Here’s another suggestion. I forgot about this cheesy bakery name that I came up with when I was 12ish. [name_f]Sugar[/name_f] and Spice (we make everything nice!). Loll

Another poll–I’m naming a male character in the Victorian era. The two main characters that he’s friends with have psychic powers, and he is absolutely fascinated by everything in the spiritualism movement. He’s enthusiastic and gullible, and about 18 years old.

Which name?
  • Merriweather
  • Amadeus
  • Everard
  • Linus
  • Gideon
  • Penrose

I’m naming a character for a story, but I’m conflicted. The character is female, black, has medium length dark brown hair that she always wears natural, has ocean-blue eyes (her eyes are naturally light brown but its part of the story), petite, and 14-15 over the course of the story. The story is set in Italy, but in the future. Other characters are Kira, Sebastian, Alessia, Seraphina, David, Bianca, and Neil. For me, meaning is the most important thing. Meaning must have something to do with water. I’m leaning towards Maya/ Maia/ Mya, but I can’t pick a spelling. Also considering Ginevra, as it is Italian and has a water meaning. But is it too tied to Ginny Weasley? Open to other suggestions as well!

I went with [name_f]Maya[/name_f] because it has the letter Y and none of the other names do. I think I prefer [name_f]Maia[/name_f], but [name_f]Maya[/name_f] seems like it has more contrast?

I’m already onto a new story :woman_facepalming: So picture like an I Am Not Okay With This/Stranger Things aesthetic. Wood panelled walls, dead end streets, train tracks, flannel blankets, possibly strange happenings. Which names?
I know there will be an older teen boy, his younger sister, and his female best friend. Other than that, I don’t know how many there might be in the central group. Maybe 4, maybe 5.

[name_m]Merriweather[/name_m] is such a gorgeous, underappreciated name, but I love it.

Isn’t it? I love it too. I ended up naming the character [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_m]Merriweather[/name_m].

The letter Y doesn’t exist in the Italian alphabet and is only seen in foreign words/names so I went with [name_f]Maia[/name_f] due to that. Not sure of its use in [name_f]Italy[/name_f].

I don’t think [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] is too tied to HP- but I would maybe call her Evra as a nickname instead of [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] which I find kind of is (though even that is changing due to that new Netflix show)

Evra is really cute! I love that idea!

Thank you!

So I’ve got this character and her name is Rebecca Margaux Porter. The nickname that she prefers is Becca, but there’s this mean girl who I want to call her by a different nickname. Should it be Beckie or Bex?

I don’t know why, but I’m set on the name Amethyst for this character. They’re a fairy who is the peace keeper between three nations:

  • Amethyst Clarity

Ok, so I need a name for a 16-17 year old boy who’s a servant/hired hand who has had a rough past. He’s shy, reserved, submissive, and a bit depressed. The story is set somewhere in 1880s. I’m thinking his last name should be Nelson, but that could change. (He shares the main character position with a girl named Hester (Essy) Loftmeyer)

  • Ira
  • Stephen (pronounced like Stefen)
  • Emil
  • Willis
  • Jess
  • Wallace
  • Ivan
  • Wilbur

Assume I was making something that auto-generates Harry Potter fanfiction.

Ginny should be short for
  • Ginevra (her real name)
  • Virginia (more common in fanfiction and therefore a trope)
  • Can’t you make it so that that’s also auto-generated?
  • you’re doing what?
