Okay, well, my fanfic chapters on ao3 go from 400-1200, depending on what I’m writing. (Madam Secretary fics have much higher word counts than everything else.) [name_f]My[/name_f] story on Quotev ranges from 800-1200 or so. Hoping to make it back to my original length of 1000-2000; I miss it dearly.
It depends on the chapter. Mine usually range between 500-3000 words, with an average closer to 1000-2000, I’d estimate.
Just realized a potential plot hole that I’m struggling to solve . I had such a productive writing day yesterday but I feel like I can’t continue until I fix this.
Update: I may have solved it?
Hopefully yay? I always hate it when I discover plot holes in my story, because fixing them is always such a hassle.
I hate saying it’s a plot hole because that seems to indicate there’s something inherently broken about my plot so this was more like a plot point that was causing me confusion that I needed to look into to understand. I’m pretty sure I understand it now though lol! [name_m]Just[/name_m] had to tweak some timing issues and I’ll have to add a mention of two characters meeting at one point to exchange information.
Yep. Most my characters are right handed, but nearly every redhead is left handed.
The main exceptions are Felixander, [name_f]Pauline[/name_f], [name_f]April[/name_f], and [name_f]Kalliope[/name_f] (she’s ambidextrous).
And yes, I have a lot of characters with red hair.
Some even have middle names. Most have birthdays.
I know that the identical twins were born by c-section, which has no relevance to the story whatsoever.
For each set of twins, I know which is “older” (although it doesn’t matter because they’re still the same age).
I even have a few that I know the specific body measurements of (and not just their height!).
I’ve only got one fan fic with chapters right now, they range from 500 to a little over 1000 words.
I can’t say for sure with my original series since it’s in video format, but each segment is about 24 minutes long. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s under 1000 though, as I can only fit in so many words per slide.
It’s going to be so much easier when [name_f]Petra[/name_f] learns the names of the runes so I don’t have to keep describing their shape every time she thinks about them…
I’m pretty much doing a new chapter every day ughh I should be working
I’ve been so busy this week, but tomorrow is the two year anniversary of my characters, so got to write a chapter for that.
Has anyone ever had a character with a name that’s literally perfect for them? Like it represents who they are and all of that, and it would’ve been perfect except for the fact that you don’t like/can’t use the name?
Yeah, when I was looking for a name for my MC in an old project, I stumbled across the name Kelpie, which was perfect for my character in an odd sort of way. I wasn’t a big fan of the name and liked it even less when I found out what it meant, so I dropped it and kept looking. I saved it for a foil character, though, and it also suits her perfectly.
So thanks to help from you guys on the poll thread, I now have some new story ideas.
One is a romance between a mortician, [name_f]Liora[/name_f], and a florist, [name_m]Esmond[/name_m] (?). They both grew up being treated as weird, and so they form a quick connection to each other. They both love nature and artistic things, but mostly it’s an opposites attract thing.
I also have an idea for either a crime story or a…whatever you’d call the genre of [name_f]Welcome[/name_f] to Nightvale (surreal?) about the night clerk of a motel and his best friend, who works at the adjoining diner.
Step/half siblings got the most upvotes so I’m also thinkin on that. I’m thinking maybe about some half siblings grieving a parent in vastly different ways? [name_m]Will[/name_m] let you know if I ever figure that one out.
Have you ever seen Pushing Daises? I don’t know if it’s the genre you’re going for, but from your description your romance story is giving me really similar vibes.
I’ve heard a little bit about it! From what I know, yeah, that probably is similar! But without the magical realism aspect. Maybe I should watch it.
I thought I had the new version of my plot figured out. To find the final piece of the puzzle in their quest, my characters were going to break into a church vault and steal it. Then I, in my infinite wisdom, forgot that this was the direction I’d decided to go, and placed the library they just visited inside an old church. I can’t have them break into a church twice.
Any ideas for fun places they can break into?
hmmm…
OOH!!
A mall! That would be fun to read
other ideas:
A YMCA / Gym
A preschool (idk why )
A movie theater?
A HOTEL
A Panera or Starbucks or local coffee shop/cafe
A theater is a good idea! It would be fun to have them trying to steal the gem while a production is going on below… ooh I might have to think on this
Thank you!
I love that idea!
OOH that sounds so cool!!
