[name_f]Linet[/name_f] gave him that exaggerated smile and curtsey she always gave him when he asked a favor of her.

“Is the tea to your liking, master?”

She didn’t hear his reply as she slipped the vial of deadly poison back into her apron

“That looks terrible on you,” [name_f]Natasha[/name_f] noted dully, sipping from a bottle of tea. She hadn’t tried on a single dress yet, but had just stared at me from her chair, silently judging.

Next: judge

Phineas could feel his sister’s judging gaze digging into his back as he walked out of their store and into the pouring rain. He’s out to prove her wrong, no matter what it takes.

[name_u]Sam[/name_u] poured himself another generous helping of brandy, almost exactly level with the rim of his snifter, and downed it in one go.

“That’s very nice of you, sir,” [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] found herself saying. “I really --”
She swore her heart skipped a beat as her eyes met his. The man in front of her had eyes she could recognise in an instant, because she despised how they belonged to her.
Something told her that he wasn’t being generous for the sake of his health. Her father wouldn’t be the type.
“Uncle Christopher,” [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] whispered, as though [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] wanted the confirmation.

Cobra’s house was full of wonderfully curious knick knacks from his days as a wizard. There were jars of all shapes and sizes many containing body parts belonging to various creatures.

She was sure that whatever was in the jars scattered around the room wasn’t something she particularly wanted to be anywhere near, but [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] had no choice in the matter. This wasn’t something she could ignore now, something she could pretend wasn’t happening. This was real.

[name_m]Lance[/name_m] cursed himself, silently, for being so incredibly stupid. He should have helped the unfortunate creature to her feet before ever attempting to gather her scattered books.

“I didn’t say anything—maybe on purpose—and an innocent man died!” she cried.

I watched [name_f]Natasha[/name_f] scan her face, reading it like a page in a book. “You look so, so jealous , still, Viv,” she noted aloud. “Why is that? You still love Harlem?”

Viv’s face was so tense, so taut, I was surprised her jaw didn’t snap off from the tension. “He is dead. How could I love a dead man?” She raked a hand across her face. “Look—”

The dragon soon launched out of the water, its long, tapering, ribbony body twisting acrobatically in the air. It landed with a great splash, drenching the crew with cold saltwater, as they stood tensely on deck.

Next word: twist

The snake twisted in its tank, and [name_f]Paige[/name_f] could’ve sworn the wretched thing glared at her. Something about its horrid yellow eyes caused a memory to stir in the back of her mind, but she couldn’t for the life of her remember what it was.

Next word: remember

“Yes, we were that bad. Maybe even worse than you care to remember. We used to frequent the library archives, located in the basement. Practically no one ever ventured down there; the place was very dimly lit, and we spent an indecent amount of time by ourselves — decidedly not studying. Honestly, [name_u]Mel[/name_u], you must remember that. God knows I’ll never forget.”

He looked away, his features etched with shame. “I’m starting to forget my past life. Is that normal?”
“I’m more worried about the fact that you think remembering your past life is normal.”

Normally, the king would be obliged to begin his day so early, but today was a Saturday–and a holiday to boot! He was sleeping in this morning, dammit.

[name_m]Friday[/name_m] pushed open the clear doors, shaking the little salt shaker rattle that sat above the door. Tourists seemed to love it, but Jeudi always found the sound to be chilling. This morning, though, she couldn’t help but wonder if any [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] stores had salt shaker rattles above their doors instead of bells.

Turning her attention back to the sea, [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] breathed in the salty air, reveling as the cool breeze rushed through her hair. Watching the grayish-purple clouds float along a water-colored sky, the princess felt perfectly at peace… until she heard his voice.

“Hello, Cordelia.”

Next word: hello

“Hello?” he said tentatively, after a beat. He looked out into the classroom, but saw nothing but chairs. He started to turn back to the piano keys when he saw it again.

There was definitely someone there, though it seemed that they were out in the hallway. But who on [name_f]Earth[/name_f] could be sneaking around the school at night?

“Stupid Girl With a [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] Earring ,” [name_u]Hali[/name_u] said as she pounded away at the piano keys.

[name_u]Basil[/name_u] tore her focus away from the cube as the shriek of wind echoed sharply through the room. She shivered, remembering that she was cold. Stupid winter.

Another day has almost gone, and as the pink sun dips beneath the river, she spots a silhouette on the horizon. She remains comfortably seated on her rock, as the ship comes into focus.
