What is your pet's full name?

We have a [name_m]German[/name_m] shepherd named [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m]

You guys all have such interesting names! I have a blue English staffy named [name_m]Diesel[/name_m]. We got him when I was 11 so my Dad suggested the name! No idea how he got it actually. I wanted to name him [name_u]Blue[/name_u] but according to Dad it was unoriginal lol. We called him Pup from when he was little so he answers to that too, even though he’s 5 now!

A couple of years ago, in the space of one year, I lost all three of my pets due to declining health due to old age: [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] [name_f]Susan[/name_f] “[name_f]Susie[/name_f]” (tabby cat, 16yrs), [name_f]Roxy[/name_f] (foxy x chihuahua, 14yrs) & Snowy (Maltese x papillon, 16yrs). I miss my babies every day…

…but, never a household to be without pets, soon after Snowy left us (we didn’t want to bring another pet home when he was still here with him being in such a fragile state at his age), we brought two papillon x shihtzu puppies home. Almost two now, we have brothers, [name_u]Wynn[/name_u] & [name_m]Cove[/name_m]. The only explanation for their names is that I just adored [name_u]Wynn[/name_u], and wanting to find a sweet, one syllable, unusual name to match it, I came up with lovely little [name_m]Cove[/name_m]. I had considered calling them [name_u]Domino[/name_u] & [name_u]Onyx[/name_u] (they’re black & white), but I’m so glad I went with the simpler, sweeter options, as the names just suit them so much. Storytime: [name_m]Just[/name_m] before they turned 1, [name_u]Wynn[/name_u] got spooked by an off-leash dog on a walk in the city, he bolted, and quickly disappeared…we searched for him for 10 whole days with not a word (I have never been so distraught!), before we finally got a call from someone who had found him, 5km away! He’s a lucky little guy, our little [name_u]Wynn[/name_u]-[name_u]Wynn[/name_u]!

I forgot to say why he is called Mister [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. Originally just Mister because he is male. ‘[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]’ was added after the late [name_m]Aston[/name_m] [name_f]Villa[/name_f] chairman [name_m]Doug[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u].

We have two cats…[name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]

I have two cats, Gizmo [name_m]Hercules[/name_m] and Furby [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m].

I think I’ve posted before but I have a rat (yes rat) named [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] “[name_u]Theo[/name_u]”, and just got a fish [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] “[name_u]Ollie[/name_u]”

I have two cats. One grey tabby named [name_f]Eve[/name_f] (although we usually call her [name_f]Evie[/name_f]), and one tuxedo cat named [name_m]York[/name_m]. My brother named [name_f]Eve[/name_f] after the robot in [name_m]Wall[/name_m]-E, and I named [name_m]York[/name_m] after the main character in Deadly Premonition.

i have a rescue dog from romania (probably a german shepherd/whippet mix) named clover  she does not have a middle name though. she is approximately 7 months and i got her almost 3 months ago.

I have a rescue dog that is a full blooded beagle named [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] and 2 (sisters) [name_m]German[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]/Australian [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] mixes named Panda [name_m]Bear[/name_m] and [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. I wanted to name Panda [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] “[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]” [name_f]May[/name_f] and [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] “[name_u]Penny[/name_u]” [name_f]Anne[/name_f] but they were already named when we got them.

I have two kittens who are 8 month old brothers (I’m an accountant so their official titles are more jokes on what my coworkers were telling me to name them)

Sir [name_m]Casper[/name_m] of Debit (a buff/light orange tabby) “[name_m]Casper[/name_m]” aka [name_m]Cas[/name_m], or [name_f]Cassie[/name_f]
[name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]Llewellyn[/name_m] of Credit (a darker orange tabby) “[name_m]Louis[/name_m]” aka [name_u]Lou[/name_u] or [name_u]Lou[/name_u] [name_u]Lou[/name_u]

My brother has a st. bernard - [name_m]Galileo[/name_m] who’s akc registered name is [name_m]Galileo[/name_m] Figaro Galilei
Then my parents cat is a tortie named [name_f]Luna[/name_f]

[name_u]Silver[/name_u] tabby cat

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] Mischief [name_u]Allison[/name_u]

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]: One of my favorite names that I would probably never use on an actual child.
Mischief: self explanatory haha she gets herself into a lot of trouble
[name_u]Allison[/name_u]: My last name, plus I like the actress [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_u]Allison[/name_u]

Nicknames: [name_u]June[/name_u], Junibee jones

[name_f]Zahra[/name_f] Dusk [name_f]Leela[/name_f] - [name_m]Black[/name_m] one-eyed cat. We often call her “[name_f]Lil[/name_f] [name_u]Baby[/name_u] One-Eye” and “[name_f]Tiny[/name_f] Girl.”

  • [name_f]Zahra[/name_f]: A name I’d been obsessed with back when we acquired our male cat [name_m]Midnight[/name_m]. His name was supposed to be [name_f]Zahra[/name_f], until the vet surprised us and revealed he was not a girl as we’d been told!
  • Dusk: Short films are my passion, and Dusk was the name of the most poignant and influential short film I saw the year we acquired her.
  • [name_f]Leela[/name_f]: The name the shelter gave her, after Futurama’s Turanga [name_f]Leela[/name_f]. We thought it was clever, so we kept it!

[name_m]Midnight[/name_m] Zarathustra - [name_m]Black[/name_m] cat.

  • [name_m]Midnight[/name_m]: He’s black and I thought it was cute. That was my whole thought process.
  • Zarathustra: His name was intended to be [name_f]Zahra[/name_f]. We’d been told he was a girl, but spoiler alert: he was not! Zarathustra was the only male version of [name_f]Zahra[/name_f] I could come up with; plus, I was in high school band at the time and one of the pieces we performed was, “Thus Spake Zarathustra.”

[name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] “[name_u]Max[/name_u]” - Chonky long-haired something-or-other cat. We tend to call him “Fatty [name_u]Max[/name_u]” and “Chonky Boy.”

  • [name_u]Max[/name_u]: This was the name given to him at the shelter we adopted him from.
  • [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m]: My brother was supposed to get to name him, seeing as I insisted on naming every other pet we had, but he thought it’d be less confusing to keep calling him what the shelter had been calling him. So he extended [name_u]Max[/name_u] into [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m], named for Robespierre because of his interest in the [name_m]French[/name_m] Revolution.
  • [name_m]Louis[/name_m]: Pronounced “[name_m]Louie[/name_m].” This was also a [name_m]French[/name_m] Revolution name from my brother, in honor of the beheaded king.

[name_f]Shadow[/name_f] [name_f]Ani[/name_f] - [name_m]Black[/name_m] lab-dachshund mix.

  • [name_f]Shadow[/name_f]: Again, she was black, and I thought it was cute. I was a very creative namer as a kid.
  • [name_f]Ani[/name_f]: My brother’s choice. He was about six at the time and obsessed with [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars. He wanted [name_m]Anakin[/name_m]; I said absolutely not, that’s a boy’s name. We settled on [name_f]Ani[/name_f] ("[name_f]Annie[/name_f]"), the name his mother calls him in the first film.

[name_u]Penny[/name_u] - [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]/[name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], we usually call her [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. (Half [name_m]German[/name_m] shepherd, half Australian shepherd mix) [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] is really something only I use. (She’s a copper penny sort of color. I call her [name_f]Copper[/name_f] [name_u]Penny[/name_u] sometimes, too.)

Panda - Panda [name_m]Bear[/name_m]. (Half [name_m]German[/name_m] shepherd, half Australian shepherd mix) (She has patches around each of her eyes like a panda bear) If she weren’t already named when we adopted her, I wanted to name her [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] and her full name would’ve been [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f].

[name_u]Hunter[/name_u] - [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] [name_m]Raymond[/name_m]. (A beagle) He didn’t have a middle name up until about a year ago when I finally got sick of not have anything to call him that sounding more threatening.

[name_f]Tiny[/name_f] - [name_f]Tiny[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. A cat that was so tiny when she was born, that she could curl up in the palm of your hand, so thus, my siblings and I being around 10 at the time, named her [name_f]Tiny[/name_f]. And [name_f]Tiny[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] happened because we needed something to yell when she’s being bad.

[name_u]Angel[/name_u] - [name_u]Angel[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. (A cat) We never really officially decided that her middle name would be [name_f]Grace[/name_f], we just kind of started calling her [name_u]Angel[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] (the same with [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]). I can’t remember why we named her [name_u]Angel[/name_u] though, I’m sure it was probably just something my sister liked or something.

We have a lot of other animals, because we have a lot of barn cats, but no others with full names. To list those with only first names:

Our dog’s name is [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. Really she just got her middle name from my soon-to-be sister-in-law insisting we name her [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. I don’t care much for that name and don’t see it fitting our rowdy pit-mix very well so we called it her middle name and went with our choice for the first: [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. We usually just end up calling her [name_f]Bea[/name_f] for short.

[name_f]Calico[/name_f] [name_f]Cat[/name_f] - Popsicle
nm Popsy

Calls herself: Mowelle

Named after my Grandma dreamed that Popsy was frozen in the shape of a Popsicle with her tail as the stick. Gruesome I know… lol

I have a 9-10 yo male fat cat. His name is Mr. Fatboy [name_m]Trevor[/name_m].

I have two kitties currently:

A slightly tubby, black and white female named [name_f]Lily[/name_f] (just because she somehow fit that name)
A long, slim, grey and brown tabby male named Nijinsky nn [name_f]Jinx[/name_f] (named after the dancer Vaslav Nijinsky who was known for his incredible leaps)

I just got a new puppy! Her name is [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. She’s joining big brother [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] and big sisters [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and Panda [name_m]Bear[/name_m].
