What color of names do you like?

What beautiful descriptions! I love them and they resonate very much with the characters. I hope you are a writer as you have such wonderful style :slightly_smiling_face: I’m interested if middle names change the colour of the first and how they present when you see them together? [name_u]Kai[/name_u]'s middles are [name_u]Ashton[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]… [name_m]Leo[/name_m]'s are [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] :hugs:

Hi Adelina_sophia! You helped a lot with deciding [name_m]Leo[/name_m]’s middle names to go with big brother [name_u]Kai[/name_u]! I’m interested to hear your colour associations for them! I find this so fascinating!

Wow, I’ve never heard of this before. Now I’m wondering if I have it…I think the closest thing I have is, as a writer, a good intuition on how I would make a character with a certain name look–or at least the hair/eye color and sometimes hair style. I don’t think that’s quite the same thing, is it?

I have very purple names, some quite literally. [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are literal, while [name_u]Rain[/name_u], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_u]Rory[/name_u], and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] just seem purple to me. I also have yellow names like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Joy[/name_f], [name_f]Selene[/name_f], and [name_u]Artemis[/name_u]. [name_f]Every[/name_f] time I say the name [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], I imagine a happy yellow and the musical tinkle of a bell, I’m not sure why!

Aw thank you! I do write some, not as much as I want but I should start getting back into it!
Middle names definitely change the colors!

[name_u]Kai[/name_u] [name_u]Ashton[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] (stunning name btw!): [name_u]Ashton[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] really mutes the color to me. It adds some stillness and calmness the name [name_u]Kai[/name_u] needs. It isn’t as chaotic as it once before. He’s the turquoise waves crashing on the beach in a cove. [name_u]Kai[/name_u] [name_u]Ashton[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] is the baby blue sparkles on the top of the water. He’s the color of shells buried in the sand and the burning sun in the sky.

[name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] (dazzling name!): [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] is a mixture of orange, yellow, deep reds, and dark greens. He’s the color of the dry grass and acacia trees on the horizon. He’s deep reds and oranges saturated in the sunset. He’s the same color as the mane of a sleeping lion.

i love the name [name_u]Fallon[/name_u] which is a beautiful dusky green and the name [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] which is like the colour of rosy cheeks, they are my favourite names with beautiful colours for boys.
i find the name [name_f]Lola[/name_f] is pale yellow and [name_f]Freyja[/name_f] is eucalyptus kind of green.
its really interesting how everyone has each different colours for different names though, for me names like [name_f]Selene[/name_f] make me think of orangey, brave red and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] is cool turquoise, like the sea on a sunny day. but we are all so different!

@flowellagrace I used to have [name_f]Freyja[/name_f] on my list (but spelled [name_f]Freya[/name_f]) and I totally agree about it being green! I even had it paired with [name_u]Sage[/name_u] as a mn!

@flowellagrace and @may.rose, I agree about [name_f]Freyja[/name_f] being green as well!! I also picture her by a small white stone tower next to a sageish green tree

Elodie to me can be aqua or light pink, depending on the combo.

Waverly is sooo pretty to me. Clear, bright aqua blue, like a pool, but more gel-like if that makes sense…in a wave of course!!

what are everyone’s color/image associations with the name [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]?

I think of it as dark, enchanting, magical, midnight blue, and a firey blue sapphire.

It’s definitely dark blue for me as well! I think it’s because of its similarity to [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f].

Oh my gosh! [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] is one of my prettiest name images! Most names are just one color with maybe a texture, but [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] is a gorgeous dark blue (around #312e75) with bright orange and yellow star-like dots and circles across it. I think it comes from the meaning (fiery) as well as its darkness and mystery.

Also [name_f]Freyja[/name_f] is definitely green! And [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] is a light aqua #85ebed. @EJpuddlejumper [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] being gel-like totally makes sense!
All my name crushes recently seem to be the ones that have the most definite colors. [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], for example, is a perfect sky blue.

yes totally [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] is dark blue, its like dark soft velvet, maybe slightly iridescent as well, like a mayfly.

Chelsea for me is pale yellowy orange, like a bit pastel or somewhere between the sunset and sunrise.
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u] is a lovely name! i think for me its more the colour of the wave crests though. frothy, wild, white and it reminds me of cartwheeling and squinty eyes against the sun. possibly because its connection to the sea and beach for me!

It’s interesting, it seems that a lot of people view names beginning with A as red- @Babies123456 said that most A names are red to them, @MichelleM said that [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] are red, @cactusgram said that [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] are pink, which is a form of red, @EJpuddlejumper said that Aerilyn is red-pink, @coffeeorangecats said that [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] was reddish, and those are among many! I wonder what other patterns are like this, and what causes that. Another thing is that we all seem to agree on the fact that delicate names are pale, and we seem to agree on which names fall into that category. For example, [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] I find to be a strong and steadfast name, and multiple people have said that it would be red, which is a strong, vibrant color. However, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a more delicate and whimsical name, and @cactusgram views her as pink, which is a paler form. It’s also strange how certain names got many mentions- [name_f]Rose[/name_f] was one that many people said was blush pink (although I picture it red), [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] got a lot of discussion, and so did [name_u]June[/name_u]. It seems that although there are definitely discrepancies, a lot of the names were similarly-colored across the board. That’s really cool! This is definitely something I want to study further.
What about the letters of the alphabet? What color would you assign each letter? [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t think about names or words beginning with the letter, just the letter itself.

C - affected by the surrounding letters, but always a pastel color, usually yellow or purple
D - Deep, [name_m]Rich[/name_m], purple
E - Sunflower Yellow
F - [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] [name_u]Green[/name_u] (though some of my favorite names start with F and are an auburn to me)
G - [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_u]Green[/name_u]

Y - yellow

wow @ your descriptions @EJpuddlejumper! I think my names are similarly complex, but I’m not as good a writer. I don’t have colors for letters, but I do have associations for the days of the week and months of the year.

Monday- cornflower blue
[name_f]Tuesday[/name_f]- bright red
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f]- grassy green
[name_m]Thursday[/name_m]- purple! also definitely associated with [name_u]November[/name_u].
[name_m]Friday[/name_m]- red, more cherry than [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f], recently read that 5*5=25=friday, and that is so true
[name_m]Saturday[/name_m]- I really can’t say. [name_u]Red[/name_u], maybe? [name_u]Blue[/name_u]? I don’t know why I can’t tell, but sometimes I figure out how to describe it a bit later.
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]- Yellow and sunny

January- pale, icy blue
[name_f]February[/name_f]- purple with touches of cornflower blue
[name_u]March[/name_u]- light green
[name_f]April[/name_f]- bright kelly green but a little yelllower
[name_f]May[/name_f]- bright, intense pink
[name_u]June[/name_u]- dark, lush green
[name_u]July[/name_u]- Greenish-yellow with bits of green, but not mixed.
[name_u]August[/name_u]- Straw colored, yellow-orangish
[name_f]September[/name_f]- [name_u]Golden[/name_u]
[name_f]October[/name_f]- orange and brown, earthy
[name_u]November[/name_u]- purple and brown
[name_u]December[/name_u]- blue

Also- I figured out [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]!! I used to think it was either cream-colored or the turquoise color of [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]’s outfit, but realized that the beginning is creamy white that swirls into the black ending! It’s weird how neither of my original ideas felt quite right- the name was just a mysterious feeling of a color that I couldn’t actually say what color it was until it fell into place.

I also have the days of the week and months in colors, and have some very unpopular opinions; [name_u]January[/name_u] is dark auburn/ brown-red, and [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] is a rainy day on a grassy fiels, maybe storming.

This is so interesting! I see A as a peachy pink and a lot of A names as the same, and those tend to be my favourites for some reason like [name_f]Amity[/name_f] and [name_m]Aramis[/name_m]. [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] has a lot of R sounds so it’s a bit more of a rosy pink (my favourite colour, which may be why it’s my favourite name!). Although I see E as a very strong red but a name like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is very yellow. Like @MichelleM I see quite a lot of letters as yellow and I love yellow names like [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], [name_f]Clio[/name_f], [name_f]Elissa[/name_f]. [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is a lovely powder blue to me and [name_m]Evander[/name_m] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] are both sort of muted reds. I guess my favourite names tend to be more pastel coloured rather than super bold, which is something I hadn’t realised before!
