The name Susannah

We are expecting our 2nd girl and I’m struggling with names!!

Our front runner is [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] but I’m worried it’s dated and lacks a cool factor.

Would love any advice or opinions.

I personally love the name [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]. I am less into [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] with an h, but either way the sound and meaning are lovely.

I love the name [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]! Yes, there will always be some people out there that might consider the name to be a bit dated, but that shouldn’t stop you from naming your daughter a name that you love; especially since a lot of those older names are coming back into style.

To me, it reminds me of the character [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] from the book/show “the summer I turned pretty.” Whenever I think of the name I get that sunshine-y happy vibe that the character portrays :sunny:

One of my favorite people is named this (without the h), and is easily also one of the coolest people I’ve ever met! The person truly makes the name, so I now associate [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] with warmth, drive, and a spunky creative kick!

I looooove it and that spelling! I think it’s definitely more trendy without being overly popular!

if you want similar names that have a more current, chic sound but still with elegance (even though I think [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] fits this quite well), maybe:

[name_f]Suzette[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgette[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_f]Gianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Isannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Annette[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]

Hopefully these help!

Oh, I love [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]! Especially the [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] spelling, since I think it looks a bit sleeker. [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] is just the warmest, sunniest name! It feels friendly, but elegant. It definitely doesn’t seems dated to me!

[name_f]Edit[/name_f]: oops, didn’t mean to respond to @/NameSearchAccount

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it. I think it has a lot of color, I think sunshine and yellows, happiness, etc… it’s not over used either. Go for it

I absolutely love [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]! I think it’s so ready to come back and be worn on little girls, kids, and ladies. I just love imagining a toddler named [name_f]Sue[/name_f]. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I really like [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]. It’s sweet and pretty and old-fashioned, not dated.

You could also consider [name_f]Zuzana[/name_f]. It’s the Czech and Slovak version of [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] and gives you the option of [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] as a nickname, which is pretty zazzy.

I love [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]! (Im gonna go against the crowd and say I love it with the ‘h’ as [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] feels incomplete to me) It is old fashioned but not in a dated way, more a retro kind of way. And the nicknames Sue/Susy/suki/Sannie/Annie & [name_f]Anna[/name_f] are all adorable.

[name_f]My[/name_f] biggest plus for [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is its a super familiar name, but it doesnt even chart in the top 1000. So everyone will recognize it but she definitely wouldnt be sharing her name with a lot of girls in her class.

I like [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] - it feels pretty bright and sparky to me.

Similar names could be: [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_f]Annika[/name_f], [name_f]Brianna[/name_f], [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], [name_f]Alannah[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]! I see her more as an under-used classic then dated, but even so I think slightly dated names are just that much more cute. [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is sweet, calming, warm, and has a golden, prairie vibe, like tall wheat blowing in the wind, bare feet, the the soft plucking on guitar strings. So beautiful, and the nickname [name_f]Sue[/name_f] is just adorable!!

I love [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]!

I think [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is gorgeous she’s elegant, timeless, bright, has sweet cottagecore imagery that is only added to by the charming meaning [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and has pretty nicknames [name_f]Susie[/name_f], [name_f]Suki[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] this spelling feels very vibrant and visually pretty. I can imagine some people saying she’s dated but honestly I think [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is refreshing!

I will probably have a very unpopular opinion on here…

Anyways, I find [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] extremely dated!! I think it was sooo overdone when it was popular way back when that now that they are all grannies I am tired on it honestly. I find most grannies now if not an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are some form of [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] nickname [name_f]Sue[/name_f]. I have a great aunt [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] and a grannie [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]. Not for me. I personally find it very unattractive despite loving nearly all other “-anna(h)” names. The first part being ‘sue’ is soo unappealing, in my opinion. Perhaps because of it’s word meanings ‘the sue somebody’ and it also even reminds me of another unappealing word that I will blur incase you may not want to know ‘sewer’. With the amount of grannies with this name I can’t imagine this on a child or anybody nowadays under the age of 60. It is honestly sooo weird, odd/dated and soo out of place to me.

In short, it certainly isn’t for me and I don’t think in my opinion that this name is ready for a comeback for at least decades to come.

I love [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] - spelled any way but especially love this spelling. So cute with so many nn

I’m so ready to meet a baby [name_f]Suzi[/name_f] too!!!

Use [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]. [name_m]Classic[/name_m] and versatile, will never be dated.

I really like [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], although like a previous poster I prefer the [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] spelling (for absolutely no reason though!).

I love that it has naturally multiple diminutives to choose from if the wearer doesn’t want to use the full name all the time, e.g. [name_f]Zanna[/name_f], [name_f]Suzie[/name_f], [name_f]Suki[/name_f], [name_f]Sue[/name_f]. Because of that I think it seems fairly timeless, as while different iterations may have been more popular at one point or another, the root name [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] can be used by anyone at any time.

I’m pregnant with my first and I think we are going with Susanna. I think the h-less spelling modernizes it a little bit. We’re also going to call her Sanna instead of Susie which i think cools it up a little bit. Coastal grandmother vibes and the name Savannah are very in, so I honestly think it could make an unexpected comeback in the next 2-3 years. Not to mention all the grand moms/great grandmoms who are named Susan who may start to get honor names. I’ve started to see a bit more chatter around Susanna on nametok too. Not a lot, but enough to make me feel like it’s not going to sound totally ridiculous against the Eleanor’s/Emma’s/Evelyn’s in her classes.

[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is one of my favorite names! It’s a timeless and elegant beauty with several possibilities for nicknames.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] too!! A classic with spunk, very warm and glowing. Sounds summery and sunny, with a nice meaning. I also prefer this spelling, with an h, but I don’t mind [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] either.

[name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] is a great nickname option!
