The TAM game (part 14: Ta Ta for Now)

With your help, I have come up with a list of favorites using the initials TAM to honor my mother-in-law and her side of the family.

I limited myself to a maximum of three names per each T on my top 10, which I could ultimately do for all but [name_f]Twila[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] goal with this exercise hasn’t been to find THE name (after all I’m not even pregnant yet so I have exactly zero sense of who this baby would be), but to discover plenty of options I truly love that I’ll hopefully be able to sit with for the next 12-18 months before a final baby will hopefully join our family. The idea of using a [name_m]Tam[/name_m]-based name really appeals to my husband, so I can definitely imagine limiting myself to one of the [name_m]Tam[/name_m] options (whether by initials here or the other options I have been/am exploring). I’ll keep working and reworking these options but I won’t be taking up so much forum-space with it in the immediate future. I definitely found some worthy options here, so my goal was met for now.

I’d love as much in-depth feedback as you’re willing to offer me. Which of these are your favorites (or else which of the longlist that didn’t make the cut do you think I must reconsider)? What do you love about them? What vibes do they give you? Which do you think work best with her siblings’ names? Etc.

Thanks, Berries. You give such unparalleled and invaluable naming advice. You’re the best! Thanks for hanging out with me during this epic series to find these names!

[name_f]Thilda[/name_f] [name_f]Audre[/name_f] [name_f]Minerva[/name_f], “[name_f]Hildie[/name_f]”

**

The “hild” in [name_f]Thilda[/name_f] would be for my 2nd great-grandmother [name_f]Hildred[/name_f], hence why I like the h, however superfluous. [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] would be the hardest single name for me to forgo if we don’t use it.

[name_f]Thilda[/name_f] Anaïs Menodora, “[name_f]Hildie[/name_f]”

**

It is very likely I will want a “moon” related name with our third. Menodora, “gift of the moon,” is absolute perfection. I love the old-world, continental feel of [name_f]Thilda[/name_f] Anaïs.

[name_u]Tempest[/name_u] Anaïs Menodora, “[name_f]Tess[/name_f]”

**

[name_u]Tempest[/name_u] is right now absolute top name for my husband, I think. This combo is so enchanting.

[name_u]Tempest[/name_u] [name_f]Aisling[/name_f] [name_f]Muse[/name_f], “[name_f]Tess[/name_f]”

**

I’m not confident I’d be able to win my husband over to the middle name combination here, but I love the fancy and wonder of this combo.

[name_u]Tempest[/name_u] Arsinoë [name_f]Meg[/name_f], “[name_f]Tess[/name_f]”

**

[name_f]Meg[/name_f] is one of my best friends and was my maid of honor. It would be an easy way to also nod to my grandma [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. I love Arsinoë for the powerful women in history association and the "intellectual meaning. Taken together, I see the ocean tossing in the storm, forming beautiful pearls of intelligent thought and wisdom.

[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]

**

The most sunny of all the names here, I think. I love how bright and carefree she sounds. [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] would honor the 12+ Pauls/Paulines in my family, beginning with my [name_u]Saxon[/name_u]-immigrant-4th-great “Granny [name_f]Pauline[/name_f].” [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is for my two grandmothers [name_u]Marie[/name_u] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. I love that the soft th would complete the “variations on T” in the sibset. We have the sh sound in H0rat1o, the hard usual ta in [name_f]Ana[/name_f]$ta$io, and then we would have the soft th here.

[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] [name_f]Arianell[/name_f] [name_f]Margrid[/name_f]

**

“[name_u]Silver[/name_u] pearl” together gives me chills. I love how they soften the brightness of [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f]. Together they give me a shimmery mauve color (I’m not a synesthesiac, though). [name_f]Margrid[/name_f] is for my grandma [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] [name_f]Acantha[/name_f] Mimose

**

One of the other features I love about the name [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] is the softness paired with the thistley-ness. The sounds are so contradictory in a way I absolutely love. This combo highlights that contradiction by including [name_f]Acantha[/name_f] (“briar, thorn”) paired with [name_f]Mimosa[/name_f] (with ties to the meaning “cuddle” as well as to the “sensitive plant,” which retracts at touch). I also love the yellow-flowered acacia called silver wattle or “mimose” that I first encountered as an au pair in Toulon on the Mediterranean. I have several picture books for my kids in [name_u]French[/name_u] that feature the tree. Lastly one of the apartment buildings where my husband and I shared a studio apartment years ago was a building called “The [name_f]Mimosa[/name_f].” We saw a [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] meme while we were living there: “It’s [name_f]Mim[/name_f]-OH-sa; not [name_f]Mim[/name_f]-o-SAH!” that has remained an inside joke in our family, even though neither of us drink (I have never had a mimosa drink).

[name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] [name_f]Alcione[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], “[name_f]Tess[/name_f]”

**

This is a winter baby name. [name_f]Alcione[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is about the calming of water. The [name_u]Halcyon[/name_u] bird was a mythical bird who nested during the weeks around the winter solstice, creating calm and peaceful waters for that period of time, the halcyon days. I love this peaceful imagery. [name_f]Alcyone[/name_f] is also connected to [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f]. [name_f]Alcyone[/name_f] was the daughter of Aeolus (Ancient [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] was called Aeolia) the wind god and she became a queen of [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f]. I enjoy the less-common interpretation of [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] as meaning “protector of the sea.” I love the soft th again completing the “variations on T” theme between the three babes, but I also love the io in [name_f]Alcione[/name_f] as a subtle nod to the io ending her brothers’ names.

[name_f]Thallo[/name_f] Anaïs [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], “[name_f]Lottie[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Tillie[/name_f]”

**

Again with the soft th completing “variations of T,” plus the final O likewise tying her name to her brothers’.

[name_f]Thallo[/name_f] [name_f]Anora[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f], “[name_f]Lottie[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Tillie[/name_f]”

**

This one reminds me of Miss Rumphius by [name_f]Barbara[/name_f] Cooney. In the children’s picture book Miss Rumphius, Miss Rumphius is charged with finding a way to make the world a more beautiful place (she does so by planting lupines all across the [name_u]Maine[/name_u] landscape). From the meaning here, I see someone primed to use their battle-readiness and sense of honor to bring metaphorical blossoms to the world.

[name_f]Thallo[/name_f] [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], “[name_f]Lottie[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Tillie[/name_f]”

**

“Marvellous, most holy bringer of flowers” - 'nough said.

[name_f]Twila[/name_f] [name_f]Aisling[/name_f] Menodora

**

The “star/twilight, dream, gift of the moon” meanings here could not get any more dreamy and celestial. There is so much beautiful imagery in my head.

[name_f]Twila[/name_f] [name_f]Antigone[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]

**

This one is the most likely to win my husband to the [name_f]Twila[/name_f] cause. He absolutely loves [name_f]Antigone[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. I waxed poetic about [name_f]Twila[/name_f] [name_f]Antigone[/name_f] in the separate post, but she is easily my favorite [name_f]Twila[/name_f] combo.

[name_f]Twila[/name_f] [name_f]Antigone[/name_f] [name_f]Minerva[/name_f]

**

I love the “double woven” meaning of [name_f]Twila[/name_f] with [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] as the goddess of weaving.

[name_f]Twila[/name_f] [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] [name_f]Maxima[/name_f]

**

“Most holy ultimate twilight” emphasizes this baby’s role as the final baby in our family. I like [name_f]Maxima[/name_f] as the final word of our sibset, as the “maximum” we have set ourselves (nevermind that we plan to adopt a teen when our cohort become teens) for babies, with twilight being the twilight of the baby years for us. And as @TeaJay pointed out, it’s just such a lumos maxima name, a positive spell spoken to our child.

[name_f]Teresa[/name_f] [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] [name_f]Melody[/name_f], “[name_f]Tressie[/name_f]”

**

[name_f]Teresa[/name_f] shares many of the same letters with her brothers and I feel like it goes so well with them, while grounding (in normalcy) the sibset. I love the “harvest moon” imagery here. I also love the interlacing of the letters, with [name_f]Teresa[/name_f] sharing so many letters with [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], and [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] in turn sharing sounds with [name_f]Melody[/name_f].

[name_f]Teresa[/name_f] [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] [name_f]Minerva[/name_f], “[name_f]Tressie[/name_f]”

**

[name_f]Apolline[/name_f] brings out the yellows in [name_f]Teresa[/name_f]'s nutty browns. [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] is such a winning combo for me and for my husband alike. Again, [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] honors the Pauls and Paulines in my tree.

[name_f]Teresa[/name_f] [name_f]Agate[/name_f] Menodora, “[name_f]Tressie[/name_f]”

**

This one is most clearly an honor name for my mom’s friend [name_f]Teresa[/name_f], who took me to beaches to “hunt” for agates, these beautiful irridescent stones that wash up on the beaches where I grew up. I also love the idea of [name_f]Agate[/name_f] with Menodora as “gift if the moon,” when the agates are reliant on the tides to uncover them or tumble them in the waves to wash ashore.

[name_f]Titania[/name_f] [name_f]Audre[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], “[name_m]Ty[/name_m]” or “[name_u]Anne[/name_u]”

**

This one is such a delightful mix of the titan strength (emphasized by [name_f]Audre[/name_f] for [name_f]Audre[/name_f] Lorde) and the magical fairy queen (brought out by [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]).

[name_f]Titania[/name_f] [name_f]Alcie[/name_f] Menodora, “[name_m]Ty[/name_m]” or “[name_u]Anne[/name_u]”

**

I went by [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] as a child for my initials LC. I like that [name_f]Alcie[/name_f] is a sort of variation on that. I also like the “strong-willed” meaning with the “titan” connection.

[name_f]Titania[/name_f] Anaïs [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], “[name_m]Ty[/name_m]” or “[name_u]Anne[/name_u]”

**

This one is just so powerful and magical. I couldn’t think of a more powerhouse fairy name. I think [name_f]Titania[/name_f] itself might be the most perfect “fit” for the sibset.

[name_f]Tisiphone[/name_f] [name_f]Alcie[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], “[name_f]Tess[/name_f]” or “Iphy”

**

[name_f]Tisiphone[/name_f] could easily be a two-in-one honor name for my mom’s two best friends growing up (see [name_f]Teresa[/name_f]), [name_f]Teresa[/name_f] and [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f]. [name_f]Alcie[/name_f] for myself (see above), [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] for my two grandmas, [name_u]Marie[/name_u] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

[name_f]Tisiphone[/name_f] [name_f]Audre[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f], “[name_f]Tess[/name_f]” or “Iphy”

**

“Battle-mighty, noble strength of vengeance.” Someone who will fight to bring hard justices to the world.

[name_f]Tisiphone[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Macy[/name_f], “[name_f]Tess[/name_f]” or “Iphy”

**

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] for [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] Spyri’s [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], bringing some bouncing levity and commonplaceness to [name_f]Tisiphone[/name_f]. I’ve loved [name_f]Macy[/name_f] since childhood listening to [name_f]Macy[/name_f] [name_u]Gray[/name_u].

[name_u]Truth[/name_u] [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] Melpomène, “[name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]”

**

“Celebrating a most holy truth with song” is such powerful meaning. I went into this a lot more in the Truth post, but “[name_u]Truth[/name_u], even unto its innermost parts” is the motto of my alma mater and an important guiding mantra for me. [name_u]Truth[/name_u] also has the added benefit of the soft th for the “variations on T” thing within the sibset.

[name_u]Truth[/name_u] [name_f]Audre[/name_f] [name_u]Meridian[/name_u], “[name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]”

**

For Soujourner [name_u]Truth[/name_u], [name_f]Audre[/name_f] Lorde, and [name_u]Meridian[/name_u] of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Walker[/name_u]'s eponymous novel, plus [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] for RBG. The most intersectional and badass feminist name I could possibly think of.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites for each T:
[name_f]Thilda[/name_f] [name_f]Anais[/name_f] Menodora- I think that this definitely flows better than [name_f]Thilda[/name_f] [name_f]Audre[/name_f] [name_f]Minerva[/name_f]. I like this a lot, but [name_f]Thilda[/name_f] seems a little bit frail and old next to the sibling names. I love the meaning of Menodora!
[name_u]Tempest[/name_u] [name_f]Aisling[/name_f] [name_f]Muse[/name_f]- This combo has definitely stuck with me since you first mentioned it! I’m not sure if I like the carefree nickname [name_f]Tess[/name_f], but I guess it’s better than the nickname Pest :joy:! I really liked [name_u]Tempest[/name_u] [name_f]Antigone[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] from your longer list, too!
[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] [name_f]Acantha[/name_f] Mimose- [name_f]Acantha[/name_f] Mimose is such a perfect middle name combo! I think that [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] is a little bit short-sounding compared to the siblings, but it definitely has strength. I also really liked [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] [name_f]Aster[/name_f] [name_f]Madelief[/name_f] from your long list (obviously, if you see my user card :joy:).
[name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] [name_f]Alcione[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]- When I hear [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], I can only think of [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] from the office, who is definitely not the right sort of namesake. I love [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f], but I prefer [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] [name_f]Acantha[/name_f] Mimose, which was on your long list, as well as [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] [name_f]Aster[/name_f] [name_f]Madelief[/name_f] (but that’s utterly biased :joy:). [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] ____ [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] ([name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]?) Would be soooo beautiful!
[name_f]Thallo[/name_f] [name_f]Anora[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f]- This name is so perfect! [name_f]Thallo[/name_f] is so strong and it ties into the sibling names with the ending. [name_f]Anora[/name_f] is a really cool name, like [name_f]Nora[/name_f] but way better! And [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] has definitely grown on me since the beginning of this. I love your description of it, too! Using battle-readiness and honor to bring blossoms to the world- how perfect!
[name_f]Twila[/name_f] [name_f]Antigone[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]- I’m not a ‘[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]’ person, but I think it just flows better than any of the other names for [name_f]Twila[/name_f]. I’ve already expressed my opinions about [name_f]Twila[/name_f] in the [name_f]Twila[/name_f] thread, so I don’t feel the need to subject you to that again :joy:.
[name_f]Teresa[/name_f] [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]- [name_f]Teresa[/name_f] is one of the names that I like less than most of the others. However, [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] [name_f]Melody[/name_f] definitely makes a great middle name pair!
[name_f]Titania[/name_f] [name_f]Audre[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]- I’m so glad to see [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] again! I’m not a huge [name_f]Titania[/name_f] fan, although it definitely fits with the sibling names. What if she struggled with her weight, and people made fun of her by calling her the Titanic?!? Most kids aren’t that mean, but some definitely are.
[name_f]Tisiphone[/name_f] [name_f]Audre[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f]- I don’t particularly like the meaning or sound of [name_f]Tisiphone[/name_f]- Avenging murder! But I do like the way you interpreted it. However, [name_f]Tisiphone[/name_f] just doesn’t sound good to me.
[name_u]Truth[/name_u] [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] Melpomene- Normally, I don’t like outright virtue names, but this is pretty. I don’t like it as much as I like, say, [name_f]Thallo[/name_f] and [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f], but I don’t hate it, not that that helps you very much.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Thallo[/name_f] [name_f]Anora[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f], [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] ____ ___(because I loooove the first name but don’t really like the middles that you have), and [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] [name_f]Acantha[/name_f] Mimose.

I had no idea that you weren’t actually pregnant yet! This seems like such a process if you don’t even know that you’ll have a girl! But I enjoyed following the TAM games- ahhhh, remember back in the days of [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_f]Iolanthe[/name_f] and [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] :joy:? Well, I look forward to seeing what you end up deciding!

TTFN- Ta Ta for now, or should I say… TAM TAM for now!

Thilda [name_f]Audre[/name_f] [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] is distinctive and full of character. She’s really strong and beautiful

Thisbe [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is such a great blend of bubbly and light with floral and pretty

Thisbe [name_f]Arianell[/name_f] [name_f]Margrid[/name_f] is sharp yet smooth, magical and earthy

Thessaly [name_f]Alcione[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] is unexpected and blithe

Twila [name_f]Antigone[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is literally perfection! [name_f]Twila[/name_f] is so interesting and unique in sound, [name_f]Antigone[/name_f] is grand and I love the rhythm and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is mystical and warm

Tisiphone [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Macy[/name_f] is an unexpected mix of modern with ancient and I adore the possibility of nickname [name_f]Tess[/name_f]

**Thilda Audre Minerva, “Hildie”****Thilda Anaïs Menodora, “Hildie” - Strong and classic but not trendy or overdone with a cute and unexpected nn. I do think that some people may pronounce it with a “Th” sound but its an easy correction. I think it goes well with your boys and I love Minerva <3. Anais Menodora is a little more fanciful

Tempest Anaïs Menodora, “Tess , Tempest Aisling Muse, “Tess , Tempest Arsinoë Meg, “Tess - I like Tempest Arsinoe best for the sound but I think “Meg” sounds quite a bit different than all of your others though I love it’s your friend’s name and I do think it’s usable. I know you chose the combos but what about Tempest Arsinoe Muse? I do like Tempest a lot!

**Thisbe Apolline Marigold, Thisbe Arianell Margrid, Thisbe Acantha Mimose- Thisbe isn’t my favorite of your names. It’s interesting but at least when I say it, it sounds a bit like I have a lisp. I think I like Thisbe Apolline Marigold best- I can never really dislike any of your names because the way describe them always imbues them with a meaning that makes me rethink them!

Thessaly Alcione Merdedith “Tess”- I really love Thessaly and this is a lovely combo! It definitely has a peaceful quality to it.

Thallo Anaïs Miranda, “Lottie” or “Tillie , Thallo Anora Mathilde, “Lottie” or “Tillie , Thallo Ariadne Miranda, “Lottie” or “Tillie - I don’t think that “Tillie” or “Lottie” are intuitive nn for Thallo though you could certainly use it, Thallo isn’t my favorite it makes me think of the word “tallow”. I think the best option is Thallo Anora Mathilde and the way you describe it makes it work better for me.

Twila Aisling Menodora , Twila Antigone Maeve , Twila Antigone Minerva , Twila Ariadne Maxima - Twila Ariadne Maxima is my favorite of course! You’ve made Twila grow on me a lot in this combo. I think the triple names add a stateliness to Twila though I do think it is different than your boy names but not unusable. I love the meaning it has.

Teresa Artemis Melody, “Tressie , **Teresa Apolline Minerva, “Tressie”*, Teresa Agate Menodora, “Tressie - I love Teresa Artemis Melody and Teresa Apolline Minerva. It’s classic but not popular with a sweet nn and it goes really well with your boys. I love how you describe what the middle names bring out in it- just lovely. Probably my top two favorites.

Titania Audre Marigold, “Ty” or “Anne , Titania Alcie Menodora, “Ty” or “Anne , Titania Anaïs Maeve, “Ty” or “Anne - Titania is so queenly and stands up very well with your boy names- maybe the most similar in vibe to theirs. I like all three- “Audre Marigold” is warm and stately, “Alcie Menodora” is sweet and whimsical, and “Anais Maeve” is powerful.

Tisiphone Alcie Marigold, “Tess” or “Iphy” , Tisiphone Audre Mathilda, “Tess” or “Iphy” , Tisiphone Adelaide Macy, “Tess” or “Iphy” - I think this is maybe the one name that hasn’t won me over all the way. I like Tess as a nn but I don’t particularly like “Iphy” (it makes me think of “iffy” like suspicious or uncertain). What about Toni or Izzy? If I pick one I like Tisiphone Alcie Marigold best.

Truth Ariadne Melpomène, “Ruthie, Truth Audre Meridian, “Ruthie
I really like Truth! Truth Ariadne is my favorite but I don’t know about Melpomene? I’ll have to sit with it a bit. Truth Audre Meridian is such a powerful feminist name.

Favorites: Thilda Audre Minerva, Tempest Arsinoe Meg, Thessaly Alcione Meredith, Twila Ariadne Maxima, Teresa Artemis Melody, Teresa Apolline Minerva, Titania Audre Marigold & Titania Alcie Menodora.

I love the [name_f]Madelief[/name_f] combos, too. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband thinks [name_f]Madelief[/name_f] is just a little too “weird” for the time being.

This’ll be a consideration.

Part of it feeling like this is such a process when I don’t even know if I’m having a girl is that I’ve pretty much always secretly hoped for 3 of 1, whichever. So when H came out with boy parts I thought, “I guess I see myself as a mom of three boys now.” We did nothing to guide our adoption process, but happily became parents to another boy, so that vision solidified a bit. Girl names have always been much harder for me, and I’m really in love with so many boy options already. This exercise really helped me remember it might be exciting to have a girl to name, too. Also we were team green with my pregnancy and plan to be again so I do legitimately feel the need to have both girl and boy names at the ready.

Haha, and yeah I almost named the post TAM TAM For Now, but then I was internally annoyed at myself when I typed it out. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] you pointed it out, though.

I love all of these assessments and they really help to clarify/inform my own ideas about how they come across. Thank you!

I really think the “[name_f]Titania[/name_f]” / “Titanic” thing is not a big deal- it’s not super obvious and any name can be twisted.

Aww, thanks!

I can see that. Tallow isn’t something I’d want to be associated with but I’m also an urban homesteader and tallow is super underappreciated, lol. It can do a million things.

I love [name_u]Toni[/name_u] (a la [name_m]Morrison[/name_m]). [name_f]My[/name_f] partner doesn’t like it at all. I hadn’t thought of [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] but it could work. I’d give nicknames deeper thought when considering any of these names anyway.

Absolutely any name can be twisted. When I was first considering H and thinking of the ways in which it could be twisted, I thought of whore fellatio, lol… I certainly hope no child ever comes at him with that one, but I’d say it’s unlikely.

For [name_f]Twila[/name_f] [name_f]Antigone[/name_f] I thought of the nickname [name_f]Twiggy[/name_f], which would be ADORABLE but I don’t think I’d use it for the weight thing. I think [name_f]Titania[/name_f] would be far more likely to suffer if she is particularly large- or small-chested with her name than she would be likely to be the ‘Titanic’ but either way kids can be mean. I still love [name_f]Titania[/name_f] though.

My favorite is definitely [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], but that has everything to do with personal taste. I love all three names and the way they play together. [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] [name_f]Arianell[/name_f] [name_f]Margrid[/name_f] is also a great option, and perhaps more balanced in vibe, even if I like the individual names less.

After [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f], I love the idea of [name_f]Tess[/name_f] for you. I think she makes such a natural sibling for the boys. I really like all of your [name_u]Tempest[/name_u] options as well as [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] [name_f]Alcione[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], though that one doesn’t flow quite as well ([name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] and [name_f]Alcione[/name_f] share too many sounds, I think).

My third favorite are the [name_f]Teresa[/name_f] combinations. I love the “harvest moon” imagery of [name_f]Teresa[/name_f] [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], but I don’t think it works well with [name_f]Melody[/name_f]. I can’t choose between the other two which is my favorite.

Edited to add: I still can’t get on board with [name_f]Titania[/name_f] as a first name. [name_f]My[/name_f] students would have a field day with that “tit” syllable.

Agreed. I love when all the names just fit together in every way and this combo has some stuff sticking out every which way. I still really like it, though.

Please do add [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] to your list. It’s such a gorgeous name. And I’m glad you had fun with the posts! I’m considering doing a much shorter TAM series for boys in a bit. I really only have a few T names I’d use for a boy and I have so many non [name_m]Tam[/name_m] boy combos I love already. But it could be fun and worthwhile. I so appreciated everyone’s input here!

Stunning… :heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes:
[name_u]Tempest[/name_u] [name_f]Aisling[/name_f] [name_f]Muse[/name_f]
[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_u]Truth[/name_u] [name_f]Audre[/name_f] [name_u]Meridian[/name_u]
These names are a wonderful mix of strength and femininity to me. They sound wise, but whimsical and just a teeny bit magic. :sparkling_heart:

They do play so well together. And I agree that [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] [name_f]Arianell[/name_f] [name_f]Margrid[/name_f] feels much more balanced and grounded in a way.

Understood.

Reading about each of these names, and the incredible care and meaning that goes into each of them, is just wonderful. Each one feels special, strong, and a little bit surprising in just the right way. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites:

Thisbe [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]: This combo is exactly like you say: bright, sunny, and happy. It feels magical yet still grounded and strong, which I absolutely love. I also just love [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] in general as a totally unexpected and distinctive yet wearable first!
Thisbe [name_f]Arianell[/name_f] [name_f]Margrid[/name_f]: The “silvery pearl” imagery you describe is really lovely, and I think these three names balance one other beautifully.
Thessaly [name_f]Alcione[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]: [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] is one of the names I loved from your original mix–in fact, you totally sold me on it! I really want to love [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] [name_f]Alcione[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], especially with the meaning you described, but something about the flow (I think the repeated “s” in [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] and [name_f]Alcione[/name_f]?) feels just a little bit off to me. It’s still beautiful though. And [name_f]Tess[/name_f] is such a great nickname!
Truth [name_f]Audre[/name_f] [name_u]Meridian[/name_u]: You’ve managed to honor four amazing people in one amazing name. [name_u]Truth[/name_u] feels like a bit of a heavy expectation to carry, but the delightful [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] lightens it perfectly. And I think [name_u]Truth[/name_u], [name_f]Audre[/name_f], and [name_u]Meridian[/name_u] sound wonderful together!
Teresa [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]: [name_f]Teresa[/name_f] is lovely–an underused, unexpected classic with such a pretty, strong sound. This combo feels uplifting, and, like [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], a little bit magical.

I definitely agree that [name_u]Truth[/name_u] is somewhat of a lofty expectation and that would be my main reservation in using it. I knew a [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] in college and she was just the most delightful person. She really made [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] work for me.

Thank you so much for all the help and feedback!

[name_f]Twila[/name_f] [name_f]Antigone[/name_f] [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] - This is my favourite of your combinations with [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] in them, and I know how important [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] is for you!
[name_f]Titania[/name_f] [name_f]Audre[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] - I love seeing [name_f]Titania[/name_f] getting some love! She sounds lovely with [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].
[name_f]Tisiphone[/name_f] [name_f]Alcie[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] - By far my favourite of all your combos, I just adore it!! I’d love to see you use [name_f]Tisiphone[/name_f]!
