not misheard related, but people sometimes spell my name jayne instead how it’s supposed to be spelled, jane
people also sometimes call me janie when i don’t go by janie as a nickname

You’d think it would be impossible for someone to mispronounce my name, Charlotte, but I had a speech impediment when I was younger, and I HATED when someone asked me what my name was. I’d try so hard to pronounce the “R” and it would come out as “Cha-weah-tte.” and people would be like “You’re name is chawat?” And then I’d try to say it a couple more times and they’d hear it wrong every single time, until my mom or someone intervened and was told them my name was Charlotte. Poor little six year old me.
And then there’s this boy at school who can never remember my name, despite being in the same classes as me for over a year. It’s kinda hilarious what he thinks it is. At the start of this school year, his first guess was John, of all things. He’s also called me Samantha, Maddy, Abby, James, and Julie. It’s pretty funny.
I’m a [name_f]Christine[/name_f], so I get [name_f]Christi[/name_f], [name_f]Chrissy[/name_f], and [name_f]Christina[/name_f] (sometimes this one is on purpose).
[name_f]Sahara[/name_f], [name_f]Tera[/name_f], [name_u]Sierra[/name_u]
people almost always get my name right, as it’s very common where i live.
i usually tell my nickname and i think once was mistaken by “mili/millie”
and the other day i was at the green day concert and told my nickname and someone misheard it as “billie” (as in billie joe) and man i’d love to be a billie but i’d save that name for a cat
I’ve had all sorts. [name_u]Leo[/name_u], [name_m]Kian[/name_m], Teagan… [name_f]Leanne[/name_f] [name_u]Wilson[/name_u], one time, at a job interview. I just went along with it
Also, kind of a misspell-mishear combo, but this is my favourite that’s-not-my-name thing to ever happen to me. Because why would you assume my name was spelt like that off the bat?
[name_f]My[/name_f] original name was heard as ‘Janet’. The name I now use (Agnetha) has been misheard as ‘Agatha’.
[name_f]My[/name_f] little sister’s friend heard ‘Luna’, once, though admittedly it was over the phone.
Not my name, but my son is [name_m]Gabe[/name_m] and people hear it as “Dave” quite often.
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] - recently it was misheard as [name_f]Laura[/name_f]. I’ve gotten [name_f]Cara[/name_f] or [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] before but I could probably count on one hand the number of times someone’s gotten confused over [name_f]Sarah[/name_f].
I vividly remember getting [name_m]Steven[/name_m] at one point when a classmate acknowledged something that I did and my professor corrected him.
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u] and people always think my name is [name_f]Wendy[/name_f]. It only happens when I am placing a takeout order over the phone. I have picked up my food so many times with the name [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] on ticket. Lol. It actually happens to me a lot.
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] like a million times.
One boy in particular called me [name_f]Elisabet[/name_f] or [name_f]Elisabeta[/name_f] even though I corrected him all the time.
I’ve gotten quite a few Elizabeth’s as well!
One person thought I was an [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]!
Two others thought I was [name_f]Jezebel[/name_f]!
X🍃
i get katie all the time (my name is heidi)
I’m [name_f]Paula[/name_f], and I get [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] a lot. [name_f][/name_f] Both misheard and misread.
Well, mostly it’s misprounciation. Somehow my name (Jenna) get’s pronounced as [name_f]Gina[/name_f] a lot. And for the first time at a coffee shop the other day, when I said [name_f]Jenna[/name_f], they heard [name_m]Tam[/name_m]? Definitely the wildest one I’ve gotten.
As a [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], I’ve gotten “Lizzie”, “Lissy”, and “Susie”. People don’t mishear my name very often though
Jackeleen
[name_f][/name_f]Jackeleigh (literally nails on a chalkboard to me)
[name_f][/name_f]And my very favorite, my student who calls me Jacket.
[name_m]Taylor[/name_m], [name_f]Natalia[/name_f], [name_f]Tayla[/name_f], [name_f]Aaliyah[/name_f], [name_f]Tanya[/name_f], [name_f]Italia[/name_f], [name_m]Tyler[/name_m]
Not me but my friend [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] gets [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f] ALL the time, which is so funny to me because those are not remotely as popular of names.
