We’re new here. Our situation: 35 weeks pregnant, we don’t know the baby’s gender, we have two options in case it’s a girl, but we’re totally stuck on boy names.
If it’s girl, she’ll either be [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] or [name_f]Solange[/name_f], which we’re both super psyched about.
For a boy, he likes [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] or [name_m]Saul[/name_m]. I likes [name_m]Viggo[/name_m], Helder, [name_u]Noam[/name_u], [name_m]Rafael[/name_m], [name_f]Romi[/name_f]. I could maybe go for Isaya, but I don’t feel as excited about that as about our girl names. The only boy name we both love is [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u], but that’s taken by a nephew.
He would love something that’s biblical and/or has African (Congolese) touches, but it’s not a prerequisite. I love names that are melodic and have a beautiful meaning or story attached. The name has to work in [name_u]French[/name_u] and [name_m]Dutch[/name_m], but I imagine that’s hard to take into account if you speak neither
We’re open to gender neutral names, of course, but there don’t seem to be any that catch both our hearts.
Middle names will be [name_u]Paz[/name_u] Yulu no matter the gender.
We’ve got 1000 karma points to give away to whomever gives us a hint in the right direction.
Names I found from there are that I liked where [name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] and [name_m]Cyril[/name_m]
Some more [name_u]French[/name_u] centric names
Desange (of the angels) … maybe a little too on the nose for [name_u]French[/name_u] speakers
Others
[name_m]Eliseo[/name_m]
Gaudens
[name_u]Jireh[/name_u] (the lord sees / the lord provides I think it has something to do with [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] and his sons)
Osee (Hosea)
[name_m]Rafael[/name_m] is great, push for that if you love it. A couple of people above have suggested [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] which obviously works in [name_u]French[/name_u]. It’s melodic and basically Biblical. Not sure about [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] or the Congolese touch, but otherwise it could be perfect. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] or even Abraham/Abram, with the [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] sounding nickname [name_m]Bram[/name_m]. [name_u]Or[/name_u] maybe something like [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m]?
some suggestions that will definitely work in [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] and might work in [name_u]French[/name_u] (from a native Dutch-speaker and a non-native basic [name_u]French[/name_u] speaker)
A huge thank you to each and every one of you who replied! We’re touched by your willingness to think along our lines. We’ve had some time to let it all sink in. We realized we perhaps liked each other’s name suggestions more than we initially realized. We’re on the verge now between [name_m]Rafael[/name_m] (or Raphael), Isaya or [name_u]Ezra[/name_u].
But most importantly we feel excited now instead of desperate.
