Falling back in love with the sweet mythological name [name_f]Gaia[/name_f]! (GUY-ah)
She’s the personification of the [name_f]Earth[/name_f] in Greek mythology, the mother of all life. For some reason, I see other mythological names discussed very frequently here on NB, but not as much love for [name_f]Gaia[/name_f], despite the wonderful mythological namesake and the strong, simple sound. I like that it also means “cheerful” in Italian (pronounced slightly differently).
What do you think of [name_f]Gaia[/name_f]? If you’re not a fan, what is it that puts you off?
And just for fun, thoughts on [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] as a sister to [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_u]Kit[/name_u] and [name_f]Anouk[/name_f]?

Gaia is awesome! Iam actually surprised it’s so underused. It’s short, spunky, has awesome associations and fits the trend planet earth/mythology.

Me too! For all the same reasons. Maybe it’s just a celebrity baby away from being “discovered”

Gaia is one of my middle names so I adore it (duh)!

I think it’s a nice name! It’s a spunky name with a cool namesake, and I’m also surprised it’s not more popular. It’s almost like a spunkier [name_f]Maia[/name_f]. I’m also a big fan of [name_f]Gioia[/name_f] which has a softer sound but I love [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] for you and your sibset!

People often mispronounce it though
It goes well with your children’s names aswell
I like the sound of [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] and the meaning, but I don’t like the way the spelling looks. I also think of the show [name_m]Captain[/name_m] Planet!
I think she pairs really well with [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_u]Kit[/name_u], and [name_f]Anouk[/name_f]!

There’s also [name_f]Gaea[/name_f], which I think looks pretty but perhaps a little complicated?

Ooh, [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] is a cool name! I love the meaning and can totally see what you mean about it being overlooked compared to other mythological names. I appreciate it’s simplicity and distinctiveness. And I think it would fit right in with your sibset! [name_f]My[/name_f] only reservation is that to me, the sound (not the spelling) prominently resembles the word “guy”. This isn’t necessarily a negative thing, but for whatever reason it’s bothering me. It might be something I would get used to if I heard it more though (certainly if I heard it on a real person!).

Not bad. I like the meaning, and it’s pretty.

For some reason when I see three vowels in a row my eyes just glaze over with confusion.

Haha, fair enough!
@dandy_orchid I suspect that the “guy” syllable is the reason why this one isn’t more popular. I don’t mind it but I can see why some might.

I like it a lot! I only added it to my list recently, because for reasons I’m not sure about, it wasn’t really clicking. Possible explanations:
- it was the name of my first real crush so uh ~associations~
- she’s a villain in the heroes of olympus books, which singlehandedly raised me
- I know so many girls named [name_f]Maya[/name_f]
Anyway, lovely, stunning. I prefer the [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] spelling, even though I prefer [name_f]Astraea[/name_f] to [name_f]Astraia[/name_f]. Also lovely with your children’s names!

I know a [name_f]Gaia[/name_f]! She’s nice, and the name really fits her. She does have issues in the beginning of the school year with pronunciation but people seemed to pick it up fast.

Yes I love it! I think it’s such an underused gem and it’s just so beautiful compared to other Greek names. I think it would work lovely with your sibset!

I love it! I think I see it on NB a few times but never really see it on people’s list, heavily underrated which is a shame since I love the connection to earth and nature, imagine a little [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] or maybe a [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]? (I think the only con is that it has a great emphasis on GUY for a little girl name)
Also, [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_u]Kit[/name_u], [name_f]Anouk[/name_f], and [name_f]Gaia[/name_f], make for a wonderful combo, another strong T sound name would also work lol
