What are your thoughts on the name Lorelei?

I LOVE [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]. I remember when I was a little girl, learning that our neighbor [name_f]Lori[/name_f] was actually named [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], and her sister [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] (who was one of my teachers) was actually [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. I absolutely fell in love with both names and had no idea why they would use nicknames with given names as beautiful as those. It’s been a lifelong name crush for me! It’s funny, it doesn’t sound evil to me at all, but the name [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] always has!

I don’t know why it would sound evil in the slightest. Perhaps a connection I’m not aware of. I think [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] is lovely. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband actually mentioned this name a little while ago, as well, and usually he just gives opinions on names I present, so it went on our list. haha

I cannot explain it myself. Some names sound evil to me, for no reason. Perhaps they seem fit for a villain or a mean-girl type character just for the look and sound. I can think of a number of names, male and female, that I would put in the “sounds evil” category.

I should watch out and not think this way anymore. It took me only a couple of days to do a 180° turn on [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], and “just” like that I see it under a different light.

I can see that. There are some names that have certain vibes for me, as well. I just figured I was missing a connection somewhere. haha

I’m a [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] girls fan too! I never hear this name on anyone so it seems fresh to me and I only have positive vibes from it. You could keep [name_f]Corine[/name_f] as a middle [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] [name_f]Corine[/name_f] sounds nice!

I have friends with babies named [name_f]Loralei[/name_f]. Its not my personal style but it definitely works across all ages!

I know what you mean about husbands not contributing to name ideas. Mine took forever to decide on anything and didn’t really make any suggestions. It felt like he wasn’t part of the process much til the very end where he ended up deciding between our final two choices and even though i maybe liked our other choice slightly better, him finally weighing in made me love his choice the best! So I get it! It makes it more meaningful.

Loralei is one that grows on people! And it can pair with many different middle names!!
