What can plum be a nickname for?

Hey guys,

I love the name [name_f]Plum[/name_f], but I’m afraid it sounds to juvenile. What can it be a nickname for?

hmmm

[name_f]Pomeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f]Pamela[/name_f]

Maybe [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]?

[name_f]Plum[/name_f] Sykes is named [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], her nickname came from the [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] plum!

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f], usually. But how about something like [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]?

It doesn’t even have to be a nickname for anything- it can just be a sort of pet name, like doodlebug or pumpkin (very random pet names that parents call their children). Alternatively, you could use it as a middle name. You may want to pair it with something long/sophisticated in front, like [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Adelina[/name_f] to keep it from seeming juvenile- I think that it actually sounds really sweet as a middle name or pet name- although if it was a ‘pet name’, it would be weird if you wanted the girl’s friends to call her that as well (I don’t know if this is hypothetical or not). You could also do something like: [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Amber[/name_f] (There’s a plum called a Blackamber)
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] (plums are usually purple)
[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] (idk if that’s too ‘out there’, but it’s also a type of plum)
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] ([name_f]Santa[/name_f] [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] plums)

Some of these names are sort of a stretch, but if you have the will, then…

Plumeria is a flower family. I think it could work as a name.

I know a Rosie called Plum (she’s about 20), but I’ve no idea how she came by that nickname!

Otherwise I think any names with a P at the start would work. I really like Paloma or Philomena with nickname Plum. And of course Victoria works too!

Here’s a thread where somebody was searching for the same thing:

I agree that it could be a pet name for any name starting in P.

I agree that [name_f]Plum[/name_f] could be a nickname for anything. It’s similar to [name_f]Peaches[/name_f].

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] came to mind first though. I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f].

Nothing. [name_m]Just[/name_m] call her [name_f]Plum[/name_f] as an affectionate pet name.

I think it would work for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], but I don’t believe that all nicknames must come from the name, so I think it would be fine to just call a daughter [name_f]Plum[/name_f] as nn regardless of her actual name.
