The only one I truly dislike is [name]Kathryn[/name]. It just looks…like a downgrade. [name]Catherine[/name] would be my favorite. Can’t beat a classic. But [name]Katharine[/name] does have a bit of glamour for me. Possibly because of [name]Katharine[/name] Hepburn. I would go with one of those two.
[name]Catherine[/name] would have to be my favorite. Something about the ‘C’ beginning makes it look less trendy.
But, I do love [name]Kathryn[/name] as well, because of the [name]Star[/name] Trek [name]Captain[/name] [name]Kathryn[/name] Janeway (from the Voyager series- which happens to my favorite).
I’ve always liked [name]Katharine[/name]… Not really sure why the A instead of the E, but I don’t like the letter C and the y makes it look… sad.
I like most of them! I know a [name]Catharine[/name] as well.
[name]Kathryn[/name] feels sort of 1950s spunky, which I like.
[name]Katherine[/name] is classy and flexible nickname-wise. [name]Katharine[/name] feels even more elegant.
I would probably use [name]Catherine[/name] simply because I’ve felt drawn to it lately. Because it has a K sound, I don’t mind using the C spelling with nicknames like [name]Kay[/name] and [name]Kate[/name]. I know a [name]Katherine[/name] whose nickname is [name]Cassie[/name], too.
To me (being a [name]Caitlin[/name]) the [name]Catherine[/name] spelling always feels most authentic, which I like.
Definitely [name]Catherine[/name]. It’s my middle name, so any other spelling looks wrong to me and I also dislike K names. And, tbh, I think of [name]Kathryn[/name] as a different name almost, it just has such a different feeling to it.
I also don’t see why [name]Kate[/name], [name]Katie[/name] and [name]Kitty[/name] can’t be used as nicknames for [name]Catherine[/name]. They have been for centuries and I don’t think it’s a particularly difficult concept to grasp.
I prefer [name]Katherine[/name] or [name]Catherine[/name]. Although they’re not noticeable in speech, I love the extra syllables. It’s almost as if they add a sort of deliberation? I love it.
I’m part of that minority on here that likes [name]Kathryn[/name]. It tends to get shortened to [name]Kat[/name] in my experience, and it’s spelled PRECISELY how I pronounce it. Two syllables. Soft, long vowels all around.
If I had to name a daughter this name, I’d go with [name]Catherine[/name]. I’m partial to the letter C. However, I like all of the aforementioned spellings.

I don’t care for [name]Katharine[/name] as much as the others… The second a looks out of place to me.
In as much as you can say that one version or another of a very classic name with multiple classical spellings looks more modern than the others…
[name]Catherine[/name] has more of an early mid-century vibe to it, imo, [name]Kathryn[/name] more of a late mid-century, and [name]Katherine[/name] part of the return to classicism. [name]Catherine[/name] (nn [name]Cathy[/name]) was born before 1950. [name]Kathryn[/name] (nn [name]Kathy[/name]) was a contemporary of [name]Debra[/name] and [name]Tammy[/name], born in the 60s/70s. [name]Katherine[/name] (nn [name]Kate[/name]) is the new girl at work who thinks her upcoming 25th birthday is the end of the world.
I’m also getting a bit of a chuckle out of the ‘modern’ spellings discussion. [name]Henry[/name] VIII’s three wives (who are variously handed down as [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Katherine[/name], or [name]Kathryn[/name]) all signed their names with a ‘k’ (…this is a nice mess…, The signatures of the six wives of Henry VIII. ).
My favorite spelling is [name]Catherine[/name]. I don’t have a particular reason, it just looks the nicest to me.
[name]Catherine[/name], by far. Save the second syllable!
I like the [name]Catherine[/name] spelling the best. It looks the most elegant and feminine to me, and even though I know the K spelling is also historically correct, [name]Catherine[/name] just seems more authentic (probably because of all of the trendy K names). I agree that [name]Catherine[/name] nn [name]Kate[/name] would bother me. If I named a daughter that, I would use [name]Catherine[/name] nn [name]Cate[/name].
[name]Catherine[/name] is my fave
[name]Catherine[/name] for me. I have an irrational dislike of “K” names…
My name is [name]Katherine[/name]
Actually [name]Catherine[/name] is not the original spelling, in Greece the name was made [name]Katherine[/name] or [name]Katharine[/name] came from the greek word Katharos meaning pure then later people started changing it to [name]Catherine[/name] with a C. Personally, I like the name spelled [name]Katharine[/name] best and there’s additional nicknames like Kite, [name]Kit[/name] and [name]Kitty[/name] that you don’t get with [name]Catherine[/name] and it looks a lot spunkier. [name]Just[/name] warning you any form of [name]Catherine[/name] is VERY popular and your daughters name will be misspelled because there are so many spellings. I think the popularity has died down since I was born but in my class of 200 kids there were 5 other Katherines! And there were also plenty of Kates, Katies and Kaitlyns.

[name]Katharine[/name] is by far 100% my favorite! I think the K and the a just look so wonderfully distinguished and pretty together! [name]Katherine[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name] are tied for me. I might like [name]Catherine[/name] a bit better, but it is my middle name, so I can’t say I’m unbiased lol. [name]Kathryn[/name] is the only one I don’t care for that much. I’m not big on “yn” endings (if the name has other spellings).
[name]Catherine[/name] is my personal preference.
Haha, I’m with you on the “K” names!
[name]Catherine[/name] is by far my favorite spelling ![]()
[name]Catherine[/name]. It’s beautiful and basically looks the best.
