Like the title says.
My favorite right now is [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f].

Disa and [name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Marit[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Gunilla[/name_f]
Runa
[name_f]Siri[/name_f]
[name_f]Solveig[/name_f]
[name_f]Ulla[/name_f]
Does [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] count as a Norse name?
Valkyrie, only one I like
love the name Valkyrie, not into the others
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Greta[/name_f] (not sure if that counts)
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] is my favourite. I also really ljke [name_f]Freya[/name_f]. Is [name_f]Thora[/name_f] Norse? I’m a big fan of [name_f]Thora[/name_f]!
[name_f]Ilsa[/name_f] and Idunn!
FYI, none of the names mentioned on this thread are Norse… Many of them are Nordic but none of them are Norse. Norse was a medieval language. Modern Icelandic is very close but not exactly the same. Modern Scandinavian languages are very different. So a Norse name is Ingiríðr, not [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], ”stríðr not [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], Freyja not [name_f]Freya[/name_f], Þóra not [name_f]Thora[/name_f] etc etc. Some Norse names survive as Icelandic/Faroese names, but basically there is no such thing as a Norse name in the 21st century.
I love [name_f]Saga[/name_f], [name_f]Maja[/name_f], [name_f]Asta[/name_f], Freyja (or the [name_f]Freja[/name_f] spelling)
I am in love with [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] but am too worried about the obvious nicknames and taunting to use it
[name_u]Love[/name_u] Valkyrie! Also like [name_f]Inga[/name_f] and [name_f]Brunhilde[/name_f]
@jackal, oops! Thanks for clarifying that!
[name_f]Linnea[/name_f] & [name_f]Signy[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]- my sister’s name.
Freyja- Norse goddess.
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]- just like it.
[name_f]Signe[/name_f]- a family name.
[name_f]Thora[/name_f]- just like it!
These are my favorites. Runners-up are [name_f]Idony[/name_f] and Sif! (For modernized Norse specifically, not general Scandinavian- there’s a difference!
)
And yes, this is true, but I am referring to the Modern Scandinavian versions of the Old Norse names! ![]()
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Idony[/name_f]
[name_f]Thora[/name_f]
I was prepared to say that I love [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] ([name_f]Kaja[/name_f]?) and [name_f]Maja[/name_f] (although not as much as [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]!), [name_f]Liv[/name_f], [name_f]Linnea[/name_f], Brynja, [name_u]Dagny[/name_u], [name_f]Dagmar[/name_f], [name_f]Siri[/name_f], and [name_f]Solveig[/name_f], but I don’t know if they really count! Apparently, I don’t know enough about Norse vs. modern Scandinavian names? Or are they even Scandinavian? I know Brynja’s Icelandic (I think?), but I’m not really sure about the others. I’d always heard that [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] was a Scandinavian form of [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], but I’m guessing it’s not Norse? I’m not sure what to classify them as now!
Freya- one of my top girls names! Absolutely adore it
Sigrid- has the same feel as Brighid which is another of my favourite names
Tora- beautiful sound and meaning
Linnea- same as above
Sunniva- same as above
Solveig- same as above
