A Quartet of Boys! đŸŽŒ

[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_u]Everest[/name_u] [name_m]Loup[/name_m] ZĂ©phyr - [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] is my long time favorite. Sweet, spunky, sounds a little bit vintage, not too popular but not too out there, easy to pronounce in [name_u]French[/name_u] and in [name_f]English[/name_f]. [name_u]Everest[/name_u] obviously reminds me of the mountains. Fresh, adventurous and outdoorsy. Very uncommon but close to [name_u]Everett[/name_u], it doesn’t sound too crazy. I love the image of the snow and the smell of fir. [name_m]Loup[/name_m] is a french name and a french word for [name_u]Wolf[/name_u]. It honors both of my grand fathers and my father. [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] is a name my husband and I love. [name_m]God[/name_m] of wind, mythological, it feels very mysterious and [name_m]Zeph[/name_m] is such a cool nickname.

[name_m]Zadig[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_m]Nils[/name_m] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] - [name_m]Zadig[/name_m] is a literary name. He is a philosopher in ancient Babylonia, in the [name_u]French[/name_u] novella “Zadig ou la DestinĂ©e”, written by [name_u]Voltaire[/name_u]. Unusual, boho, but also really rock and fun in my opinion. It offers many opportunities for nicknames such as Zad, [name_m]Zack[/name_m], Z, [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] (I love the letter Z). [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] is a cottagecore name that my husband loves. I think it’s very elegant and classic. [name_m]Nils[/name_m] is another long time favorite, short, airy and international. We have always loved [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]. Another nature and literary name. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the mysterious and adventurous vibes.

[name_u]August[/name_u] something something something  No idea but first name would be [name_u]August[/name_u] for sure.
I love the names [name_m]Aleph[/name_m], [name_m]Pio[/name_m], [name_f]CĂ©zanne[/name_f], [name_m]Basile[/name_m], [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u], [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], [name_u]Milo[/name_u], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Gustave[/name_m], [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_m]Vadim[/name_m], [name_u]Zola[/name_u], Numa, but I feel like they don’t fit with [name_u]August[/name_u].

I already have three boys:
[name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Mark[/name_m] (mn is my husband’s name)
[name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] (Lee after my dad)
[name_m]Maccabee[/name_m] [name_m]Joel[/name_m] (in honor of our God)
and if we had another son he’d be :
[name_m]Zebulon[/name_m] [name_u]Reed[/name_u] (Reed is a family maiden name)

If I were to name four boys all today:

Hanukkah Theme!

[name_m]Maccabee[/name_m] - hero of Hanukkah
Zevivon - dreidel
[name_u]Judah[/name_u] - as in [name_u]Judah[/name_u] [name_m]Maccabee[/name_m]
[name_m]Elazar[/name_m] - [name_m]God[/name_m] protects/helps

[name_m]Mac[/name_m], [name_m]Zev[/name_m], [name_u]Jude[/name_u], and Elz

I struggle with boys names, not because I don’t love any (there are so many fabulous ones!) but because my beloved classics are so popular. That being said, and baring in mind my taste is very changeable, here goes -
[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Arbor[/name_u] [name_u]Henry[/name_u] :herb:
Popularity aside, there’s very little to be said against [name_u]James[/name_u] - a solid literary classic, as familiar and cosy as a favourite jumper. I like it best in its whole form, but [name_u]Jem[/name_u] and [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] are precious nns, and even [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] has a certain clunky charm. [name_u]Arbor[/name_u] is a new love for me, so let’s see if it lasts, but right now I’m obsessed - I’d even consider it as a first. [name_u]Henry[/name_u] I adore; if it weren’t in the top ten of my country it would be perfect. This is a combo I’m really proud of and I like the idea of using ‘James Arbor’ to address a child as well as just [name_u]James[/name_u].
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m] [name_u]William[/name_u] [name_u]Bear[/name_u] :bear:
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m] is my ultimate favourite boys’ name; the only reason I would hesitate to use it is that the irl feedback I’ve got has been awful. [name_u]William[/name_u] is another unimpeachable classic and [name_u]Bear[/name_u] is my fave guilty pleasure; again I love the way this combo flows together.
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]Kit[/name_u] ‘Xander’ :ocean:
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is another classic I love despite the popularity; my only problem is I’m not hugely keen on [name_u]Alex[/name_u] - it’s ok, but I much prefer [name_m]Xander[/name_m], and I’m not sure how easy that would be to enforce. Anyway, [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] has huge sentimental significance to me and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] is just adorable. Not quite proud of the flow of this combo, but it squeezes in a lot of favourites!
[name_m]Harold[/name_m] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Saul[/name_m] ‘Hal’ :evergreen_tree:
Whilst I do love [name_m]Harold[/name_m] in its own right - gorgeously clunky classic - I mostly love it for nn [name_m]Hal[/name_m] - [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] Sewell’s character in The Diplomat sealed the deal on this name for me! [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is a contender with [name_u]Bear[/name_u] for the title of ‘favourite guilty pleasure’ - I wasn’t a massive [name_f]Narnia[/name_f] fan generally but for some reason I adored [name_u]Prince[/name_u] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]. [name_m]Saul[/name_m] I nearly chose as a first; darling biblical classic (although the two biblical Sauls actually weren’t great, haha). This was my most difficult name to pick; other contenders were [name_u]David[/name_u], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m] and [name_u]Milo[/name_u]. I might have to come back and do this again!

Thought I did this but turns out I didn’t

[name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] :sunny:

[name_u]August[/name_u] is my favorite name for many reasons. One, it reminds me of a close friend who loves the song august by [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] [name_m]Swift[/name_m], and two, it just has a gorgeous summer-y, relaxed, fun vibe that I really like. Also, one of my favorite book characters is [name_m]Auggie[/name_m] Pullman from [name_u]Wonder[/name_u], which is probably another reason why I love it! [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] is an honor name for my mom, [name_f]Krista[/name_f], who is one of my favorite people in the entire world. She’s funny, kind, strong, and just amazing.

[name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_u]Curtis[/name_u] :evergreen_tree:

Ahh, [name_u]Robin[/name_u], where do I start?! I love both the [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood connection (steal from the rich and give to the poor!) and the [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] connection (imagination, friendship, and love). When I picture a little [name_u]Robin[/name_u], he’s a little boy with a mop of tangled hair, his hands covered in dirt as he plays in the garden, singing his favorite song while picking flowers to take home to his mom. Such a gorgeous vibe for such a gorgeous name. [name_u]Curtis[/name_u] is a family name, and while it took a while for me to warm up to it, I now love its prickly, old-man (in the best way possible!) vibe.

[name_u]Henry[/name_u] [name_u]Larkspur[/name_u] :old_key:

[name_u]Henry[/name_u] is just a name I love. He’s got such a fun, cheeky, outdoorsy vibe that I love, and I know Henry’s quite common, but I don’t know that many, so he doesn’t feel too overused to me. [name_u]Larkspur[/name_u] is such a fun nature name, imo. Yes, I know it’s a poisonous plant, but I think that makes it all the more cool (lol). [name_u]Larkspur[/name_u] I feel like compliments [name_u]Henry[/name_u] well, and makes it feel more exciting. Also, [name_u]Larkspur[/name_u] is an honor for my dad, because it’s the birth flower for [name_u]July[/name_u], the month that he was born in.

[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] [name_u]Bennett[/name_u] :blueberries:

The story of [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] in the Bible is one of my favorites. He made a good amount of mistakes, but I’ve always been able to relate to how he came through and did the right thing (well, except for at the very end of his story) for his faith, even after straying off the path for a bit. [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] (the name, not the person) also has a fun, springy vibe that I think matches well with his brothers. [name_u]Bennett[/name_u] is a family name as well, an honor for my brother, and also has a literary-but-not-too-old-fashioned feel (though I do love old fashioned names, obviously!) that I love.

[name_u]August[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u], [name_u]Henry[/name_u], and [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] :sunflower:

[name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Aaron[/name_m]- I just love [name_u]James[/name_u] for nn [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] and my lifelong fav [name_u]James[/name_u] Herriot. [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] is my dad’s name

[name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Amias[/name_m]- [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] for my great-grandfather, [name_m]Amias[/name_m] because I love it

[name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Eamon[/name_m]- [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] for my husband’s grandfather, [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] just because I think it’s so handsome

[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Charles[/name_u] [name_u]Dean[/name_u] - [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] I’ve just latched onto and love. I tend to have 2 different styles: “cottagey/little farm boy” for boys and “magical adventurer” for girls. I feel like [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] marries the two nicely. [name_u]Charles[/name_u] is my dad’s name, his dad’s name, and his dad’s name. It’s also a favorite uncle and cousin’s name on my mom’s side. Can’t imagine not using it. [name_u]Dean[/name_u] is a smoosh of Hubby’s grandparents’ middle names (D and Jean). Plus my 13yo son wants the next baby to be [name_u]Dean[/name_u] so bad!

[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_u]Lawson[/name_u] [name_u]Cade[/name_u] - Hubby rarely gets even a twinkle of excitement about names, but he really likes [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] because he’s a big Back to the [name_u]Future[/name_u] fan. lol It also honors my great grandma, [name_f]Emma[/name_f], and I think it’s both farm boy and magical adventurer. [name_u]Lawson[/name_u] was Hubby’s grandma’s maiden name and is very linked to Cade’s [name_u]Cove[/name_u] in the Smokies. Hubby’s family came from [name_u]East[/name_u] TN and we’re living about 10 hours away from there now, so I feel compelled to give him a little piece of home.

[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] [name_m]Brian[/name_m] [name_u]Clyde[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] the Scottish connection for [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]. [name_m]Brian[/name_m] is Hubby’s name. I’d have to surprise him with this one because he’d never agree to use his name. His middle name is the letter C, but his grandpa, [name_u]Clyde[/name_u], always said it stood for [name_u]Clyde[/name_u]. [name_u]Clyde[/name_u] is also my father in-law’s middle name.

[name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_m]Luther[/name_m] - The trees are my happy place. [name_m]Silas[/name_m] evokes that imagery for me. [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] was my mentor’s surname. He passed several years ago. [name_m]Luther[/name_m] was my great grand uncle’s middle name. I was related to him through marriage, but he was super influential to me when I was little and more like a grandfather.

It’s so fun to look back at old favorites! Sasha & Emrys would definitely still be on the list, and I think Basil would join them (probably my Basil Endymion Finch)
I’m not sure what the fourth name would be! Maybe Beck, Jasper, or Seren?

Here to re-do my quartet!

:sunflower: [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] :sunflower:
I love the kind and gentle sound of [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. I want my future son’s character to be influenced by [name_m]Simon[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m], one of the twelve disciples of [name_m]Jesus[/name_m]. I also love the association of [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_u]Pevensie[/name_u] from the [name_f]Narnia[/name_f] books. Various forms of the name [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] have been passed down through my dad’s side of the family, and I also just love the way it sounds.

:fallen_leaf: [name_u]Timothy[/name_u] [name_u]Jack[/name_u] :fallen_leaf:
[name_u]Timothy[/name_u] is just the perfect balance of soft and strong, and is a truly timeless choice in my opinion. The Biblical connection is of course an added bonus for me. I also feel like [name_u]Timothy[/name_u] can easily suit any sort of boy. [name_u]Jack[/name_u] is for my childhood best friend.

:herb: [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_m]Todd[/name_m] :herb:
[name_m]Christopher[/name_m] is a recent addition to my list, but a very welcome one nonetheless! I love that its length gives it strength, but the vibes are still so soft and friendly. I also love the nickname [name_u]Kit[/name_u], especially since [name_f]Cinderella[/name_f] (2015) is a go-to comfort film for my mom and I. I love [name_m]Todd[/name_m]. It sounds so warm and cozy to me, like sweaters and hot cocoa and all things wonderful.

:ear_of_rice: [name_u]Rudy[/name_u] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] :ear_of_rice:
I first heard the name [name_u]Rudy[/name_u] from The Book Thief , and his character is just so sweet and kind. [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] sounds so familiar and comforting. Some people see “Doubting Thomas” as a negative, but as someone who has fought battles with doubt for her [name_u]Christian[/name_u] faith, I find it inspiring how [name_m]Christ[/name_m] called even the doubters to Him.

[name_f]My[/name_f] style has changed so much since I last did this!! It’s definitely time to update my boyish quartet :kite:

[name_u]Holden[/name_u] [name_m]Linus[/name_m] :chipmunk:
I love the literary connection of [name_u]Holden[/name_u], and the imagery I get from him is just perfect; he’s so cuddly and friendly. In Greek mythology, [name_m]Linus[/name_m] was the creator of [name_f]Melody[/name_f] and [name_u]Rhythm[/name_u]!

[name_u]Wilder[/name_u] [name_u]Poet[/name_u] :evergreen_tree:
[name_u]Wilder[/name_u] is a long-time love. I love the meaning and the grounded vibes- the mix between rugged and soft is a perfect match for how i want to raise my kiddos. [name_u]Poet[/name_u] is meaningful through a song I love.

[name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Quigley[/name_m] :nest_with_eggs:
[name_m]Robins[/name_m] have a lot of interesting mythologies and stories attached to them, as well as a strong connection to my dad, who loves birds. [name_m]Quigley[/name_m] is inspired by a book series that I adored as a child.

[name_u]Curtis[/name_u] [name_u]Beckett[/name_u] :honeybee:
I got [name_u]Curtis[/name_u] from a book trilogy I first read in middle school called Wildwood. I still love it to this day and I can’t wait to share it with my children! The character of [name_u]Curtis[/name_u] in the book is a really lovely association! I’ve always loved the meaning of [name_u]Beckett[/name_u]. I think the imagery of a bee cottage is just so cute!!

[name_u]Holden[/name_u], [name_u]Wilder[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] & [name_u]Curtis[/name_u]

only my dear wilder still stands from my first list! crazy how much things have changed :two_hearts:

[name_m]Caspar[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] - I fell for [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] because he was one of my best friend’s favorite names at one point
she was a [name_u]French[/name_u] Jew I met on another baby name site, and she passed away in 2010 from complications to heart surgery. I like that [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] feels like a really special way to honor her memory, but I also love that it has special ties to my family, too! [name_f]My[/name_f] sister and I both have [name_u]French[/name_u] [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] names in our full names and I think [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] qualifies. [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] is as close to honoring my sister on a boy that I can get, and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] has special ties to a [name_u]Phil[/name_u] [name_m]Wickham[/name_m] song and for me just reminds me of how in heaven, we will reign with [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] and be princes and princesses. I think the nns [name_m]Cas[/name_m] and [name_m]Cap[/name_m] are pretty cute too.

[name_u]Aquila[/name_u] [name_u]Leo[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] - I have a huge affinity for rare Bible names so I’m sure that’s where [name_u]Aquila[/name_u] comes from. I do find him to be a fascinating character and love his meaning (eagle) - we are big [name_u]Philadelphia[/name_u] Eagles fans so it’s a fun tie to that. [name_u]Leo[/name_u] I just love and also love the reminder of [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] as the [name_m]Lion[/name_m] of [name_u]Judah[/name_u]. [name_u]Grey[/name_u] is in honor of my grandma (her middle name is Grace).

[name_m]Boaz[/name_m] [name_m]Andreas[/name_m] [name_u]Henry[/name_u] - [name_m]Boaz[/name_m] is for my other grandmother, [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] - such a fun way to honor her without going to something like [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] or [name_m]Rutherford[/name_m] or something. No special ties to [name_m]Andreas[/name_m] but I’ve loved it for years. I love that [name_m]Boaz[/name_m] is popular in the Netherlands (or was when I fell for him), and I like how [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] [name_m]Boaz[/name_m] [name_m]Andreas[/name_m] feels to me. I don’t love [name_u]Henry[/name_u] as a first name but he’s one of my favorite middle names ever. I also love [name_u]Bo[/name_u] as a nn.

[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] - I don’t know where I fell in love with [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] but I do love how bookish and earthy and cuddly he feels on a little boy . I’d probably call him [name_u]Rory[/name_u] even though I don’t need to—he’s so sweet. [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] is for [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] but it’s also a family name and sort of just represents wholeness and peace
my therapist’s name is [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] :joy:. I don’t think I’d consciously honor him if I had a kid but I was in love with [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] long before my therapist came along. [name_u]James[/name_u] is my great grandpa’s name.

[name_m]Caspar[/name_m], [name_u]Aquila[/name_u], [name_m]Boaz[/name_m], and Rowan//Cap, [name_u]Aquila[/name_u], [name_u]Bo[/name_u], and [name_u]Rory[/name_u]

I’m pretty traditional when it comes to boys names. I love short )1-3 syllables), easy to say and spell boys names. I love strong, but also softer, sounding boys names.

Today I would realistically use:
[name_u]Wesley[/name_u] [name_u]Jay[/name_u]
[name_u]Evan[/name_u] [name_u]Parker[/name_u]
[name_u]Dawson[/name_u] [name_m]Cole[/name_m]
[name_u]Griffin[/name_u] [name_u]Miles[/name_u]

Apparently, I also like names that end in N.
