We will use [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] at least for a middle name ([name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]) [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] was hubby’s grandmother’s name, and I love it! The other day, my oldest daughter was talking to me, and asked if we had considered using [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] in the first name spot (as I have waivered some with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f])… it was an interesting thought, and I love the ring of [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]… but wow, you never hear that anymore, or do you? Or at this point does it just sound trendy??.. thoughts??? Thanks!
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f]? Trendy? Definitely not. I went to school with a girl named [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] who wore it well. Other than [name_m]Augie[/name_m], [name_u]Gussie[/name_u], or AJ, maybe [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]? Because of the “Au?” That’s kind of corny though.
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f]'s a lovely name. I’ve toyed with the idea of adding it to my list. It doesn’t sound trendy at all. I prefer it without a nickname.
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] is beautiful. I could see someone thinking it a little bit trendy because it’s part of that old-school revival, but it’s not particularly popular, and [name_u]August[/name_u] has such a rich, varied history that the name feels timeless. I’m also keen on [name_u]August[/name_u] for a girl, after the month. I knew an [name_u]August[/name_u]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f] growing up and at the time I thought nothing of it, but it’s rather sweet.
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is really cute. Definitely fresher than [name_f]Caroline[/name_f].
Joyful! [name_m]Long[/name_m] time, no see.
[name_m]Ive[/name_m] always thought your taste was superb. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is marvelous. I know sometimes you waiver a bit, which isnt a bad thing, youre trying to find the perfect name, but [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] s gorgeous. That whole combo seems so chic and stylish to me. [name_m]Ive[/name_m] always loved [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], though im not a fan of the nn’s. Auggie is ok, I prefer [name_f]Aggie[/name_f].
Wasnt [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] in the running last time? [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is cute.
I also like [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]. Its close to [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], and just as beautiful.
Well, I love it, obviously.
And since [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is another one of my favorites, I adore [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. Very aristocratic!
I love [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]! I love [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] as well.
I think it is very pretty!
Thank you all for your input!!!
@rhiatayler- [name_m]Hi[/name_m] It is good to see you! Thank you for your kind words! Yes, I like [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] as well, but hubby does not… [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] was at the top of the list in the running last time, but since one of my children have had a bad experience with a little girl named [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (not that little, 14)… well, let’s just say it has been pretty much knocked off…though I do still really like the name.
Yes, I do waiver at times, but I think it would almost be impossible for a name obsessed person not too
I like the nn [name_f]Aggie[/name_f], but our oldest daughter’s name is [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], and that is just too close… so she would have to be called by the full [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]. Hmm… and my head spins
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] is very pretty either way. Dont remember where I saw it, but one time somebody suggested [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]. That may not be your cup of tea, I think its cute and there are tons of nn options. [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is very long, but sweet.
If youre leaning towards just [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], I think you should go with that. I dont think its trendy sounding, its more vintage-y, which i love. You could always go [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. Thats cute too.
I like the nickname ‘[name_f]Asta[/name_f]’. For me it calls to mind this painting (portrait of [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], 1768-1840). I don’t know… While a grand old name, and gorgeous on paper, I’m afraid it’s one I want to like more than I really do.
Yes, I get that! I love the sound and feel of [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]… but I do have a much easier time envisioning a little girl named [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] as the first name than [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]…
I like it! It’s unique and pretty. I honestly prefer it and [name_u]August[/name_u] on a girl, and have never been fond of [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] on boys.
My first thought for a nn was Austa. But even [name_u]Gus[/name_u] would be a fun one if she could pull it off.
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] is one of those names that’s lovely to say but I don’t think I’d pick it for my own name. It seems so serious.
I keep waiting for you to revisit [name_f]Susannah[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] - but I don’t love it like I love [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]! [name_m]How[/name_m] about a double name: [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]?
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is perfection! I would use it in a heartbeat, but I can’t really cause it’s a family name of great importance on my cousin’s side & it would just be strange if I used it! I do struggle with a likable nickname. Does AJ work for you? It isn’t my cup of tea, but I prefer it over Auggie or [name_u]Gussie[/name_u] or [name_u]Gusty[/name_u]. The only thing I can come up with is [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] since [name_u]August[/name_u] is a summer month! I don’t know if that’s literal enough for you.
I love [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], it was our front runner for this baby for ages, only recently to be supplanted, mostly for sibset matching reasons. Our issue has always been nicknames, as well. NNs are important and prominent in our family. My husband was partial to [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] while I went out on a limb and said I would go for Taggie. It’s established for [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], so I figured why not? I love [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] with [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. Very classic and not at all trendy!
I love the name [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
I like the nn suggestion of AJ or [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] (from ‘au’ whilst a bit cheesy I love it)
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is perfect!
I think [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] is a really lovely name and I love [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. The ‘[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]’ combination makes me think of [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] of [name_m]Wales[/name_m] who became [name_f]Queen[/name_f] of Denmark and had a daughter, [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] (named for [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]'s mother, [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] of [name_m]Saxe[/name_m]-Gotha), with her husband, the [name_m]King[/name_m]'s, physician, [name_m]Johann[/name_m] [name_m]Friedrich[/name_m] Struensee - aka the most notorious love story in the history of Denmark. So to me, those two names almost go hand-in-hand. As a matter of fact, four generations have been bearing those two names ([name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] of [name_m]Saxe[/name_m]-Gotha - [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] of [name_m]Wales[/name_m] - [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] of Denmark - [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg).
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] sounds really nice too. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is a very majestic name.
