@CattheBat13579 - Your set feels like a [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_m]Austen[/name_m] novel in the best way. So classic but just slightly off the beaten path, I love it.
@sansan - [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f] is perfection. I love your whole set, very cute but quirky and feminine and adorable.
@benton_s_mama - I love [name_f]Phryne[/name_f]. It has all the sweetness of [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] but so much cool factor and it means toad! Whatās not to love? Iām also a big fan of [name_f]Maple[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] together.
@lucy_halo1 - [name_f]Vivian[/name_f] [name_f]Halo[/name_f] is such a gorgeous combo.
[name_f]Ophelie[/name_f] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] āElfieā - [name_f]Elfie[/name_f] is my absolute favorite nickname and [name_f]Ophelie[/name_f] is my favorite way of getting to that nickname. I think itās elegant, sweet and lilting, and I love the meaning āhelpā. I want my child to be a helper, but also to have a wild side. [name_f]Ophelie[/name_f] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] sounds like a little forest nymph running through the woods and soaking up the sun.
[name_f]Hekate[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f] āKitā - [name_f]Hekate[/name_f] is my wifeās absolute favorite name. I love the rhythm of it (HECK-uh-tee, like Cassidy). She was a moon goddess of witchcraft and storms. Iām a believer in dark and powerful names for girls - I want my daughters to be strange and frightening when they need to be. Her middle name [name_f]Fern[/name_f] is after some of the first plants that ever existed, the plants that made oxygen, that allowed life to exist on land in the first place and itās such an earthy, old-fashioned name. I want my daughter to be a survivor, to create, to be a little witchy. And nickname [name_m]Kit[/name_m] brings a lot of friendly, androgynous warmth to a pretty heavy full name.
[name_f]Sereia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] āSveaā - [name_f]Sereia[/name_f] means āmermaidā in Portuguese and what little one doesnāt want to be a mermaid? Violets became popular as representations of sapphic love in the 1920s from a reference to Sapphoās poetry and a popular play of the time. Lesbians and bi sapphics of the day would send each other bouquets of violets and allies would wear violets on their lapels. [name_f]My[/name_f] wife and I will be two moms and very proud of that, and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is a sweet, subtle way to honor that.
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_f]Loveday[/name_f] āRainā - [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] means ādivine queenā, thereās a classic song, itās witchy, itās Celtic. I love how soft it sounds while also being grounded and ancient. Iām also a sucker for that ārhā beginning. Middle name [name_f]Loveday[/name_f] has such a sweet sound and the history of a day where people come together to resolve differences peacefully is a great legacy Iād like to give my daughter. I also love the idea of calling my child [name_f]Rain[/name_f], with all of the connotations of cleansing and nourishing and cosy evenings with a book in a thunderstorm.
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Wren[/name_f] [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]- i adore all three of these names, [name_f]Olive[/name_f] was the first girls name my fiance and i agrees on, [name_f]Wren[/name_f] because growing up my dad would always point out birds to me and a [name_f]Wren[/name_f] is my favourite, small but loud! [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] is a character from the game [name_m]God[/name_m] of War, which my fiance loves and we would love to use [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] as a first name but we think it might be too difficult for our families to pronounce.
Luena [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]- i totally thought iād made Luena up when i was thinking of a more uniqur variation of [name_f]Luna[/name_f], turns out it has African heritage and means river, a lovely name which is unique but not too out there! Poppies are my favourite flowers and is an overall great name for us and we adore [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is a character from the Walking Dead game and we would love to use this as a first name but iām not sure if itās too uncommon for where we live.
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Rue[/name_f] āNellā- i love [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] more than my fiance and i love the nicknames that accompany [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], i have loved [name_f]Viola[/name_f] for a long time and love how lyrical and strong it sounds and [name_f]Rue[/name_f] is one of my favourites from the Hunger Games franchise.
[name_f]Romy[/name_f] [name_f]Lovisa[/name_f] [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f]- i love [name_f]Romy[/name_f], itās endearing and short and sweet, [name_f]Lovisa[/name_f] is a nod to my fianceās Scandinavian heritage and i love [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f], we love the name [name_f]Lili[/name_f] and wanted to find longer names for [name_f]Lili[/name_f] to be a nickname to, i loved watching The [name_m]Crown[/name_m] and fell in love after hearing it there.
These are gorgeous! Olive Wren Calliope is my absolute favourite, but Luena is also stunning (I had never heard it before) and I love a Hunter Games reference. Truly amazing set.
A mix of names I love and some family names strewn about in there as well,
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Verna[/name_f]
[name_f]Juniper[/name_f] (June) [name_f]Alicia[/name_f]
[name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f]
Lillie Evangeline
The name Lillie is so gentle, particularly in this spelling: the double ālā and āieā ending just adds to itās charm and pronunciation. I like the association with the flower, all nestled on a little pond. We have a pond like this by our caravan in Wales, so it just makes me drawn to Lillie all the more. The name reminds me of these happy memories. Evangeline is just a gorgeous, grand sounding name, with faith associations. Smooshing Lillie and Evangeline together just makes such a unique and special quartet, matching her sister Ava Louise.
Vivien Lucy šŖ» Vivien is such a nice name, but I alternate between spellings: Vivienne or Vivian? I love both, so Vivien just felt right today. Lucy has such an old fashioned, whimsy feeling to me and the Beatles song only makes me love it all the more, so Vivien Lucy is the third quartet today!
Jane Elisabeth
In some ways, Jane has always felt like a forever name to me: not plain at all! Jane is such a lovely, timeless option, associated with Austen and many other historical figures and stories online Iāve read. It has a special place with me, namely as a first name position. It feels powerful! Elisabeth, spelt with an āsā rather than a āzā, is my ultimate favourite middle name option. I will always love it too, itās so gentle and unique.
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] āZaliā [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] is the newest love of mine for the last few years but I adore her and [name_f]Anne[/name_f] is an honour name plus I love that sheād share initials with my sister.
[name_f]Kelsey[/name_f] āKelsā [name_m]Lee[/name_m]
[name_f]Kelsey[/name_f] is my longest love for as long as I can remember and [name_m]Lee[/name_m] is an honour - I also love the idea of sharing initials with one of my little girls.
[name_f]Maya[/name_f] āMJā [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Maya[/name_f] is a name I always thought was pretty but one I didnāt think Iād use because I love nicknames but MJ would be the sweetest) and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is one of two family middle names that are always passed down for a set of sisters (one sister gets [name_f]Jane[/name_f], one sister gets my middle name but Iām not very fond of mine).
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] āBellaā [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Bella[/name_f], my first ever love and one I still like and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is an honour.
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] ā[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]ā: [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] has always been a big personal favorite of mine, but I hate nickname names that arenāt nicknames, and I like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] just as much. It also just seems like such a sweet name for a baby girl.
Lucianne [name_f]Grace[/name_f] ā[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]ā: I was deciding between Lucianne and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] as the full length name for [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], but ultimately decided on Lucianne, given [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] rhyming with [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] was always a favorite and I adore the two of them together, even more so after the 4th hunger games book came out, and I can use a [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_m]Gray[/name_m] reference.
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] ā[name_f]Nora[/name_f]ā: For a while I didnāt know [name_f]Nora[/name_f] was an option for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], but after encountering it once, I instantly fell in love. [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] was always a favorite of mine, but I just think it fits more as a middle name.
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] ā[name_f]Hallie[/name_f]ā: The parent trap inspired this name for sure, watching that movie was the first time I ever heard the name. It was actually between [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] for my last choice on here. Otherwise I just love the name [name_f]Helena[/name_f], and would be happy if my child chose to go by that and not [name_f]Hallie[/name_f].
Bernadette Flavia
Bernadette is one of my most favourite names. I know that many people find it outdated and fussy but I think itās so feminine and bold. The meaning of ābrave as a bearā would remind my daughter to be courageous and take risks. Also, I like the connection to Christianity through the saint. Flavia is such a gorgeous name to me as well, I think itās very underrated.
Dorothea Claire
I really like the meaning of Dorothea āgift of godā since my little angel would be my own gift from God and the meaning of Claire ābrightness, clarityā are things I would wish for for my daughters life. I also love all the potential nicknames Dorothea provides. And I love Claire as a subtle nod to Clara from the Nutcracker ballet which I watch with my family every year for Christmas.
Rosamund Daphne
Rosamund is a unique name with lovely familiar nickname Rosie. Rosamund means āhorse and protectionā I love horses and would hope that my little girl would be protected and safe from all evil. Daphne is a name I absolutely adore the sound of. I see it a lot online but never in real life. I love how it has an interesting history in greek mythology as well.
Guinevere Maude
I think that Guinevere has such a beautiful and strong sound whilst still being feminine and pretty. I find it to be a very romantic name. I think Maude compliments this very well and I just love its vintage charm.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] remembered this thread - this is my updated version!
[name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_f]Hero[/name_f] - [name_m]Forever[/name_m] my favourite name. I think itās fresh yet [name_f]Verity[/name_f] is immensely classy for me. Maybe the double virtue name is too much, but I donāt care. I usually donāt have an eye for flow but I think the flow in this one is really good. I like the reference to Greek Mythology Itās hard to explain why exactly I adore this, but I do.
[name_f]Fawn[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] - A very new edition to my top names, but a loved one nonetheless. I love the connection to nature with [name_f]Fawn[/name_f], and the alliteration really scratches an itch in my brain I guess. Felicityās meaning of happiness also attracts me. I often need to be reminded happier days will always come and I hope this reminder within my daughterās name reminds her to keep her chin up!
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_m]Solstice[/name_m] - [name_f]Eva[/name_f] I think is the perfect mix between soft & dainty and spunky & powerful. It packs so much personality in three letters - I just love it! [name_m]Solstice[/name_m] to me just provokes the most gorgeous imagery and adds a certain⦠weight to [name_f]Eva[/name_f] that I admire. Overall, I just love this name.
[name_m]Robin[/name_m] [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] - Came up with this combo for this post. I love [name_m]Robin[/name_m], again for itās connection to nature but also itās strong beauty and femininity (I know Iām largely alone for preferring it on a girl on this site!). [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] is very different from my regular style, but something about it is so beautiful to me I canāt describe it. I love it with [name_m]Robin[/name_m].
~ The name [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is one of the names that i remember loving the earliest and itās still a favourite of mine! it also reminds me of some special memories.
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is one of my all-time favorites as well and reminds me of many lovely things; the Northern Lights, Sleeping [name_f]Beauty[/name_f] (the film and the ballet) and it honors one of my best friends.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Melodia[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] has been on my list for quite a while now, and I love the name so much. It reminds me of white, light yellow and baking for some reason.
[name_f]Melodia[/name_f] is a fairly recent favorite that honors my passion for music.
[name_f]Diana[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Diana[/name_f] just is such a beautiful name, I first started to like it because it links to special memories but it gradually became one of my favorite names for many other reasons too.
I picked [name_f]Odette[/name_f] because I love the delicate balletic vibe of it!
(It kind of frustrates me that this combo doesnāt end in A like the others but I still love the combo though)
[name_f]Belle[/name_f] [name_f]Violeta[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Belle[/name_f] is just such a sweet and beautiful name, but with a subtle strength to it. It also reminds me of the [name_f]Disney[/name_f] princess. [name_f]Violeta[/name_f] is the name of a song Iāve loved for a long time.
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Mariae[/name_f] [name_f]Therese[/name_f] āEvieā- After St. [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], Our [name_m]Blessed[/name_m] Mother, and St. [name_f]Therese[/name_f]. I also love how both [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Therese[/name_f] are [name_f]French[/name_f] and I love the nickname [name_f]Evie[/name_f]!
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Regina[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]: [name_f]My[/name_f] godsister is named [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], I love [name_f]Regina[/name_f] (meaning queen) in honor of the Coronation of [name_f]Mary[/name_f], and I love that [name_f]Colette[/name_f] is another [name_f]French[/name_f] name) [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is for St. [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]!
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maria[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]: [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is in honor of St. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] of Hungary (my momās patron saint), [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_m]Bennet[/name_m], and [name_f]Beth[/name_f] [name_m]March[/name_m]. [name_f]Maria[/name_f] is in honor of my patron saint, St. [name_f]Maria[/name_f] Goretti! [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is for Our [name_f]Lady[/name_f] of [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]: [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] is for St. [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_m]Barat[/name_m] (another [name_f]French[/name_f] saint) and [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is for Our [name_f]Lady[/name_f]!
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] āEvieā
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] āLilyā (for St. [name_f]Maria[/name_f] Gorettiās symbolism)
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] āMaddieā
*It seems like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] has the most meaning and symbolism in her name, but I really love all these names equally for different reasons.
