It is time. After months, my post about sweet Vis (I prn. this nickname “VIZZ”) is here!
As I know many have seen on the forums, I love the name Vision for a girl. It’s not my usual literary, old-English, warm style at all. I absolutely adore classics and literary sweeties. Very, very high on my list are the likes of Florence, Josephine, May, Alice, Luella, Eve, Annelise, Louisa / Lucy, Elizabeth / Beth, and, with miss Florence and miss Josephine in the one and two spots.
But I cannot help loving… Vision.
She’s got all the spunk and beauty of the others that I adore, all the pep, beauty, and life, and even though she couldn’t fit in less with the others on my list, I’m so in love with the name that I don’t even mind. (According to the ever-wonderful “Baby Name Uniqueness Analyzer,” my top two rank at #713 [Florence] and #72 [Josephine] in the US. And… sweet Vision currently ranks as #13,383. Golly.) To me, Vision is sparky and sharp whilst still friendly and dreamy! I may be going wild with these ideas, but in my heart, Vision, though she stylistically “goes” with something more like Lemmitty or Apricity for sisters, Concord or for brothers—lovely Vision works in a set with brother Harry or sister Josephine.
So, friends, I come to you with questions! 1. What do you like about the name Vision? 2. Using my lists (UC, Listography link, this post, etc.) what would you name a sister and a brother to Vision (g) and what middle names would you pick for Vision (g)? 3. Using your own favorites, what would you name a sister and a brother to Vision (g) and what middle names would you pick for Vision (g)?
note: I’m really not looking for any critiques of the name. Associations and possible connotations are totally welcome, but I not looking for any criticism, really. I am totally aware it’s not everyone’s cup of tea as a name, but no matter what I do… I can’t not love it. TIA!
1. What do you like about the name Vision? Vision feels like a more sparkly Vivian! She’s spunky, sharp, and energetic whilst still having a mystical air.

I can picture Vision with a sister named Luella, Greer, or Opal, and a brother named Alcott, Merit, or Claude! For middle names, I’d go with Vision Opal, Vision Ramona, or Vision Marilla. Maybe Vision Marilla Opal?
3. Using your own favorites, what would you name a sister and a brother to Vision (g) and what middle names would you pick for Vision(g)? I think Vision would be sweet with Lullaby or Helisent for a sister, and Emrys or Mars for a brother! For a middle name, I think I’d go with Vision Elsinore or Vision Gloria!
I love how it’s a name that invokes dreaming, the Alice of word names.

Vision, Beulah, and Gideon would be my choices for siblings based off your lists. For a middle, based on your style, I’d personally do something a little more classic like Vision May!

From my list, I think Vision, Hawthorne, and Enda (Enda as the sister in this sibset!) would be my choosing. I too would say Vision May, but something about Vision James also strikes my fancy.
You’ve sold Vision to me!! It’s sparky, intriguing and powerful - slightly super-hero-esque, but also magical, fantastical and bold!

What do you like about the name [name_u]Vision[/name_u]?
[name_u]Vision[/name_u] would certainly make me sit up and take note, if I met one! It’s the kind of name that if you saw it in the credits after a film, everybody would say ‘ooooh’! I like the meaning of the word, how it ranges from a simple connotation of clear sightedness to a more miraculous sense of having ‘vision and drive’, a particularly brilliant insight, or perhaps even a vision for the future. It’s hopeful and full of vim and vigour, and I suppose it reminds me of the more uncommon virtue names like [name_u]Merit[/name_u], Diligence, Valor… It does definitely remind me of the [name_u]Marvel[/name_u] character, I’m not going to lie, but he’s a good character so it’s not like a bad association. It’s just a shame because [name_u]Vision[/name_u] and [name_u]Marvel[/name_u] would be great sibs

Firstly, Vision is so sparkly! Any name beginning with V is (usually) a golden colour to me and that’s how I see Vision. Secondly, it reminds me of WandaVision.
Looking through your little women long list, I think that Beulah, Beatrice, Bernadette, Cassidy, Evangeline, Xanthippe and maybe Mercy, would make good sister names for Vision for one reason (sound similarity) or another (similarity in unusual sounds, specifically what us berries often refer to as clunkiness). However, my favourite is Vision and Ottilie, and I can’t even tell you why, but I really like them together
I think these would work for brothers, having looked through your little men long list (which has so many gems on it btw):
Asa, Campbell, Conrad, Hugo, Oswald, Otto,
Rafferty either because they are really strong and distinctive names, or share a close-ish Z sound. My favourite is Beaumont, however! I think that’s perfect.

I tell my family about the most interesting names I see, today’s pick was [name_u]Vision[/name_u], and they brought up an association I hadn’t thought of or seen anyone else mention: vision being used as a synonym for beautiful/atttractive as in, “she was a vision in that dress.”

Honestly, seeing the love you have for the name has turned it from a maybe (I wouldn’t have considered it, tbh), to a this is such a lovely name! how can anyone not love it?
It’s such a vibrant name, so lovely and warm, and the way my mind works, [name_u]Vision[/name_u] is no longer a word because it is so outshone by [name_u]Vision[/name_u] as a name.

I think I would name Vision’s sister either [name_f]Alice[/name_f] (though I may be biased- I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is perfect with everything!) or [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] next options would be [name_f]Luella[/name_f] and [name_u]Florence[/name_u].
A brother could be called… [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] or [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]!
I think [name_f]Annelise[/name_f], [name_u]Mallory[/name_u], and [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] make lovely middles for [name_u]Vision[/name_u]!

As I said, I’m biased toward [name_f]Alice[/name_f] no matter what, but I also think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Wisteria[/name_f], and [name_u]Lazuli[/name_u] make good sisters for [name_u]Vision[/name_u].
I think Vallen and [name_u]Vision[/name_u] are lovely, if a little matchy. I also think [name_m]Calyx[/name_m] works well!

Pardon me whilst I squeal. These are amazing to read. Oh, I love love love all these words. It’s the word “vision” that first had me thinking it could make a sweet name, and I love that you’ve explored your takes on the word as well as the name. Amazing to read—just beautiful.
That’s so pretty! I often think of purple (probably because purpley Violet starts with V, and that’s my sister’s name so I hear it a bunch). Gold and Purple are a match made in heaven for a super-hero name.
I originally thought this connection was a little too nerdy, to weird, or too manly to allow for Vision to feel like a whimsical and wild little girl’s name… but the more I think on it, the more the Marvel connection seems to help Vision feel accessible as a name. Though he’s a massive, super-powered, bright-red synthezoid (I think that’s what he calls himself?) with a golden gemstone smack dab in the middle of his forehead… he’s a great guy in Marvel. He’s cool, he’s caring, he’s funny… and sometimes he’s human! Anyway, he helps the name feel like a name, and he’s a good associate to have. You won’t see me posting about the name Thanos for a son anytime soon.
I’ll take it! I think that’s certainly true. It’s a, “Hey, Mom, I met someone at school today with the craziest name,” type of name.

for vision’s siblings, i’d opt for word names. i’m not sure if they’re on your list (anymore) but maybe orchard ‘ocie’ or makepeace ‘max’ for a brother, and juniper or clementine for a sister! as for middles, i quite like vision eve, vision clementine, and vision luella.

They are on my list. Orchid is a genius though for Vision’s sister, and so meaningful to me too—which is really just the best of all worlds. I’m a little shocked I never thought of it myself, honest! I’m so thrilled about it. Luella and Clementine as middles, too… just gorgeous.
