What’s your favorite name that you probably would not use because of pronunciation issues in real life?
For me it’s Isla!

[name_f]Sadhbh[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f]!
The first to come to mind are Rosaline and Rosalind! I only like them when they start with the “rose” sound in the first syllable, and Rosaline ending in the “leen” sound.

I’m biased cause I have a slight speech impediment that makes me have trouble pronouncing my “R”s correctly among other things so the name [name_u]Rory[/name_u] has always been a nightmare for me.
But I find names like [name_u]Josie[/name_u], where it’s supposed to be pronounced Jo-Sea but because of my issues is pronounced Jo-Zee naturally seems to bother people, so I would stay away from names like that as well
Evaline, I love with the “line” ending but people might confuse for a creative spelling of Evelyn.
Emilia, I love with 4 syllables, not eh-meel-ya … plus it might be confused for Amelia a lot, even though in Spanish they sound different enough.
Then there’s names like Opal, Everest, Marigold, Lavender etc. which would be difficult for some of our Latino family to pronounce

Louis - I adore the lou-ee pronunciation but abhor the lew-iss pronunciation!
Violet - This is my little sister’s name, and I don’t like it when people pronounce it as two syllables, as in vye-lit. There’s an o in there on purpose! In my house, we say vye-uh-let!

For girls, Anais, Brigid, Minna, or Niamh (I don’t care for Neve). Or for a middle name, Seurat.
For boys, Alasdair, Noel, or for a middle, Faolan.

[name_m]Ayrton[/name_m] - I pronounce this as Aye-ur-ton, but it seems that most people pronounce it as Air-ton
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]. Initially, I pronounced it as Imo-jin. Now, I know it’s Imo-gene or Imo-jen. I mostly pronounce it Imo-jen in my head…and I don’t really like the Imo-gene pronounciation.
Oh wow, Ing-reed is a beautiful pronounciation and perhaps my new favorite for that name

I love how one of my top 2 for girls, [name_u]Hero[/name_u], sounds in English…but I don’t like at all how it sounds in my first language.
And there is [name_f]Persea[/name_f] - so many alternatives!

[name_m]Tadhg[/name_m], Fainse, [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f], Hareton (I find it pretty straight forward but i heard some people pn it Ha-ri-ton), [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] (i like the cor-nell-ee-uh not the cor-nee-lee-uh pn)
Coraline…I have always read it as Cora-leen which I love…but it seems most people pronounce it Cora-lyne 
Also so many [name_u]French[/name_u] names - [name_f]Zelie[/name_f], [name_f]Solange[/name_f], [name_f]Lisette[/name_f], Clothilde… - just don’t work for most native [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers!
[name_f]Viola[/name_f].
I only like it pronounced “VYE-uh-luh”, where the middle syllable is almost unheard. Like if it almost rhymed with [name_f]Lyla[/name_f]. The way it’s pronounced in “Shakespeare In Love”.
But with the rising stardom of [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_u]Davis[/name_u], the only pronunciation we’d ever hear in the U.S. is “Vye-OH-luh”… which I can’t stand.
Plus, there’s the instrument “vee-OH-luh”.
[name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] is my favorite!
On a similar note, I have a list of names I’ve collected that are sooooo much prettier in [name_u]French[/name_u]: [name_u]Jade[/name_u], [name_f]Romane[/name_f], [name_f]Roxane[/name_f], [name_m]Kylian[/name_m], Vivre (not a name but I love it as a word name), [name_u]Eden[/name_u]
Most of my Polish favorites: [name_m]Tadeusz[/name_m], [name_m]Gerwazy[/name_m], Artemiusz, [name_f]Elżbieta[/name_f], Beatrycze.
Apart from those: [name_f]Antigone[/name_f], [name_f]Eurydice[/name_f], [name_f]Forsythia[/name_f], Feardorcha.
And names that are problematic outside of [name_f]Iceland[/name_f]: Trausti, Ásgeir, Indriði, Njáll, Mýrkjartan, Ástrós, Særós and many, many more.

Probably anything Irish or Greek…Aoife, [name_f]Niamh[/name_f], [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], [name_m]Oisin[/name_m], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], [name_f]Hesperia[/name_f].
Pronunciation issues don’t really scare me away from names in general, so I would probably still consider using most names.
