What's your favorite boy's name?

So, so tough!

I think it’ll have to be

[name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u].

I love that [name_u]August[/name_u] has a kind of lazy strength to it. It reminds me of the laziness of summer, but it’s also so handsome and hardy. [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is a family name (and my favorite saint). Auggie and [name_u]Gus[/name_u] are both adorable nicknames, and if he hates them he’s always got AJ as a backup. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.

Honorable mentions: [name_m]Finnian[/name_m], [name_m]Gideon[/name_m], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], and [name_m]Edward[/name_m] ([name_m]Ned[/name_m]).

[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] is one of my absolute favorites. I love that it means laughter. What a cute meaning. I love Biblical names so [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], [name_m]Aaron[/name_m], and [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] are other favorites. I’m also a fan of names ending in -en/an/on, so I like [name_u]Camden[/name_u], [name_u]Aidan[/name_u], [name_m]Deacon[/name_m], and [name_u]Keaton[/name_u].

[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] has been my favorite boy’s name for years and I really don’t know why. It’s classic, strong and friendly. If I had a son today, this would be his name for sure, and I don’t care if it’s really popular today.

Others: [name_m]Raphael[/name_m], [name_m]Francisco[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_m]Graham[/name_m]

I really can’t stop thinking about [name_u]Blaise[/name_u]. I think it has a softness at the surface but bedrock beneath. The famous Blaises- [name_m]Saint[/name_m] [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] the physician, and [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] [name_m]Pascal[/name_m]-- are amazing namesakes. It’s homonymous with ‘blaze,’ which adds a little hipness to the name and keeps it from sounding hopelessly saintly and ancient. And it fits beautifully with my existing two children’s names.

[name_m]Alexzander[/name_m], I don’t know why but I have always loved it.

I went back and edited my post and I still feel like I put too much thought into my favorites. I’ve really enjoyed reading these responses though!

[name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] is my favorite boys name. I have loved it for probably 10-12 years now. I think it’s adorable on a little boy and very handsome on an adult. It would sort of honor my mom too. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom’s first and middle names are feminine forms of [name_m]John[/name_m] and has the same meaning as [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m]. (Disclaimer: It is NOT after the actor [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_m]Meyer[/name_m]!)

I have been really drawn to:

[name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] / name means peace and this spelling is my favorite / nickname [name_m]Geo[/name_m] or [name_m]Ry[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] … [name_m]Long[/name_m] time fav / love the k sound at the end / means Laughter
[name_m]Malachi[/name_m]…long time fav / strong / handsome / not too common
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m] nn [name_u]Pax[/name_u] …sounds great when I say it
[name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] / another Hebrew fav / Like the boldness of the hard c sounds
[name_m]Ryland[/name_m] …never been a [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] fan, but love [name_m]Ry[/name_m] as a nickname and [name_m]Landon[/name_m] as a full name so this is one I am drawn to

Lately [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] has been my favourite, nickname [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] possibly. I used to love it a couple years ago but hearing it a lot made me weary. I’ve decided recently popularity doesn’t bother me.

Well, I haven’t posted in a while…but I’ve been thinking a lot about names lately!

I don’t think I can pick just one! Recently, I’ve been loving:
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]-It’s well known, easy to pronounce, but not common where I am. I’ve loved this name for years!
[name_u]James[/name_u]-This one has been growing on me lately! Nn [name_u]Jamie[/name_u]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]-This is just a wonderful classic. I can imagine it on a young boy and a grown man and it just gives me a warm feeling!

I’ll just leave my top ten:

Chetan [name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_u]Steel[/name_u]
[name_m]Arrow[/name_m]
[name_m]Lynx[/name_m]
[name_m]Wolf[/name_m]
[name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_u]Cedar[/name_u]
[name_m]Valor[/name_m]
Dalamar

As you can clearly see, I’m into nature-inspired names for boys. [name_f]My[/name_f] dad is with the DNR and I grew up in a state park. Chetan (rhymes with Peytan) is the [name_u]Lakota[/name_u] word for hawk and has been my number one boys’ for a long while now. ([name_m]Paul[/name_m] is my dad’s name and would be the middle.) [name_u]Steel[/name_u] and Dalamar are characters in one of my favorite series - AWESOME strong characters that I fell in love with in high school and then just grew to love the names on their own.

I love all of these because they’re memorable, distinctive, easy to spell, and you don’t hear them over and over and over again. Well, I should say you don’t hear them a ton now; that might not be the case when I get around to using them, but still. These are the ones I just keep coming back to. With boys, I feel like you just hear the same twenty names used over and over again, and after a while they start to sound like generic brands. As in, “Oh look, another fill-in-the-blank.” [name_u]Aidan[/name_u], [name_m]Brandon[/name_m], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_m]Jacob[/name_m]. (Mind, I’m not bashing those names or anyone who loves them. I just feel like they’re overused.)

[name_m]Raphael[/name_m]! I see I’m the second vote for it, haha. [name_u]Love[/name_u] how romantic it is, and the artist connection. Plus the angel gives it great meaning.

At this moment, I’m loving [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. Classic without being pretentious and familiar without being overused. And I love that it has one of the great all-boy nicknames.

[name_m]Joseph[/name_m] has been my favorite for the longest. [name_m]Joe[/name_m]. Pure strength.

[name_m]Edward[/name_m] is also a long-time favorite… mostly as a way to get to [name_m]Ned[/name_m].

My favorite name is [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. Not because of Twilight, but because of my late grandfather.

[name_u]Jude[/name_u]. It was my first love and I always fall back to it. It’s a name perfect for a little boy, a teenager and an adult. I just love it.

This is really hard because I love so many names!

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] would be my ultimate favourite because its a strong name used by many great people in history. [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is a lovely name, I like the nickname [name_m]Ned[/name_m] or [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. I like [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] as well, with the nickname being [name_m]Art[/name_m].

[name_u]Michael[/name_u] would 100% be the middle name.

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_m]Charles[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]

Ooh…I have a lot of trouble with boys’ names but my favorite FN is definitely [name_m]Judah[/name_m]. Close ties are [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], Zephan, [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] (Solo!), and [name_m]Gage[/name_m].

I wanted to leave several, but since you asked for a singular name I’ll try to oblige:

I think [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is my favourite. I remember a goofy guy in my school carrying the name; he always made everybody laugh and was active in all student organisations. I just had such a great impression of him and his name was kind of unique in my country at the time. I’ve liked it ever since then. The nicknames [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] just make the name even more irresistible. My SO doesn’t like it --I’ve given up convincing him after 4 years-- so it looks like I’ll never have a little [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], which actually breaks my heart a little.

[name_m]Harrison[/name_m] is my very favourite! At the moment I’m liking combo [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] [name_u]Blake[/name_u].

My absolute favorite has been [name_m]Henry[/name_m] for quite a while now. Sometimes I think about using [name_m]Baker[/name_m], [name_m]Shepard[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], or [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]… but ultimately [name_m]Henry[/name_m] wins every time.
