Glitches

Whenever I try to search for a topic/post/keyword it just stalls out for 10 minutes & then says no results found. @katinka

@mea.ola This happens to me fairly regularly too. I tend to just repeatedly refresh it/try again and sometimes it’ll work, though it is quite sporadic.

If I want to access a specific thread that I’ve visited before I tend to navigate those from my browser history when the search is being funny, as that is usually much quicker. If you’re just doing a general key word search then you can try typing “site:forum.nameberry.com” followed by a space and your search terms into Google, though depending on what you’re searching for this can be a bit of a needle in a haystack approach, particularly as it doesn’t list by date.

I’m seeing sporadic glitches too and I have asked for the latest update to be pushed.

I don’t have glitches for the forum itself, but I’ve had problems when I try to add names to my user lists and an error occurs, and it ends up deleting like half of the names :sob:

@katinka Thank you, as always

Oh no! Any details on device and browser? How many times has this happened?

It’s happened on two different lists these past weeks. I’m on the computer and using Chrome. I think the problem may be because I’m mistakenly adding duplicate names? I’m not sure though

How many names on the lists? And how many do you think have disappeared? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you remember any that have gone?

I actually backed up my list beforehand so I can tell you the exact amount of names on one of the lists:

I had 991 names and after the error it has 503. I noticed now it only removed all the female names and kept the male ones on both of my lists.

That does sound like a glitch if it just removed all female names. I’ll see if I can reproduce this and let our tech team know. I’m glad you have a back up!

Not sure if this is the right place for this but the search function is pretty much unusable for me. Takes forever then just suggests using Google instead. Interestingly if I start making a new post I’m able to find posts with similar titles almost instantly.

Is this in the forums or on the main site?

In the forums, at least for me

When viewing replies to a comment, I can’t jump down to the reply anymore. We can view the reply and the downward arrow that’s supposed to take us to the reply is still there but when you click on the arrow, it doesn’t work. Like the links disappearing when editing a post, this was not originally an issue when we first converted to this new website

I see what you mean. I’m not sure if this is something that’s happened our end or with Discourse itself (the latter seems more likely, since there has been no work done on the forums specifically recently) but I will look into it

Not sure how recent is “recently” but these 2 issues have probably been going on for over a month. I had been absent in the spring and then came back on here about 1-2months ago? and I’ve been having these 2 issues ever since I came back on here or shortly after I came back on nb (feels like the former but could be the latter). So if this has been going on from the start of me resuming nb, then this potentially could have been going on for several months

Hm at least for me, it started happening after there was an effort to make the name links at beginning of lines work. So it has been a long time

You’re talking about the name links disappearing after editing, right? That did start after work done on name linking in the forums, a few months ago now. I’ve alerted the tech team to it and it is on the list to be looked at, but since it doesn’t massively interfere with functionality, it’s a little way down the priority list.

The issue with clicking on a reply no longer jumping down to the reply in question I think is more recent? And I would assume it’s a small glitch within the latest version of Discourse, rather than something Nameberry has control over.

Yes I was talking about the linking thing. The latter also has been happening for long though
