Some of you might remember me as having made a big old thread 2 weeks after my daughter was born, because she didn’t have a name.
Since then, I have wavered between calling her by a pet name or calling her [name]Ruby[/name]. She is definitely [name]Ruby[/name] - that’s got to be part of her name, but I can’t get past the idea that I really wanted her to have a classic name. I posted here a bunch … people asked for updates in that big old thread, and I shied away from it because I was embarrassed to still not know.
At some point I really need to fill out a birth certificate. [name]Ruby[/name] will either be her first or middle name, but we’ll call her [name]Ruby[/name]. In time, what she goes by may evolve, so that if I make [name]Ruby[/name] her middle name, maybe she’ll start going by her first more at some point.
Anyway, still stuck on names and I feel so absolutely crappy about it. My daughter is awesome though.
[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] S
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] S
[name]Vivian[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] S
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Vivian[/name] S
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] S
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] S
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] S
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] S
I like the flow of [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] the best, but really, all the choices are beautiful. Whatever you pick will be perfect. I love the name [name]Ruby[/name]!
All of the names you are considering are beautiful, so you can’t go wrong with any of them.
My top choice is [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]. My second choice is [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Caroline[/name].
Since [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] both have the long U sound, I’d skip that set of combos. Also, for some reason, I am not fond of how [name]Vivian[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] go together, but that might just be me.
[name]Ruby[/name] is nice. It’s warm and it’s not really kreative/new. [name]Plenty[/name] of Victorian-era Rubys. It’s was in use throughout the 1880s and its highpoint was 1911 at #22 in the US.
That said, I do love [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name].
I think that I’d put [name]Ruby[/name] up front. It is what you will call her, and its a little bit old-fashioned but really accessible. And if [name]Ruby[/name]'s up front, I think I would edge towards [name]Caroline[/name] over [name]Elizabeth[/name] simply because they are equally classic and [name]Caroline[/name] just that bit less popular.
If you want to make [name]Ruby[/name] the middle I think [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] are both lovely, and I would choose based on which had the NNs I liked better.
[name]Vivian[/name]/[name]Vivien[/name] I like a lot, but not with [name]Ruby[/name]. Too much repeated “ee” in Rub-ee [name]Vi[/name]-vee-an or vice versa for me. And [name]Juliet[/name], well, I like Shakespearean names, but I personally do not care for [name]Julie[/name]/Joolz etc. so I would not want it up front if at all.
Not too keen on [name]Vivian[/name] If you prefer [name]Ruby[/name] as a first name, then I like [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] and for a middle name I like [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]
I love [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]. My second choice would be [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Ruby[/name], and at a pinch, followed by [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Ruby[/name].
If you decide to use [name]Ruby[/name] as a first name, then I think [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] flows better than the ‘double ee’ sound of [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and would be my pick.
I really love the name [name]Ruby[/name]. I think it is so pretty and elegant.
I really love [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] best, followed by [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. [name]Both[/name] of these names sound timeless and ageless. I feel as if she could be [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] or [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] at the age of 2, 22, or 55. Good luck on the name choice, and congrats on the wonderful bundle of joy!!!
[name]Ruby[/name] is a great name, and it is definitely not “kreeaytiv.” Congratulations on your girl!
From your list, I like [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]. And, not to confuse you any further, but I also like the thought of [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Alice[/name]!
[name]Love[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]! Cute, spunky, but still ages well, great choice.
I’d go with [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]. You can’t get much more classic than [name]Elizabeth[/name] and it has what seems like a million nickname options if she really wants something different later.
I like [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] or [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]! Very lovely. If you call her [name]Ruby[/name], I would use it as a first name. It makes things easier and just makes sense (unless it is a family tradition to do otherwise).
The only one I’d nix for myself is [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] or [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Vivian[/name]. I think [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Juliet[/name], and [name]Elizabeth[/name] are far prettier. I think my favorite is [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. It’s a lovely combination of fun and sophisticated. I also adore [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]. Good luck momma!
Thanks all. I think I do favor caroline above the others. But I thought maybe [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] flows better than [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]. No?
