Strangest word/place name you've ever heard?

The other night, at a friend’s birthday party, I was trading high school stories (it’s been about 10 years since any of us were actually IN high school, so I have no idea how this got brought up) with the birthday boy. He began to talk about his high school girlfriend, and mentioned her name was Desert. It stopped me for a second, because honestly, it’s the oddest place name I’ve ever heard. We got off on another subject and I forgot about, until on the way home. With SO drifting in and out in the passenger seat, I was the lonely designated driver, and I began to think of some of the stranger word or place names I’ve heard over the years: [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_u]Teal[/name_u], [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f], [name_f]Arizona[/name_f], [name_u]London[/name_u], and now Desert. What are some of the strangest place names you other Berries have heard?

I went to school with someone named [name_u]Rice[/name_u]. That was definitely one of the most unusual I’ve encountered.

A little girl named [name_f]Cinnamon[/name_f] I once knew. I think it’s quite sweet actually. Her brother had the dullest name (along the lines of [name_u]James[/name_u]) which I always found mildly funny.

Oh and a man named [name_f]Happy[/name_f]. I met him in [name_f]East[/name_f] [name_f]Africa[/name_f] though, and I think it was a direct translation of his native name into English so that explains it! It suited him perfectly however

I went to school with a girl names Kansas and always thought it was a pretty awful name (no offence to anyone who likes it).

I know a girl named Blessing. It was odd at first but I’ve gotten used to it.

I know a girl who has the middle name [name_u]Love[/name_u], and she chooses to go by [name_u]Love[/name_u] instead of her first name. I also met a [name_m]Pacific[/name_m] a few years ago. (boy)

I forgot I also went to school with a Europe, and a [name_f]Diva[/name_f]. Hm, maybe I should break out the yearbook and see if there’s any more… I know we had a couple more unusual place names but I can’t remember them off the top of my head.

Thessaloniki (girl) - parents hadn’t been there and certainly weren’t Greek.

Also - I heard of a woman called [name_f]Treasure[/name_f]-[name_f]Princess[/name_f]. no joke. My friend’s dad couldn’t bring himself to hire her as a temp because he felt so uncomfortable about calling a woman half his age “[name_f]Treasure[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Princess[/name_f]”. He said he felt sleazy just saying her name for the interview. He was such a nice man, he’d hire anyone with any name… but not this.

[name_u]America[/name_u]. She went by [name_f]Ericka[/name_f] (spelled that way too). I also know a toddler and an adult [name_m]Boston[/name_m] (both males). It’s not bad, but it is surprising to me.

There was a little girl in the preschool class I student taught in named “Sweet Pea.” On my first day, I thought the teachers were just using pet names until I saw her things all labeled as Sweet Pea.

My sister showed me her yearbooks. among the students there were:

Girls named Blessing, Surprise, Dominion and February. Normally, I like month names but most people (including myself) ever say or spell February correctly.

Boys named Godswill and Godspower. From different schools and not related.

Also, from some magazine I read years ago there were submissions from girls named Candle, Nature, and Island. Nature and Island were sisters.

I met a little boy named [name_f]Legacy[/name_f]. I also know two girls named [name_f]Alabama[/name_f] and [name_u]Montana[/name_u].

I think the weirdest I know is a girl named Bunnylove

I also went to school with a male Redimpti0n (spelled like that… well not with the 0 but that’s for privacy reasons, lol)

I know a girl with the middle name Truelove. I really like it!

Frankfurt as in Germany. The poor little boy, all I could think of was hot dogs. [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] for him it easily shortens to just [name_m]Frank[/name_m].

I went to school with a girl named Conception and another named [name_m]Britain[/name_m]. And when I was in third grade, there were two girls in my class named Treasurie and Nimrit. Treasurie isn’t too bad, but I always thought Nimrit was weird because it was so close to nimwit. Very nice girl, just an odd name.

My best friend also used to know a girl named Pariah. NO idea what her parents were thinking. As for place names, I recently met a little boy named [name_m]Boston[/name_m], his dad called him [name_m]Boss[/name_m]. I actually thought it was kind of cute.

At my old school there were brothers named Everlasting, All Mighty, and All Powerful. Think of the teasing to the last two, especially… :frowning:

I met a Kross a few weeks ago, and I thought it was weird at first, but it’s really growing on me.
