Trying to honor my grandma [name_f]Antonina[/name_f] and [name_m]Eitan[/name_m] [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] type names can be nicknamed [name_u]Tony[/name_u], and she went by [name_f]Tonya[/name_f].
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] means “help” and she lived a very altruistic life always serving others…
I posted here before considering [name_u]Antoine[/name_u] [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] but I am having a change of heart about [name_u]Antoine[/name_u].
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and [name_m]Natan[/name_m] [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] are both very nice, I think between the two I like [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] slightly more just because if the number of boys I’ve met under the age of 10 with [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]. Natan also serves to bring in the nickname you wanted to honor your grandma with.
Thank you. Interesting that no winner so far… One note - [name_m]Natan[/name_m] is not a typo, in the first name position I don’t want to use a name with a “th” sound because my native language doesn’t have it and is is hard and unnatural for me to pronounce it. This is also why I am considering [name_m]Eitan[/name_m] (hebrew prononciation) version of [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]
I like [name_m]Natan[/name_m] [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] best! [name_m]Eitan[/name_m] is my second choice. I love the pronunciation of [name_m]Natan[/name_m] much better than [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] anyway, and [name_m]Natan[/name_m] [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] is a beautiful name.
Thank you. I asked my 12 yo daughter yesterday, and she pointed out that [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is too similar to her name, which is [name_f]Esther[/name_f].
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it is a problem? I have 4 kids, the others are named [name_m]Rafael[/name_m], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] and [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]
I don’t think [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] are too similiar…there is no way to mi-hear [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and think [name_f]Esther[/name_f] or vice-versa. They both share the beginning E is all. Esss-ther…Ezzzz-ra…that is how I say them in my mind, so I don’t think they’re too similar.
All of your children have lovely names! Originally I was very fond of [name_m]Natan[/name_m], but the more I say [name_m]Eitan[/name_m] [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] to myself, the more I like it. (And I don’t normally like alliteration in names.) Knowing all of your children’s names also makes me feel that [name_m]Eitan[/name_m] fits in well amongst the bunch.
So an update. Babe is here, was born on Feb 20. Still no name, I have changed my mind at least 5 times since his birth.
Went into the hospital set on Aaron Nathaniel. He doesn’t look like Aaron. He doesn’t look like Ezra. Mom lobbies for Yonatan/Jonathan, but even though I agree with we on lovely rich nickname posdibilitues, and honoring her mom and grandpa with it ( he was Efim and and went by Yunya, Yonatan can be nicknamed Yoni and has many letters of my grandma Antonina’s name in it), it doesn’t sit well with me. Hubby keeps saying no to many of my suggestions and keeps offering names don’t want like Ariel and Daniel
I need to get back to the registrar by 11 am today. (in 4 hrs local time( with the name to avoid going through a complicated process of adding a name later after he is regitered with no name.
What do you all think of Nathaniel Ephraim?
Nathaniel - I an see it on him and still has a lot of pluses of Yonatan/jonathan, and Ephraim for my mom’s gandpa Efim?
Also my husband’s is Yosef and biblical Ephraim was a son of biblical Yosef…
