Opinions on Evelina

So I absolutley adore the sound of [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. How I’m kind of worried that it is not legitimate. What do you think of [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]? I want the good, the bad, and the ugly.

i like it!!! [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is a cute nickname!
I think with the popularity of [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], it’ll be unique but not enough that it gets misspelled and mispronounced all the time.

i think it’s lovely! personally, i do prefer evangeline or evelyn, but it doesn’t sound illegitimate to me at all.

Thank you!

Thank you! [name_f]May[/name_f] I know why you prefer [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] (just curious).

i’m not really sure honestly, i just think more ‘classic’ names are my style, and i find evelina more magical almost (which isn’t a bad thing) and i like the versatility of nicknames you can have with evangeline like evie, angie, evan, ellie etc

I love [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]! I think the only thing that holds me back from it is the worry that it blends in with all the other [name_f]Eve[/name_f]- names that are big right now ([name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f]). But I feel like this is one that I keep loving more and more, so I can easily see myself getting over that.

I love it!! It’s been a total name crush of mine for years, stemming from hearing it on a youtuber’s daughter, [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] [name_f]Blossom[/name_f]. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::revolving_hearts:

I’m in the minority but I’m not a big fan. It just reminds me of ‘evil’ lina. Much prefer the classic timelessness of [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] or [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. And that’s coming from a lover of frilly feminine names!

I adore [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]!

Love! I have a love for E names, especially ones with the potential nns of [name_f]Evie[/name_f]/Eve. I adore [name_f]Eveline[/name_f], and [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]’s pretty as well!

I love it, it is in fact on my shortlist… I think it sounds much prettier that [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and it’s shorter then [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (which I also love and it [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] could be a nn for this one maybe)
I love the combo [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] [name_f]Sofie[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]. It sounds magical and it’s one of my favourites. I really like the nicknames [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lina[/name_f].

What do you mean by legitimate? [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] is definitely a real, historical name (if that’s what concerns you?) and it’s fairly common in some countries like [name_u]Sweden[/name_u].

I hear “evil”.

I really like [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]! It seems whimsical, graceful, and like the name of a main character in a children’s novel. I would imagine an [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] to be very happy, caring, and imaginative. However, I feel that the sound is very sweet and doesn’t age very well. But that is of course wholly subjective!

Are you pronouncing it eh-vuh-lee-na or ee-vuh-lee-na? I’m never sure how to say it because I’ve never heard it said irl. [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and I’ve never been a fan of [name_f]Eve[/name_f] variants but I think that’s honestly just because I’ve had a lot of people always ask me if my name is [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] etc and in school there were Evies and Evelyns that I was often confused with. Of course I just have an individuality complex and think my name is the superior variant lol. I like [name_f]Evelyne[/name_f] (the french spelling of [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]) but [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] just feels ever so slightly too frilly for me but I do get the appeal, it offers nice nicknames and is familiar enough but not popular.

According to this Nameberry article, [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] was popularized by a novel in 1778 and was a key reason why [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] grew in use for girls not just boys. So that sounds like a substantial history to me! I like it a lot ( I’m partial to girls names that end in a, ever since I studied Russian)
