[name_f]Araminta[/name_f] - It sounds so sweet and magical to me!
[name_f]Amaranth[/name_f] - Such a cool botanical name that puts a twist to [name_f]Amara[/name_f]!
[name_f]Calluna[/name_f] - [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] sound and great nicknames!
I think it’s more common in Europe. [name_m]Dutch[/name_m], Greek and [name_u]French[/name_u] for sure and probably more! OH-pal is pretty too, I just prefer the other pronunciation (:

Anything to get to Polly!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Polly[/name_f]! There’s another one that doesn’t get enough appreciation!
Absolutely! I’ve written on nameberry about my cheery altar ego, young [name_f]Polly[/name_f]. [name_f]Polly[/name_f] is the perfect antidote to these terrifying times.
Araminta is one of the most gorgeous names ever. Wonderful nicknames too!
Recommending [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]. I know some people are put off by the “fred” part, but it has so much vintage charm! With the bonus of the adorable nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], you just can’t go wrong!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the name [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], think it should be appreciated more. Very classic, has a great meaning (“renowned warrior”), and sounds gorgeous and feminine.
Let’s see… After reading all of these brilliant recommendations above, I’m not sure what to add!
I think I’ll make a case for [name_f]Petra[/name_f] because she’s been on my mind lately. I really love the sparky sound of the name as it is made up of sounds not often put together. It has ancient roots and a strong meaning, but it’s still so rare, which is always appealing. Of course, I also adore its longer variant, [name_f]Petronella[/name_f], which is rich in nicknames and such an elegant name in full. I often can’t decide which I truly prefer, but I think they both deserve more love!
I agree! [name_f]Petra[/name_f] is amazing I always recommend it if anyone asks for “sassy vintage” or “quirky classic” or anything along those lines. The same vibe as hipsterish favourites like [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] but much less discussed.
I think [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] would make lovely sisters!
Glad to know someone else loves [name_f]Petronella[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Petrova[/name_f] too.
I thought of some more!
[name_f]Calytrix[/name_f] - One of the spunkiest floral names out there!
[name_f]Danae[/name_f] - dah-NAH-ee - this feels so fairy-like to me! One of the most trendy names in Greece at the moment
[name_f]Elvira[/name_f] - Bold and gorgeous! I’d love to call her ‘‘elf’’ at home as a silly nickname.
Along these lines - [name_f]Elfrida[/name_f]!
- means elf power
- balances clunky vintage with fantasy
- easy to spell and pronounce
- you
can
call
her
elf
No-brainer. [name_f]Katherine[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] (Well, more [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], I actually don’t really like [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]…) And I’m surprised it’s not mentioned as much as it is.
Thanks, everyone. <3
My son had a [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] in his kindie class! She was so cute it really made me like the name!
I love so many of these! I adore [name_f]Demelza[/name_f] and think [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Demelza[/name_f] is perfect! What surprises me is that on a British name forum [name_f]Demelza[/name_f], when it comes up occasionally, get universal hate! This astonishes me.
I say [name_f]Danae[/name_f] dun-NAY?
Jessamine
Or [name_f]Jessamina[/name_f], [name_f]Jessamyn[/name_f], or [name_f]Jessamy[/name_f].
I love that it is a floral name.
I love the double s’s.
I love the word mine in it.
Increasingly I am drawn to names with a luxuriance to them. This name has it in spades.
