Sigh. 10mo postpartum and I’m not even sure I’m ovulating yet (given the half-year long stress of job loss and moving in with the inlaws until DH gets a new job, I’m not surprised).
[name_f][/name_f]
I started temping this cycle just so I would have something to go off of/see if i am actually ovulating and it doesn’t look like I am and it’s CD33 already when my last couple cycles had been 31 days so i thought i was finally normalizing.
[name_f][/name_f]
I’ve also only lost like 6 of the 30lbs I wanted to which is also discouraging, likely mainly due to stress and no gym access.
Officially started folic acid supplements! Eep!! I know that’s not much of an update haha but I’m too excited. I’ve just thrown it in with my vitamin D that I already take at bedtime, but it feels so official. They say to start it “at least” 3 months before TTC so I don’t think it’s too early? It’s not like it can hurt anyway, might just be a matter of diminishing returns. But I love the tangible aspect of it!
I’m actually so glad you mentioned this because I’ve been puzzling over it! I’ve been a bit post viral and lethargic recently and always struggle mentally in the winter, so I’ve been taking a huge multivit with a whole range of ingredients, plus extra vit D and iron. It’s really made a difference, but I’m thinking I need to start the folic acid again (was taking it whilst ttc in summer but currently on a break). Problem is my large vitamin tablet does have some folic acid in, but not enough to meet the recommended dose whilst ttc, and if I switch that for a folic tablet I’ll be losing my dose of other vits [name_f][/name_f]- but I don’t think I can take extra folic like I do with the other vits because of daily dosage limits [name_f][/name_f] it’s so confusing! If anyone happens to have experience balancing many vitamin supplements please lmk
That sounds frustrating! I’ve read that a myo-inositol supplement can help with cycles and ovulation. I’ve been taking it for a week so far so I can’t say if it works or not yet but I have irregular cycles so trying things that might help them stabilise.
I’ve been taking postpartum multivit still, which I think has all the important components, though not exactly in the recommended doses. [name_m]Will[/name_m] switch back to prenatal in several months.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] first baby is turning one later this month and I’m just emotional lol. It has been such a joy watching him grow and I look forward to have another, but I wonder how I’ll manage. I was so physically drained throughout the first pregnancy and next time I’ll have a super active toddler. [name_f]Wish[/name_f] I have more help available but I just don’t.
[name_f][/name_f]
@cms1512[name_f][/name_f] weight loss is such a frustrating thing. It used to be pretty easy for me when younger but now it’s the opposite. Still another 25 lbs or so to my normal weight and it doesn’t look like it’s happening at all.
25 lbs for me is to get to a good enough weight, if I count based on when I was the slimmest/most confident wearing anything I want, that’s actually closer to 40 too. [name_m]Oh[/name_m] well.
[name_f][/name_f]
I can imagine how stressful it is living with in law. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] you get to move out and everything sorted in 2026.
Omg this is so funny because I was actually wondering about this as well [name_f][/name_f]- I thought about taking one of the pregnancy multivitamins but then I take a ton of vitamin D daily (prescribed by doc because my body just kind of doesn’t absorb it unless I take massive amounts) so I don’t want to overdo it there? But occasionally I do pop a gummy multivitamin… ugh. Sorry this isn’t very helpful in the way of advice but I do sympathize with trying to balance it out. Is it possible to get a good multivitamin that doesn’t have any folic acid in it and then you can just take the folic acid tablets like normal?
I actually wonder if this is true of me as well because if I let taking the supplement slide for even a short while I end up deficient. (Also, I’ve read that many medical practitioners and researchers suspect the recommended dosages of lots of vits should be higher than they are currently for women, but of course there is no hard science to back it up yet because funding for womens health issues is a joke [name_f][/name_f] )
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]
Yes, surely this must exist [name_f][/name_f] I will go on a quest to look for folic free multivits! I appreciate the sympathy!!
[name_f]Hiya[/name_f], I guess I should introduce myself here as I’m not feeling confident about [name_f]December[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
I am already a mama to 4 year old girl boy twins and TTC for number 3 (hopefully just 1)since [name_m]September[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] first time TTC was a journey with a miscarriage and then ending up conceiving my twins naturally 15 months into trying just weeks before my fertility appointment so I’m sure this one will also take a bit.
[name_f]My[/name_f] wife goes in for egg retrieval tomorrow. This whole IVF process has been overwhelmingly taxing on both of us, especially because the clinic we’re with is a complete and utter joke. We’re just grateful to have even made it to this point. We’re praying for a successful retrieval, that we’ll be blessed with a lot of embryos and that transfer sticks first time. Praying we have an easier 2026 than we have had 2025!
That is tragically true about women’s health research being horrendously underfunded. It’s kind of scary to think about how much we don’t know. And also how women are treated by doctors in general [name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] Anyway, I do hope you’re able to find a multivitamin that gives you more flexibility!! I’m sure they’re out there
I would 100% believe that! [name_f]My[/name_f] iron is always tanked, despite eating meat and eggs and taking a high dose supplement. I heard recently that the average vit D supplement is way lower than would be beneficial to people who are deficient.
This makes me feel better about my dose haha. I’d totally believe it.
[name_f][/name_f]
I had a look at multivitamins at the pharmacy and couldn’t find a single one that was folic free OR had the required dose for ttc & pregnancy. [name_f]So[/name_f] it seems you simply can’t take one whilst also taking folic?! Which seems wrong! [name_f]May[/name_f] have to ask the pharmacist next time and see what they suggest
My regiment while pregnant (minus the extra choline while ttc) is:
-Nature’s Nutrition Prenatal + DHA from Amazon (this was the least fishy, most vitamins and other recommended things I could find). I have continued these (imperfectly) postpartum in an attempt to keep up my stores.
-Extra Ferrous Gluconate (Iron) Supplement (kept up postpartum) but I’ve been anemia prone since I was a teenager.
-CoQ10 (200mg, I will up this to 300-500mg at 35 if we are still trying for more by then which we likely will be if I continue to be benched from TTC.) I am resuming these this month.
-Extra choline supplement during pregnancy (if anyone is interested, it’s a blue bottle on Amazon and I can find my order if you want the brand name.).
For the next pregnancy, I will be continuing my Myo-Inositol instead of stopping and adding low dose aspirin because I had both GD and pre-eclampsia and I will do everything in my power not to have either again.
***edit to say that the Myo-Inositol/aspirin will be discussed with my provider beforehand.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] popping in to weigh in on TTC vitamins! [name_f]My[/name_f] fertility doctor stresses that pretty much any supplement or trick that promises a baby, is a scam and to not waste money on predatory products.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]In[/name_f] addition to a good prenatal he had me take:
He said these are the only vitamins with any true scientific backing to help while conceiving but especially in the 35-37 year old mothers. I continue this regimen throughout pregnancy. And with his guidance, I take low dose aspirin 81mg daily until 20 weeks pregnant, but as this is a blood thinner and an nSAID, there are risks and it’s not something you should do without your doctors advice.
[name_f][/name_f]
Additionally taking a high quality probiotic while pregnant has fantastic evidence in preventing both asthma and eczema in the child!
[name_f][/name_f]
Highly recommend reading the book [name_m]Real[/name_m] Food for Pregnancy, I’ve had both my obstetric dietician and a nutritionist say this book knows what’s up!
[name_f]My[/name_f] mum was on 3 x the “recommended daily dose” of vit D supplement to treat her deficiency!
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] additional supplements during pregnancy (on top of prenatals) are iron, vit D, and calcium. They also put me on asprin at about 16 week until 36 weeks, so we’ll see if that happens again (I assume so, due to my weight and age).
2025 was a roller coaster of emotions. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I found out we were pregnant in [name_m]October[/name_m], and lost the baby a week later, at 6 weeks. We weren’t necessarily trying, as we assumed these “kind of things” take time…but I was completely and utterly crushed. [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Ive[/name_m] been left with this void of wanting my baby. I want my baby. A baby. [name_f][/name_f]And knowing that we almost had it, that we were so close to having a baby is the real punch in my gut.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]So[/name_f] here I am, TTC 2026. I’ve been given the go ahead by my doctor to try again. But I’m going to spend the next 3 months preparing my body better. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I had been taking a prenatal vitamin & vitamin D 1000 IU for over a year; I’m additionally going to work on my diet. [name_m]Ive[/name_m] reduced my daily 24oz black coffee, to 12oz black and herbal tea daily. I’m also watching my alcohol intake more closely, as I do appreciate wine throughout the week. (My husband and I live with my parents currently, and the stress of living under the same roof for 2 years while saving for a condo has been alot, so wine can sometimes come in handy) [name_f][/name_f]Though my doctor informed me that my caffeine and alcohol intake was not the reason for my miscarriage… I’m not taking any chances this time.
[name_f][/name_f]
Continuing my prenatal vitamin and vitamin D, I started taking CoQ10 200mg a few days ago. Im also trying to convince my husband to start taking CoQ10, as male fertility health is just as important as women’s. I just turned 30 in [name_m]October[/name_m], and my husband will be 31 in [name_m]March[/name_m].
