[name_f]Karen[/name_f] and [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]! And people think it’s spelled [name_m]Aaron[/name_m]. I don’t mind any of those, actually, it’s kind of fun
I’ve never got any mishearing’s (though I wouldn’t be surprised at [name_u]Jade[/name_u] or any other -aden names). I have got some misgenderings, though.
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_u]Raye[/name_u], and i’ve only gotten misheard once as [name_u]Red[/name_u]. I’ve had people understandably assume a different spelling of [name_u]Raye[/name_u] too, but i’d consider that different from mishearing it.
I like [name_u]Red[/name_u] a lot, but i’m not certain whether it would suit me.
[name_f]Milly[/name_f], [name_u]Holly[/name_u], [name_f]Polly[/name_f], anything ending in [name_u]Olly[/name_u], and once very randomly Jessica…still don’t know about that one
[name_f]Maddie[/name_f] & [name_f]Mindy[/name_f]. I got “It’s [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], right?” so often that I started introducing myself as [name_f]Amanda[/name_f], but I go by [name_u]Mandy[/name_u]
[name_f]Maddie[/name_f] & [name_f]Mindy[/name_f]. I got “It’s [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], right?” so often that I started introducing myself as [name_f]Amanda[/name_f], but I go by [name_u]Mandy[/name_u]
my full first name is [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] (pronounced keer-stin) and I get:
[name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] (kur-stin)
[name_f]Kristen[/name_f]
[name_f]Krista[/name_f]
[name_f]Christine[/name_f]
[name_u]Christian[/name_u]
[name_f]Kira[/name_f] (keer-uh)
& more!
People definitely mispronounce or mishear my name on first meeting way more often than they get it right in the U.S. (unless they’re Scandinavian or fans of [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] Dunst lol)
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_u]Mina[/name_u] so I’ve been called [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_f]Nina[/name_f] (ironically I had a friend in preschool named [name_f]Nina[/name_f] ), [name_f]Myna[/name_f], and never just [name_u]Mina[/name_u] ahha. [name_f]My[/name_f] last name has been butchered and misspelled too many times to count
People often add an N in the first syllable for some reason??
Also been misheard as
[name_u]Shelly[/name_u]
[name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f] / [name_u]Jackie[/name_u]
[name_f]Chantel[/name_f] / [name_f]Chantal[/name_f]
[name_u]Shadow[/name_u] [name_u]Lane[/name_u]
Other things that aren’t coming to mind
Been misremembered as
All the above
[name_f]Cinnamon[/name_f]
Chandelier (by several people, actually)
Moondance (they just remembered it was something weird🤦🏻♀️)
Other things that aren’t coming to mind
Been misread as
Cat-uh-line (???)
Chattlaine (with ch sound instead of sh)
Most people just give up & will ask lol (it’s genuinely not that hard to figure out if you give it more than half a second of thought )
