Rose Elizabeth Darling! I'm excited about this one!

I am hesitating to post this because I feel like I’ve been falling in love with too many names lately and you’re all going to think I’m so fickle. We have been loving this for over a week now, though, and she doesn’t seem to be going anywhere!

[name]Rose[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] are both of our favorite grandmother’s middle names. Darling is an old family surname that has little meaning other than that, but I have loved it since I found it while researching genealogy. I think it’s sweet and unexpected and just great. Plus I love the [name]Peter[/name] [name]Pan[/name] connection.

The initials are R.E.D., totally by accident. But the color red has great personal significance. And then I could call her [name]Rose[/name] [name]Red[/name]! Which I think is just utterly fabulous.

[name]Rose[/name] (and [name]Elizabeth[/name]!) were actually on my mom’s list of names to name me. [name]Both[/name] I always thought would fit me so much better than what they chose! I’ve always loved [name]Rose[/name], but hubby always vetoed it so it hasn’t been on my lists. He suddenly fell in love with it, though, happily!

I think [name]Dash[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] are amazing together. And I’m still set on [name]Margo[/name] for girl #2, and I think [name]Dash[/name], [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Margo[/name] work beautifully!

[name]Dashiell[/name] [name]David[/name] [name]Rowe[/name]
and
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] Darling

I apologize for going on and on, but I’ve fallen in love! What do you all think?

This is a really great name. [name]Rose[/name] is beautiful and could fit such a wide variety of girls and [name]Elizabeth[/name] is lovely, it’s my middle name and I’ve always loved it. For nick-names you can also use [name]Rose[/name]/[name]Rosie[/name]-[name]Beth[/name] or [name]Rose[/name]/[name]Rosie[/name]-[name]Liz[/name]
xx

Wonderful! [name]Rose[/name] is a gorgeous first name, and the fact that it has family meaning is even better!

ETA: Actually, when I was little, one of my favourite stories was [name]Snow[/name] White and [name]Rose[/name] [name]Red[/name]! I liked the fact that [name]Rose[/name] [name]Red[/name] was brunette like me so she was my favourite

I think it is really lovely, [name]Lyndsay[/name]. [name]Rose[/name]-[name]Red[/name] is a fabulous nickname and sounds very fairy-taleish. [name]Red[/name] would be cute too. I know the cutest, sweetest two year old named [name]Rose[/name] and her nickname is [name]Rosy[/name]-[name]Posy[/name].

[name]Love[/name] [name]Dash[/name] & [name]Rose[/name]. Perfect.

I think you’ve stumbled upon my favorite sibset ever! Always loved all 3 names seperately, but they are fantastic together!

I love it! [name]Rose[/name] is much too wonderful a name to be wasted in middle place. We thought about naming [name]Rory[/name] [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Rosemary[/name] but my husband had an, ahem, indiscretion with a [name]Rose[/name] so we had to go another way. Anyway, great name

Amazing name!!! I have no words to express how wonderful it sounds for me!! Simply gorgeous!!!

Amazing name!!! I have no words to express how wonderful it sounds for me!! Simply gorgeous!!!

It’s gorgeous, [name]Lyndsay[/name]! I think it’s the perfect balance between fairy tale romantic and real world usable. [name]Dash[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] are great together, and [name]Rose[/name] [name]Red[/name] is adorable

Really lovely [name]Lyndsay[/name]! What is [name]Margot[/name]'s combination again? or have you not totally decided?

Ooh, all positive comments! Now THAT is exciting! I’m so happy that you all like it! Thank you! I love it so much that I think we’ve decided to “try for a girl”!

Hoodie, that’s exactly what I was going for so I’m glad that’s how it comes across!

[name]Pam[/name], you’re hilarious! Thanks so much for chiming in! Now if I actually get to name a girl this, I can tell naysayers that it was approved by THE baby naming expert!

Kcalder2, hey, thanks! I wasn’t sure it was the most ideal set ever (even though I love it!). I was expecting maybe some negative input on that, so I loved your comment!

Gwensmom, [name]Margo[/name]'s combo depends on what we use for the first girl. If we use this, as I hope we do, I’m really liking [name]Margo[/name] [name]Katherine[/name] [name]Bliss[/name] right now. [name]Bliss[/name] is another old family surname which I’d like to resurrect! I always go back to this one, which is a good sign. Something about [name]Margo[/name] and [name]Katherine[/name] together seems right to me.

Thanks again everyone! Keep the comments coming, please!

I really love [name]Rose[/name] but I can’t help but feel it might be a little plain next to dashiell. Something like [name]Rosalie[/name] or [name]Rosalind[/name] with the nickname [name]Rose[/name] might be nice. I like [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Margo[/name] together.

Gorgeous. Classic, classy, everything. It’s soft and pretty with room for spunk.

[name]Rose[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] are my two favorite names, and in my ideal world i will have twin girls and name them [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] “[name]Rosie[/name] and [name]Lizzie[/name]” lol. So of course I love it to pieces, couldn’t be better.

I still feel the need to remind berries that the name is pronounced da-SHEEL, not dash-ul.

I think [name]Rose[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is lovely. Very old fashioned and sweet for a baby, but classic enough to be worn well by an adult.

I see what you’re saying, and I would use [name]Rosalie[/name] in a second, but my husband can’t get on board. I think [name]Rose[/name] would fit me a lot better than [name]Rosalie[/name] would anyway, and I would just rather be named [name]Rose[/name]. I think it’s uncommon enough to not seem plain. We’ve considered a lot of names that I think are a lot more plain. I’ve only ever met two in my life, one is an old lady and the other is an adorable little girl. I guess I think a name has to be a lot more common to be plain, to me. Plus, I think [name]Rose[/name] is so classy and makes [name]Dashiell[/name] seem more normal/vintage rather than made-up/modern.

We pronounce it dash-ul. I’ve heard of quite a few boys named [name]Dashiell[/name] and they all pronounce it this way. As far as I can tell, the original surname was pronounce de-SHYELL and dash-ul is the Americanization. That’s another conversation, though.

Thanks Isaberry! I hope you get your [name]Rosie[/name] and [name]Lizzie[/name] someday! Obviously I love [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name]! I’m glad you like the combo

I agree with everyone else - stunning name- I also notice that both the names [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Dash[/name] - are both forms of Verbs- for example, the man rose and dash(ed) out of the room.

They could both be nouns as well for that matter [name]Rose[/name] (the flower) [name]Dash[/name] (the punctuation)

I see what you mean Lydnsey. I was shocked to see [name]Rose[/name] at #337! I had no clue it was that uncommon these days. At this rate [name]Rosalie[/name] is bound to pass up [name]Rose[/name] on the popularity chart. [name]Rose[/name] is adorable and [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Dash[/name] do make a nice set. [name]Do[/name] you like that [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Rowe[/name] are so similar?
