Is [name]Phoenix[/name] usable for a boy? Possible combination would be [name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Jasper[/name], but we aren’t exactly sure on the MN (except that it will clearly be masculine). Thoughts?
I think [name]Phoenix[/name] is only usable on a boy. I HATE this name on a girl. I think it’s strong, handsome, and I love the ties to the mythological bird that is reborn from it’s own ashes. Gorgeous name!
[name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Jasper[/name] is a pretty cool combo too
I love [name]Phoenix[/name], and I think it’s more male than female imo.
Though, I once heard a child tease a boy name [name]Phoenix[/name] by calling him “Penis”.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Jasper[/name].
I think it works well for a boy and [name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Jasper[/name] is incredibly handsome. I love that the “traditional” name still isn’t super common but a very distinctive alternative should your son ever feel he needs something more mainstream. ([name]Jasper[/name] is also one of my all time favorites - it just doesn’t meet my tri-lingual requirement as the Ja sounds so different in [name]German[/name], English and Spanish).
I was thinking about posting a poll asking whether people think [name]Phoenix[/name] is best on a boy, a girl or if they consider it truly unisex. I am glad someone kinda of beat me to it.
I have it on my middle names’ list, and contemplated moving it up to my first names’ lists. I even asked hubby about it, but he didn’t give me a clear answer.
As a middle name I would use it on either a boy or a girl. As a first name I would only use it on a boy. I do consider it unisex, but it comes across as more masculine than feminine imo and I prefer feminine names for girls. That’s just my personal taste.
I love [name]Phoenix[/name], and will probably end up using it, although I am not sure how yet.
[name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Jasper[/name] is handsome.
I would do;
[name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Darwin[/name]
[name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Magnus[/name]
[name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Damian[/name]
As a middle name I like:
[name]Xavier[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name]
[name]Magnus[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name]
[name]Damian[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name]
Actually one of the things I don’t like about [name]Phoenix[/name] is that it seems like one of those neo-macho nouveau names like [name]Diesel[/name] and [name]Ace[/name]. It’s technically unisex, but I loathe it on a girl, although it does rank in the top 1000 (still much lower for girls, though.)
Overall I think it’s a good name. I like the sentiment.
It definitely reads masculine to me, but I don’t care for it generally. It sounds a little try hard.
Interesting, but kids will be kids I suppose. Teasing is inevitable no matter what we do. Anyways, I think it’s more male than female too but I’ve also heard it’s unisex.
I think it’s more male than female too.
I don’t really like it on a girl, although it would depend on the girl’s personality.
So interesting…
[name]River[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name] was a man no matter he ended bad so [name]Phoenix[/name] sounds masculine to me. I think it’s a great boy name(I loathe it on a girl though).
I don’t think it has any teasing potentional, but if kids want to tease little [name]Phoenix[/name], they will find the way to do it.
I love [name]Phoenix[/name] as a girl’s name, I think it’s a bit too feminine sounding for a boy.
I didn’t know that, how interesting.
In the USA, I’d say it’s more masculine than feminine. I’ve only ever heard it on a male. It sounds masculine to me, similar to [name]Felix[/name]. Off the top of my head I can’t think of a feminine name that’s similar. [name]Phoebe[/name] would be the closest.
I didn’t know that, that’s interesting. I do appreciate the information. We live in the United States and I currently doubt that I or any of my children would be able to afford to go to another country (at least until they are adults with their own jobs etc, after that I cannot say of course).
[name]Phoenix[/name] is all boy to me. I have met quite a few [name]Phoenix[/name]'s, it is strong and handsome to me.
I like [name]Phoenix[/name] for a boy, it is my fiancé’s favorite boys name! [name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Jasper[/name] is a cool combo.
My boys name is [name]Diesel[/name] axel-lee and we love i dont care
wat other ppl think its wat we choose your name phoenix is aw some u so should use. it who wants a plain name boaring it 2013
I think [name]Phoenix[/name] is a rare breed in that it truly works on both genders equally well. It’s very edgy sounding.
[name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Hayes[/name] sounds better than [name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Jasper[/name]. [name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Jasper[/name] doesn’t seem to flow right.
I also, having a connection to the Chinese culture, would never use [name]Phoenix[/name] on a boy. The phoenix in [name]China[/name] (and some other countries of [name]East[/name] [name]Asia[/name]) is very much a feminine symbol (as opposed to the male ‘dragon’ symbol). While the name [name]Phoenix[/name] seems like a male name according to my American ear, it feels very very much like a feminine symbol due to my knowledge of [name]East[/name] [name]Asian[/name] culture. I personally would never use this name (even if I loved it) specifically because of this reason. [name]Even[/name] if I personally didn’t have a connection to Chinese/[name]East[/name] [name]Asian[/name] culture, a very large amount of people do, so tons of people will make this [name]Phoenix[/name]= ‘symbol of female’ association (the 1/5 of the world’s population who lives in [name]China[/name] + the many many others all throughout the world who have connections to this region of the world)
