Baby Berries due January-March 2022

How incredible! That first scan is just magic isn’t it!
Seems you have a great support network in your parents too, that’s lovely.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you find the prenatals make you feel sick? I’ve switched to a different brand this time round and try to have them with dinner instead of at breakfast. The ones I bought have ginger in too so hopefully that will help me in the coming weeks.

I had really bad nausea in my first pregnancy from around Week 7-18, but no actual sickness.
I’m roughly 6 weeks now, so no nausea yet for me but really not fancying food most days and pretty fatigued already (most likely from my toddler that hates sleep).
I’m still waiting to hear from my midwife, it’s all gone digital now since the pandemic so quite a different experience. Assuming my first scan will be around the first week of [name_u]August[/name_u]. Already counting down!

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any feelings about what the sex might be? And will you find out?
I really knew in my heart it was a boy the first time, and we left it a surprise and I was right!. This time round I am leaning girl but don’t have the strong feelings I did previously so who knows!

So glad you had your scan! I’m at 10 weeks now, so only a short while to go until I have my own one. I can’t wait. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband gets to come as well, which is so exciting for both of us, as this will be our first child.

I have so much nausea. It’s honestly almost debilitating. While at the same time also being hungry? But then I generally get sick right after eating something, which has led to me rejecting most food at the moment.

I’m also interested in the question about sex. I don’t know when you can expect to find out. We’re both hoping for a girl, but feel like that means we’ll definitely get a boy. I won’t do the surprise thing, as I’m not great with surprises anyway. I like planning and knowing

In regards to sex, you can find out between 18-20 weeks through ultrasound depending on when your provider does it.

We opted to do noninvasive genetic screening so I will find out around 11 weeks

Ahh the nausea and sickness is so hard. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] you are able to rest up in the day a bit, and it will ease soon.

You can usually find out at your 20 week scan in the UK, but I think you can find out privately earlier to that if you really want to via a blood test maybe.

I totally get that, and as a usual super organised person I thought I’d want to know, but actually having a surprise was honestly the best for us. It made the whole moment really magical. Plus we buy mostly unisex clothing anyway so it didn’t make much of a difference either way.
I’m always excited to find out what other people are having though!

I don’t think so, but maybe. I was taking Nature’s Bounty but when I mentioned my morning nausea, my donor bought me a 2 or 3 month subscription for Ritual. I really haven’t noticed a difference tho.

Gah, mine started at 5w 2d :sob:

I’ve wanted a girl my whole life, but I also wanted to find out at birth because I didn’t want all my baby’s items to be gendered.

However, I have a gut feeling I’m having a boy. While in my TWW, a family friend announced she’s having a girl. Something in me said, “You’re pregnant and it’s a boy.” Well, the pregnant part was accurate  There’s so many girls in my life, I just knew, statistically, someone had to have a boy. My parents only have granddaughters, no grandsons (my feminist side would LOVE to spite my misogynist brother who has 3 girls, just to watch me, a single mother, raise a feminist, emotionally-intelligent, and compassionate boy).

Now, I would like to find out the gender to help with the naming process and whatnot. I feel more comfortable in my relationships with people who are going to give gifts, so I know I can express my wish for more unisex items than gendered items and they’ll respect that. Heck, if I’m having a boy and someone gifts me girl stuff, I won’t mind one bit.

I have an appt with a geneticist at the end of July. I’ll see how accurate the blood test is to find out the sex. If it’s very accurate, I’ll agree to find out then… I don’t want to do a social media announcement until I know the sex, so the sooner, the better  This is such a hard secret to keep!

Was that a NIPT?

Yeah! I’m getting the Natera Panorama test done
In addition to the genetic screening they also report gender which is super accurate. Getting my blood draw on [name_u]July[/name_u] 8!

Does your doctor do this or is it a separate company?

[name_f]My[/name_f] doctor ordered the kit for me but they come to your house to do the blood draw and it’s a separate company that bills your insurance. Natera will report results to my doctor and they will relay results to me

There’s a few different companies that offer NIPT so ask your provider which one they partner with

You can also call the Natera people and ask them what the process is if your doctor doesn’t partner with them

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone! [name_f]Glad[/name_f] to hear we’re doing well and exciting to be having scans!
I had my first ultrasound today to confirm there really is a baby in there :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: [name_u]Baby[/name_u] was very camera shy so it took a lot of work to get the measurements and pictures but it was amazing to see him or her wriggling around, kicking and waving arms at us. Think I’d forgotten what it’s like, really overwhelming and emotional. And then I called my mum afterwards to tell her, she is so excited
[name_f]My[/name_f] due date has been moved a bit earlier as baby was measuring big (already ) but I’m still scraping into this group at the very beginning of January!!
Sending best wishes to everyone, especially managing nausea and sickness. I’m really hoping mine will start to ease off now as I get into trimester 2 :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:xxx

So glad you had a good appointment @greenleaves

Has anyone done a babymoon with previous pregnancies or thinking about one this time around?

I wasn’t sure where else to post, but we had our 12 week scan yesterday. A little early by accident (apparently I’m 10 weeks along!) and got a bit of a nasty shock. The NT scan came back as higher than they would have liked. I didn’t even know any of this stuff, as I’ve gone into pregnancy quite naively. We’re devastated, of course. Yesterday was a shock.

It went from the sonographer saying that I’m too early, but that the heart beat is fine, hands and feet, everything where it should be. Then she looked around more, left the room to call in someone more senior. I had another ultrasound done, but wasn’t told anything more helpful. Then we were told to wait in an adjoining quiet room. They then sent in a smart lady with a clipboard who quite coldly and impassionately explained how very not good this is and that we’ll be transferred to a specialist for more tests.

I couldn’t really sleep last night, as I was sick with worries and spent a lot of time googling and reading up on everything. I worry that this is the end of the road for my pregnancy, and my heart hurts for the little fetus I saw on the ultrasound.

I’m so sorry to hear this. The last thing you want to hear while seeing your baby. I thought they couldn’t even do the NT check before 11 weeks (in my previous pregnancy I wasn’t as far along as I thought and had to come back for a second scan) so I hope that means there’s more chance there was an error and that further testing will show you something more positive. [name_f]My[/name_f] heart is with you xxx

I’m so sorry to hear this. I hope you get some answers soon, and that perhaps the specialist will be able to reassure you and give you more information.

I’m almost 8 weeks now, and despite being off my food the last few weeks, I just don’t ‘feel’ pregnant like I did with my first. The nausea last time was so overwhelming from 6-18 weeks, and I had lots of cramping in my first pregnancy too (which turned out to be my kidneys telling me I was dehydrated!).
The last day or so the fatigue has completely lifted and my appetite has come back.
So I’m feeling quite anxious to be honest, and still haven’t heard from a midwife yet about booking my scan in or any of the other questions they usually ask.
I rang my GP but they weren’t much help either, just basically told me to sit tight til my scan, whenever that may be…

@aielbereth I’ve been thinking about you [name_f]Stella[/name_f] :pray:t2: [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any updates on a repeat ultrasound or blood tests?

@georgiegeorgie I was talking to my aunt about my pregnancy and she mentioned her first pregnancy had lots of symptoms with nausea and vomiting, but her 2nd (which was about 15 years later tho) had no symptoms at all! I know the wait for your scan is so difficult, I hope the time can pass quickly for you!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all! We have been TTC for about 6 months and on [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] we got a BFP!!! We’re actually out of town so I haven’t been able to get to my doctor yet, but I’ve taken like 4 at home tests now :joy: and every one has been a very clear positive!!!

[name_f]My[/name_f] first doctors appt is on [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f], but if I’m going my math correctly, I’m due right around [name_u]March[/name_u] 20th. SQUEEE!!! :heartpulse:

We’re waiting to tell people for another few weeks, but I want to find some fun and creative ways to announce the pregnancy to my parents and my sisters - so if anyone has seen any really clever and fun announcements or has any ideas for me I would love to hear them!

@EmotionalMermaid Congrats and welcome to the thread!!

I have a 12 week appt this week, which I’ve been getting excited for, but I got a letter that my insurance won’t cover it because I’m seeing a geneticist and it’s “not medically necessary.” :expressionless: I’m going to appeal their decision and I’m really not worried about paying for it, if I absolutely have to. I’m still going to my appt unless the clinic cancels it. I’m more annoyed than anything. Oh well, 'merica, am I right?

I used to be pretty active on the ttc boards a few years ago and left due to depression. But now, after 5 years of ttc, I can join a due date board!!! Due [name_u]March[/name_u] 2022 with #1 :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
