Ttc 2020!

So I was hoping not to have to join this thread, but another cycle down and no luck. [name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone! I’m feeling quite bitter at the moment, but with a slight hope that 2020 is our year. We’ve been TTC our second for 15 months (our first took 12 months).

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone,

I’ve been reading nameberry for years and can’t believe it might be time to join this thread! I’m 32 and my husband is 39, so we feel the need to get started on babies soon. I’ve been baby crazy for years but recently started a new job and got married. I feel more fulfilled than I have in years and am suddenly hesitant to possibly sidetrack my career and send 2/3 of my salary to childcare expenses. It’s scary to think about changing things now (sounds like we are in similar spots @kiriko!). But of course we aren’t getting any younger.

In the mean time I was wondering if anyone has dealt with a job where there is no clear maternity leave policy. Most of my coworkers have children so I think my employer would be flexible, but it’s a small business so people tend to have individual arrangements. I’m wondering when I should ask about options. [name_f]Do[/name_f] it early or wait till I’m pregnant and make them deal with it?

It will be a few months at least before we actually start trying, but I wanted to drop by and wish everyone luck for 2020!

[name_f]Happy[/name_f] 2020! [name_u]Baby[/name_u] dust to everyone. I hope this new decade treats us all well.

@lilimorgana - I absolutely remember you  I’m happy to be back in the TTC group with you again, I hope neither of us stay in here too long!

@katinka - I’m definitely feeling confident this time around, that the pregnancy when it happens will be successful and healthy. All of the tests after the miscarriages came out clear and there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to experience a healthy pregnancy. I’ve lost a ton of weight, and the fertility specialist said that with the amount I lost, I have lowered my risk of another loss by 30/40% so that alone makes me feel a bit safer in trying again.

My first real update for 2020 - First cycle was a no-go. But I was expecting that, my fertile window was plagued by this awful cold, that’s still hanging on! We only managed to have sex once during my fertile period, so it was a long shot, and badly timed. My cycle has started over today and I plan to start up my temping and such again tomorrow morning. I’m avoiding taking ovulation tests this time, as I know my cycle fairly well and don’t want to start obsessing over lines on sticks early on. I wanted to take a relaxed approach to TTC this time around, but quickly learned that that’s not possible for me, no matter what I’m going to obsess over every little thing in the TWW and that’s just me, and that’s okay. I’m hoping we conceive as quickly and easily as we have in the past, I’m not sure how much mental energy I have for this game!

@kibby Fantastic! Huge congrats on the weight loss, and best of luck

@katinka - Thanks hun!! Any chance we’ll be seeing you on here for #4??

[name_m]How[/name_m] is everyone doing? Quiet around here, I’ll happily keep the thread going on my own but if l had some company I wouldn’t complain!
I’m just entering “baby week” here, we can try tonight, then not again until Thursday, Fiancé is still on shift work and isn’t in town from [name_f]Monday[/name_f] til Thursday night. We might miss the window this month ”*♀” Maybe not though, I’m really not sure when I’m going to ovulate. My cycles have been much shorter than usual, 24/25 days instead of 28/29, I’m worried my luteal phase might be too short right now. It’ll be interesting to see when I ovulate this week. I’m not temping as I’d hoped, my BBT thermometer died. Trying digital OPKs just to see.
But, I applied for a job on a whim, and they’ve pushed me through to the third stage of the interview process already. I don’t know what to do! If we end up pregnant quickly it’s not the best time to change jobs. But my current job is so stressful and I am exposed to chemicals that aren’t great for TTC or pregnancy. I really want to just jump and see where it goes but at the same time…

@kibby Erm… NO. Haha, three is keeping me busy enough right now!

Very best of luck with the job interview (and the TTC, of course!) That sounds really exciting, and you must be a good fit for the role if they’re moving you through the process that quickly. If you dislike your current job, surely you have nothing to lose in at least going through the process, then you can decide whether or not to accept any offer you might get. Sounds like a fantastic opportunity!

@kibby Hey! I’m usually around, I can keep you company, haha. Good luck with the TTC and the job–it sounds like they like you and it would be a good opportunity for you so definitely worth seeing what happens!

We are decided that we’ll go ahead with a fourth and final baby, but still a bit undecided as to when we’ll start to TTC. There’s been a lot going on here lately with various things, originally we had said [name_u]January[/name_u], then maybe [name_f]February[/name_f], but it might even be later than that. But at least I know we’re a go, the not knowing was driving me crazy! Hopefully I can get my ducks in a row soon and we can get on with things!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Everyone!

I’m 27 years old and my husband is 29! We’re in our first month of trying, which has been a great opportunity for me to get to understand and learn all about my body and what’s involved in the TTC process! We’re hoping our frequent baby dancing has paid off. I should know within the next week! [name_m]Cross[/name_m] your fingers for me that we’ve conceived this go-around. However, if we didn’t that’s okay too! I’m not getting discouraged so quickly as I have a better understanding of what to do and look for now! Wish us luck! Hoping to see a BFP!

Crossing my fingers to all of you who are already trying, I hope many healthy babies are born by 2021
Best of luck sintrocaso!!

As for me, I am still not losing weight at the pace I would like to… I have not quit smoking either, but I am optimistic that I will have everything ready to start TTC by the time [name_u]August[/name_u] come. Anyone else waiting a few months for health reasons?
Lot of people around me are getting pregnant and is hard… a few weeks ago I couldn’t help myself and bought a couple of baby girl pieces of clothes lol

@alsp I totally understand where you’re coming from. My doctor told me that I could afford to lose weight before we started trying. It honestly stung a little bit, but I knew that one year ago was not the right time and I was not a healthy person. I decided to go vegan after killing myself in the gym and eating healthy and not seeing any significant results in weight loss. I lead a very busy lifestyle right now. I work full-time, go to graduate school and work at an internship after my full-time job. So, I don’t have time to work out with working 13-hour days every day of the week. So, I was one of those “un-healthy vegans” who was eating all the processed foods thinking I was being healthier but I wasn’t! Now, I’m trying a more whole-foods plant-based diet and I feel great! I allow myself to have some cheat meals every once and a while but during the week I stick mostly to that and I feel great! Not sure if I’ve made a huge improvement according to the scale but I’ve only been doing that for one month! I have noticed changes to my physical body like my hips being smaller and stomach as well haha AND most importantly I feel more positive, happy and healthy than I ever did before! I’m wondering if you would be interested in giving it a try! If not, that’s okay too! It’s not an easy transition, and I certainly never want to preach to anyone about what is right and wrong when putting food into your body! I am not a nutritionist by any means! But I thought understanding where you’re coming from and sharing my experience could help you too! Best of luck to you! You can do this! [name_f]Remember[/name_f] it’s the journey not a race! I get jealous seeing people post their pregnancy announcements all the time, so I understand that! It will happen!

A quick hello here. We aren’t TTC until [name_u]December[/name_u] 2020 because of me starting a new job and wanting our first almost potty trained before trying for another. I will be popping in and out for now but good luck to all you ladies. [name_u]Baby[/name_u] dust to all!!

Update on yesterday’s post: I GOT MY BFP! Took three tests and ALL are POSITIVE!

@sintrocaso Congratulations! Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

@sintrocaso Congrats! So excited for you!

Congratulations!! So exciting!! first BFP of the thread, I hope you keep us posted. Best wishes for your pregnancy.

And thank you for your advice, I’m actually trying to eat whole-foods and mostly plant based… problem is I cheat a lot. I have a tendency to be quite inactive and eat a lot… but I’m trying to do my best and recently joined a swimming class and started to walk a lot. I completely understand you regarding the job issues, my job is really demanding and I work long hours even in the weekends, so I’m really tired when I get home and just want to watch Netflix and eat, and also basically I’ll have to spend all of my salary on child care when I have a baby.

Work and family balance is a real challenge, I know many of you face these same problems.

*Edit: one question momberries… what’s in your opinion the best brand of ovulation tests?

I think I’m ready to join this thread now…

I have a son from a previous marriage, and SO and I have one son together. Our little [name_m]Barnabas[/name_m] is about 3,5 months old. We’d like to try for at least one more baby, and we don’t want the age gap to be too big, so we’re planning on starting TTC around [name_f]April[/name_f] 2020, when [name_m]Barnabas[/name_m] is 6 months old.

@Kibby, Good luck on your interviews, Hopefully this new job is less stressful. I’m thinking about changing jobs too, but with my honeymoon booked in mid [name_f]April[/name_f], and TTC I’m not sure if now is a great time.

@sintrocaso Congratulations!

I just finished my first spontaneous period after getting off my birth control in [name_u]December[/name_u]. I’ve been on the pill for a while so I wasn’t sure how long it was going to take by body to regulate. I got my first period in 31 days so that was good. I assume this first few periods may be a little hectic. My doctor said after my first period I am good to go to TTC so I guess were officially trying. I have an app on my phone called [name_f]Flo[/name_f] which I really like so far which helps me kind of keep track where I should be in my cycle. Does anyone else use any apps?

I should ovulate next weekend sometime which would be nice as I have a 3 day weekend from work so hopefully that should be perfecting timing.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!

I’m [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f], mommy to [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] (6) and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] (3). I got pregnant with my kiddos on the first try, both times. But, my husband and I have been trying since [name_f]October[/name_f] 2017 for a third. We got pregnant this past [name_f]May[/name_f], only to miscarry in [name_u]July[/name_u] at almost 12 weeks :frowning: We named our little babe [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m].

I honestly hesitated to join this forum… I’ve been part of the TTC 2018 and 2019 groups and the thought of joining another one was just frustrating and felt hopeless. So in the meantime I decided to try some new things in 2020 (some new bloodwork and a friend suggested acupuncture - highly recommend!) and got a very surprising BFP last night!

So I guess I’m here because I need some support - I’m super nervous because my BFP was just a faint positive at 14 dpo. I feel like it should be pretty dark by now. I’d appreciate any prayers/positive vibes!
