that is that they’re melodies. They represent the parts of the person that they know. The parts of them that they’re proud of, the parts of them they’d recognize. Not the dark secrets about themselves that their minds have shoved away, never to be discovered again.

Next word: recognize

“Did you really think I wouldn’t recognize you?”

Next: you

“Oh burning biscuits, I’m so sorry. I’ll get you another loaf.”

Next: sorry

“Oops…” the princess’s mouth puckered into an “o” shape, denoting mock surprise. “So sorry.”
