What do you think? Is Rowan best suited for a boy or a girl?
Sorry! Can’t figure out how to create a poll :-/

I generally prefer it for a boy nowadays, but I think it works perfectly fine on either. I think for a boy, [name]Rowan[/name] has a strong, masculine beginning sound (ROH) but for a girl, the soft WEN ending is nice.
It’s equally unisex to me, honestly. Either or, 50/50.
I would lean toward the traditional usage for a boy.
Personally, I love it for both genders. But if I had to choose, I’d say girl.
I like it for both, although I do envision a boy…
I prefer it for a boy.
I know it is equally unisex but I prefer it for a girl…the nn [name]Ro[/name] reminds me of [name]Rosie[/name]. But I know a [name]Roman[/name] nn [name]Ro[/name] and it works too. I plan to use it for my baby girl. If we were having a boy we would have gone with another name.
These days, I see [name]Rowan[/name] more as a girl’s name. I’m fine with seeing it on a boy though.
[name]Both[/name]! I think most nature names can get away with being used for either gender.
I like it for a boy more than a girl.
If I recall correctly when you go to make your post there is a choice to include a poll, the poll doesn’t show up until you hit “make post”, then it takes you to a page where you can create a poll question and answers. [name]Hope[/name] this helps!
I think of it as a girl name but that might be because it’s my younger sister’s middle name
I do see it more as a boy’s name but being a nature name I do think it can work on either and I actually know of a girl named [name]Rowan[/name].
I think it is truly unisex (I’ve met both boys and girls who wear it well) but I vastly prefer it on a girl. It sounds so soft and naturey.
I’ve known three male Rowans, so it’s all boy to me.
Boy and girl.
Initially, I thought it sounded a bit feminine, but a friend of mine has an infant son named [name]Rowan[/name]. It really suits him, especially since he is a ginger!
I’d prefer [name]Rowena[/name] on a girl than [name]Rowan[/name]. If I really loved “[name]Rowan[/name]”, I’d save it for my future son - not a daughter.
I have only ever known male Rowans.
I only came across [name]Rowan[/name] as a unisex or female name here on Nameberry. I suspect that it is more commonly unisex in USA/[name]Canada[/name] and mainly male in Australia & the UK (I’d be interested if others agree).
I agree with Irmum. I’m from Aus and had never heard of [name]Rowan[/name] as a girls name before nameberry.
I know several young male [name]Rowan[/name]'s and went to school with a male [name]Rohan[/name] (pronounced the same way).
To me, [name]Rowena[/name] is for girls like [name]Georgia[/name] is for girls, but not [name]George[/name].
