What do you think of Tansy?

What sort of girl do you think she would be?

Could it stand alone or do you think it should be short for something?

I’m trying to decide if I like it enough to mention it to Hubby, I’m trying to sell myself on it, but could go either way right now, thanks.

Update: I think I could totally see us introducing our new daughter as a Tansy, would be a little sister to Jed.

What do you think?

I love [name_f]Tansy[/name_f]! I think it’s a great name. I think of someone cute and spunky. I can picture it on all ages; I think it’s pretty versatile. I do like the idea of using it as a nickname for something… although I’m not sure what. Still, despite the fact that I love it, I’m not 100% sold that it’s completely usable as a fn in reality… I’d like some opinions on that myself!

I quite like [name_f]Tansy[/name_f], I think it’s a really sweet name. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it with [name_m]Jed[/name_m] too.

It makes me think of the character from ‘[name_m]Hart[/name_m] of [name_f]Dixie[/name_f]’, so has kind of a down to earth, kind, optimistic, southern, girl-next-door feel to me.

I like [name_f]Tansy[/name_f] a lot. She’s sweet, but has a sneaky zest to her too. [name_m]Jed[/name_m] and [name_f]Tansy[/name_f] sound great together as siblings.

I love [name_f]Tansy[/name_f]. It’s one of my favourite names. I think of a friendly, countryside-loving little girl. The drawback is that I can’t see it very well on a middle-aged woman, though.

I put [name_f]Tansy[/name_f] and [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] in same category - offbeat, vintage word names that are bit childish. I like both.

I like [name_f]Tansy[/name_f], it kind of reminds me of [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] or [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. I think it is spunky and goes well with [name_m]Jed[/name_m].

I don’t like it because it sounds like pansy. A taunt used to call people weak or cowardice.

I love [name_f]Tansy[/name_f], I think it would be good as a nickname but I have no idea what it could be short for, maybe [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]? I think it would be great as a stand alone name. I see it being very versatile, and I think it would be really cute as a little sister to [name_m]Jed[/name_m].

I was actually going to say that I didn’t really like the name, but then I saw that she would be a sister to [name_m]Jed[/name_m], and my opinion completely changed 100%. I actually quite like [name_m]Jed[/name_m] and [name_f]Tansy[/name_f] together–both give off that midwest, prairie vibe. I think [name_f]Tansy[/name_f] is very sweet (not my style at all), but I can appreciate how much it compliments [name_m]Jed[/name_m] and works together.

Never heard it before but my first thought is that is sounded like [name_f]Pansy[/name_f].

The only reference I have for [name_f]Tansy[/name_f] is the TV show Big [name_u]Love[/name_u] that was on HBO a few years ago. They pronounced it like [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], not like [name_f]Pansy[/name_f]. Is that wrong? I prefer the sounds like [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] pronunciation.

[name_f]Tansy[/name_f] has been a favorite of mine for awhile! I love the offbeat flower names. I picture a [name_f]Tansy[/name_f] as southern, carefree, kind, and outgoing. The character on the [name_m]Hart[/name_m] of [name_f]Dixie[/name_f] made me love the name. I think her name might be spelled with a Z not an S though. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Tansy[/name_f] with [name_m]Jed[/name_m]!

I’ve played around with [name_f]Tansy[/name_f] as a nn before. I prefer it on its own but this is what I came up with…
[name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]- A big stretch, but I like [name_f]Tansy[/name_f] more than the other nn’s for this.
[name_f]Tania[/name_f]/[name_f]Tanya[/name_f]- A little stretch because it’s not said like [name_m]Tan[/name_m]-ya, but I think it could work.
[name_m]Tanner[/name_m]- Obvious I think. I find [name_m]Tanner[/name_m] unisex and similar to [name_u]Sutton[/name_u].
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]- Similar enough.
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]- Stancie is a common nn for [name_f]Constance[/name_f]. I just took Stancie to get to [name_f]Tansy[/name_f].

Although [name_m]Jed[/name_m] and [name_f]Tansy[/name_f] do sound great together, I don’t think I’d want to be a middle-aged or older [name_f]Tansy[/name_f]. It has a very ditzy ring to it [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

Living in Australia I have never heard of these shows, I discovered the name while reading up on conservationism for wwild animals.
