➳ What is Your All-Time Favorite Name?

What’s your all-time favorite name, and why? (Or if you really can’t choose, top three!)

Hands down, mine is [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. I love the short (yet deep) meaning–“life.” [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] to me is vivacious, beautiful, and has a musical sound and lovely spelling. I know for sure that she’s never going to be dropping off my lists! :rose::white_heart:

Runners up are [name_f]Elowyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Waverley[/name_f].

What about you?

[name_m]Simon[/name_m]. Not 100% on why, but it’s been my all-time favorite boys name for years, it just checks every box for me.

Not currently planning on having any children, but in the increasingly unlikely event that I change my mind about that someday and have a son, his name would be [name_m]Simon[/name_m] [name_u]John[/name_u] (John is for my late father).

I don’t have one favorite girls name right now. It was [name_f]Athena[/name_f] for a while (which I still adore) and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] “Mia” for years before (got too popular for me but I still like it). [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_f]April[/name_f], [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] “Sadie,” [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], and [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] are major contenders.

I would have to say it’s [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. I love the gentle and nature-y vibes I get from this name. Though she isn’t always on my lists, I’ll always love her  :butterfly:

The name I’ve loved for the longest is Bridget. I adore her, but I can’t see myself ever using her for a real child because it’s what I named my flute

My absolute top name for the past year or so has been Gloria!

For boys, Sasha & Emrys!

I think I’ll say [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is mine. She’s one I never, never tire of. Been in my life since I was maybe 7, and I’ve still yet to meet one IRL! She’s such a special name. Literary or course, not hyper-femme or lacy (but not not feminine), grounded, important, smart. I love this name. It’s my favorite pick for a baby, truly, no matter what other names cross my mind and excite me. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is such a special gal.

(Close runner-up is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], I’d say, and [name_u]Florence[/name_u] is definitely another.)

For a boys name it is [name_u]Chase[/name_u] and for a girl it is Jennilyn

[name_f]Leonora[/name_f] :sunny: all the way. She’s sunny and bright, classic but not overused, and has good nickname options  For a while she was just a ‘name crush’ for me, but she’s been on my list for so long, I think she’s here to stay :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Probably [name_m]Osiris[/name_m]. He’s been my absolute favorite since I was 12 years old, and while my boys list have changed over the years, and my girls list have changed quite a bit, [name_m]Osiris[/name_m] has never changed, for a while the combo was [name_m]Osiris[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] but I realized I loved the original combo I came up with when I was about 12/13, [name_m]Osiris[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_u]Reign[/name_u] and I still absolutely adore him :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

[name_f]My[/name_f] fav girl name is Ottilie… I saw it one time when I was looking for full names for [name_f]Lily[/name_f], It’s been my all time fav girl name ever since

[name_f]My[/name_f] fav boy name is Archer… This name has meaning behind it. I had a very special and very kind teacher in 6th grade who had this as her last name and when she left the school, it made me sad so eventually, I kept seeing the name [name_u]Archer[/name_u] EVERYWHERE and I just fell in love with it… It’s so handsome and I didn’t know this at the time but an archer is actually the “character” of a Sagittarius which is my zodiac sign

For girls Abigail is just about perfect for meaning and sweet nickname options. Naomi and Eden are high up there too.

For boys Samuel (Sam) is the sweetest name in existence to me. I kept running into this name everywhere when I was going through the hardest time of my life and the meaning kept calling out to me “God has heard you” and gave me hope. I would pair it with Isaac because together it is “God has heard you and brought you laughter”

 I love that joint meaning of [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]!

For girls, mine is [name_u]Harlow[/name_u]! I don’t know why, but I’ve always liked [name_u]Harlow[/name_u]. I even went through a [name_f]Harlowe[/name_f] phase, but I decided that just [name_u]Harlow[/name_u] is better because of simplicity. [name_u]Harlow[/name_u] doesn’t exactly fit with the rest of the names I like, but it’s my number one!

(Runner ups: [name_f]Althea[/name_f] and Stella)

For boys, it’s [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]! I discovered [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] when I was in fifth grade at a historical shipyard; it was the name of the owner of the house in the 1800s. Since then, [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] has always been in the back of my head and sort of recently became my all-time favorite boy name! I don’t think I really have a reason why I like [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] so much, but maybe because it’s more uncommon and old fashioned?

(Runner ups: [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and Dexter)

Between [name_u]Harlow[/name_u] and [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m], I do think [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] is my all time favorite name overall!!

[name_f]My[/name_f] #1 top name of all of them is [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]. I love the sound, look, feel, associations, and nicknames. [name_m]Just[/name_m] saying it makes me smile, and I can’t really imagine not having a lil’ [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] if I have kids one day.

For girls, it’s Maryelle. I can’t really pinpoint why. I remember the first time hearing this name over a decade ago and it was just it, ya know? It’s so gorgeous in every way to me. Saying it out loud almost gives me goosebumps in a way, and I love how the spelling is like a combination of two names but it feels like its own name in its own right.

For boys, it would probably be [name_m]Slade[/name_m]. Again, one of my long-time name loves, probably since I was 11 or 12. I find it sleek, cool, always in style but not too common, and just generally everything you’d want in a name.

I’m sure anyone who’s been on here for a while will know that mine is [name_f]Sarai[/name_f]. It’s just the coolest, prettiest name for me - sharp and yet not harsh, has that cool ‘eye’ sound I love, feminine but not frilly, princessy but not fussy, has the unisex nn option of Rai/Rye/Sy and I’ve loved it for a very long time

Mine has been [name_u]Jude[/name_u] since I was 14 years old (so about half my lifetime now). I love that it’s a Biblical/saint name without feeling overtly religious, it discreetly honors a deceased family member, it’s gender neutral, it has musical connections, and its simplicity gives it the flexibility to sound both modest & gentle and streamlined cool. And I love the letters/sounds that make it up, soft and strong.

June. I can’t explain it. She is just so warm and sunny; vintage, yet down to earth.

[name_f]Anna[/name_f]

I’ve loved this name since I was a child. For a little girl who had a lot going on in her life, I loved that I could find this name (or a version of it) in so many books that I read. It felt safe and consistent.

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is also a really beautiful name that is enhanced by its simplicity. It doesn’t have to be long or complex to be beautiful. I love that two syllables is all it needs to evoke beauty, femininity, grace and really so many other vibes.

I would use this name for myself, absolutely, but I don’t want to change my name. I would use it for a daughter but there’s a very negative family association I married in to. It breaks my heart that I’ll never get to use this name in any way…

[name_u]Henry[/name_u] + [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], for sure.

[name_u]Henry[/name_u] was one of the first names I ever loved, and has been on my list since I started making them around 11. [name_m]Even[/name_m] with every [name_u]Henry[/name_u] I meet and new association I have, I don’t think I could ever shake just how much I love this name and it feels so right for my list / a potential future child.

[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] ticks every box. It’s a name that never fails to make me smile, maybe even more than [name_u]Henry[/name_u] sometimes. If I were never able to use it, it would be the name I’d be most sad about getting away.
