  16. Oscar " Oz " Davis McCartney
  17. Hope Frederica Maloney

The next student admires the friendship between Dora and Danica - especiallly their inside jokes that they’ve developed over the years having grown up together. Initially, he even confused them for twins due to them having names with the same beginning and ending initial. He wants to make his way into their circle , but is not sure if that’s possible, given that he’s a guy who might be interrupting their “girl zone”. Admittedly, he finds Danica to be the more interesting one of the two - especially given the fact that she lives on a farm and seems pretty happy with her strawberry blonde hair. He grew up in an upper-middle class neighbourhood of the big city nearby, where kids would make fun of him for having ginger hair and being overweight. As his asthma got worse due to the hustle and bustle of the big city, his mother decided to move him to East March and sell her apartament in the big city to move into a condo. This guy bonded with Hope quickly due to simillarly unconventional lifestyles of their parents - his mother Lydia raising him as a single parent by choice due to being an asexual and aromantic woman. Hope trusted him right away due to his incredible listening skills and ability to keep secrets - she quietly hopes that he forgets about Dora and Danica, opting to befriend her and her siblings instaed. She recently invited him and his mom over to their house. knowing that this guy is way more interested in electronics than he is in cooking, only wanting to attend the class to make Lydia, a well-known hommade pastry chef, proud.

The next student is a boy who has autism, but it isn’t at a level where it prohibits him from cooking. He absolutely loves cooking, especially unconventional recipes. His dad was a professional chef, even competing on Masterchef once. He was diagnosed with autism when he was a little kid, but his parents never gave him any special treatment. He has a service dog, Bruno, who is there to help him during the day sometimes. Bruno is a black lab and is loved by everyone, including Mr. Leland. He and Iosif have gotten along well for some reason, maybe because they sit by each other during class. His family has lived in the Marston area forever - his great grandparents attended Marston Junior High back in the day!

The 20th student is definitely comfortable in her and skin and unyielding when it comes to letting others opinions impact her. She loves baking - especially anything patisserie inspired, on account of being French-Canadian, having moved to the town just over two years ago - and discusses bold flavour combinations with Mr. Leland frequently, always wanting to expand her creativity. This aspect of her character is just as present in her other interests: she’s a keen musician who plays the harp and guitar, as well as currently learning how to embroider with the guide of her granny and older sister. She’s the youngest of three - her sister’s seventeen and they have a twenty-one year old brother, Etienne, who’s studying graphic design in Montreal - who loves with their mom, having lost her dad when she was only four. Deep down, it upsets her that she has very few memories of the man so beloved and well-respected, even with the scrapbook her mother put together for her - although she doesn’t express this much as the one thing that causes her to hold back is the fear of hurting those she cares about. This is strengthened by the fact she can’t abide being pitied - something she experienced a lot of growing up - and only really opens up to her two best friends: Charmain, who lives in Quebec City where she grew up, and her dearest friend in St. James’s Marsh who attends the same middle school, although she’s becoming closer with other members of their friend group. Heavily inspired by 90s culture, her aesthetic is right out of The Craft, blending academia with Goth and grunge undertones - and although she doesn’t particularly believe in wicca or magical practition on a deeper level, she does feel the element of water is one of meaning to her: taking both solace in its stillness and loving to go outdoor swimming. She’s pretty short and stockily built - taking after her mom in this regard - with a fair complexion that contrasts with the dark red birthmark on her left shoulder; hazel eyes and deep saffron coloured hair, with her sister having recently helped her dye the tips black to compliment her style. Dramatic makeup is what she’s increasingly favouring, especially when paired with vintage or unusual jewelry she thrifts on the regular.

Fitting in with her style more is how she finds nature captivating and tranquil - something she shares with her brother, as the natural world is what dominates his photography - often going for hikes with her family or just hanging out in the quiet forests located close to their apartment, reading the fictional novels she finds so captivating or trying her best to write poems to express her feelings (with mixed success, as she knows prose aren’t her forte). Her family’s two cats - both moggies named Zigzag ‘Zig’ and Talice - are adored by her, and their little romance is something she finds too precious, especially as Zig was a rescue and Talice’s company has given him a great deal of comfort.

The next boy tends to come off as hostile and resentful. His parents went through a messy divorce when he was 9, and he is still recovering. His mom and stepdad have full custody, and it’s not a harmonious household. Along with his parent and stepparent, he lives with a brother that’s 11 months younger, a sister that’s 3 years younger, and a stepsister that’s 6 months older. He just can’t find any peace. He’d like Mr. Leland’s class to be that, but his learning disability makes following recipes difficult.
His tan complexion, which used to be lovely, is riddled with cystic acne. He still has long lashes (thanks, Dad!) and dark brown eyes that draw comments. He’s going through a growth spurt, with accompanying growing pains, and thinning out, although he was a heavier kid. His curly hair is sandy blonde, and he likes to keep it short so people don’t touch it.
He tends to be pretty passive about friendships, but thinks Iosif and Luca seem mature and cool. He loves building models and lego kits - his room is filled with his favorite builds. He watches shows like Mythbusters voraciously, and thinks their experiments - especially the ones that involve dynamite - look like a lot of fun. He’s trying to figure out how to get some time with his bio dad, who will surely let him do something expolde-y.

The next student often comes off as pretty entitled to some. Always dressed in the best closed and with perfectly styled hair, he is a pretty recognisable rising TV personality. Flashy designer sweatshirts, neon gimmie caps and baggy jeans are a must in his wardrobe. His mother has always pushed him to fame and he appeared in his first movie when he was just 18 months old, playing the young son of the main character in a series called “Living The Blessed Life” which has been cancelled after just two seasons due to extremely mysogonistic undertones and harmful stereotyping of small-town women. Deep down he is rather introverted and his unpleasant behaviour is one that he developed as a coping mechanism to deal with being overscheduled. He only attends this class because he did not manage to get into the creative writing club - being a writer is his only true ambition, something he is too afraid to share with either parent and has only ever told that to people at school, knowing that parents show a complete lack of interest in his academic life. He is often snarky and disrespectful towards Mr. Leland, who shows nothing but patience to him and tries to make it appearent to him that by cooking, you can tell stories too. This teenager has recently gone through his first heartbreak after splitting up with Kierra Sloane from St. Veronica’s 8th Grade class . This has made him extremely bitter and angry but he is getting better due to writing about his emotions. He is making his zombie hunter characters, Shane and Gary, go through a massive storm and flood as a metaphor for the mess that he is going through. Oz and Everett think his story is incredibly cool and want to see bits of it played out as short skits on his TikTok. He pretends it’s a stupid idea but in reality begins to seriously consider it. For now, he wants to stay away from any girls though, as they now seem scarier than zombies!

Summary

The next student is a very boisterous and outgoing 14 year old. She absolutely loves attending an all-girls school, despite the fact there aren’t any cute guys for her to stare at during class. She has her fair share of boy drama though, as she’s the only one in her friend group who has ever dated someone. She often gets in trouble with Ms. Lambros for talking wayyyy too much during school, but that’s not her fault, she just has so much on her mind! Anyways, she has a very care-free personality. This student is a practicing Catholic and has a younger sister who also attends St. Veronica’s.

The next student has a determined streak - one that’s now applied to their goal of transforming traditionally unpopular ingredients into tasty dishes. Recently they revealed their non-binary identity, something that they found was helped due to being known by a nickname that comes from their surname and isn’t gendered in a conventional sense. Their younger sister, Dahlia - who’s known as ‘Dolly’ affectionately, often asks then lots of questions which some would consider intrusive - but she’s only four and her older siblings is always patient in the wake of this, knowing Dolly only means best; something that surprises certain people, as they’re often quite feisty. In spite of thibs, they’re inherently resilient and optimistic in their own way: having been inspired by their parents who overcame the odds and tribulations of having them (their firstborn) while young and always putting their children first - in spite of the judgment and scrutiny this caused. They actually have a technical stepmother - after their dad briefly got married while working on his masters degree in marine biology - but their’s no relationship between them and her, with it being well-known she refuses to get divorced solely to spite her ex and his partner: something that sparked this students interest in law, and now they’re a true crime fanatic and devour mystery novels avidly.

Dressing in a cottagecore aesthetic with an emphasis on soft and flowing fabrics that allow them to easily get about about their bike, they’ve got hazel coloured hair typically tied into small braids or a pair of space buns and dark grey eyes, as well as slightly pointed ears which they’re surprisingly proud of. They’re the doting owner of two gerbils - Custard and Marmalade - who’s cage they renovated with the help of their mom, an accomplished metal worker who works primarily in upcycling. Often in class they hang out with Ren - one of their closest friends - or Ava, making sure to tone down their outspokeness around the latter to stop her feeling pressured or uncomfortable.

The next girl is friends with Mireya; they love trading snacks from their cultures, with Mireya bringing tembleque and mallorcas, and this student bringing some of her favorite banchan, including spicy radish salad. She is Korean-American, with her paternal great-grandparents and maternal grandparents having emigrated. Her parents are an audiologist and a hospitality instructor at the local community college. She’s 5’3, with a square jawline, button nose, and bright brown eyes. She wears her sleek black hair back in a bun, leaving a teeny braid out separate in the front, usually on both sides of her part. She loves fashion, tending to dress in femme looks - usually cottagecore, but sometimes mixing it up with soft prep style, spending the money she earns from her dog walking and babysitting businesses. As girly as she is, when she’s out on the soccer field, she is all business. She’s hoping to make the varsity team her freshman year, having played since she was 4. Tennis is her other favorite sport, which she practices 3 days a week. Her older brother is 16, and has been in charge of driving her to and from practice. Their oldest brother is away at school for his freshman year of college, studying biochemistry.

The 26th student is the son of a scientist, and this analytical approach to life has rubbed off on how he goes about cookery. Although he’s a stickler to following recipes, they tend to be the kind he himself has invented and created at home: which has led to some bizarre flavour combinations but also some great successes. If anything, you can’t deny he’s resilient and imaginative, attributing a lot of this to his dad, who raised him as a single parent after his mother passed away when he was only a few months old. Sometimes he feels guilty for envying his classmates with siblings and talks to Mr. Leland about this, who assures him it’s understandable, as his childhood could be somewhat lonely when his dad was tied up with work. He mostly resembles his late mother, having wavy golden blonde hair and blue-green eyes, but has the dimpled smile of his dad; and proudly owns an acid wash jacket he decorated himself with patches collected at varying museums and science fairs he attends with his dad. His style tends to be influenced by 90s beach style and he’s a huge fan of the band Sublime in particular, his dad having gifted him a shirt he actually got at one of their concerts. Chemistry is his strongest subject, considerably more so than cookery (as the added structure means he doesn’t sometimes create some clashing outcomes), but this never dampens his passion, nor his unwavering belief in having multiple passions and interests at once opposed to being stuck in a box; a saying his mom used to tell his dad all the time, and by using it in life, he feels closer to her.

The next student is a pescetarian who primarily cooks with seafood, wanting to make it more accessible and accepted by others. Unlike some of their classmates, the culinary arts are what they know they want to pursue fully, with a dream of following Mr. Leland’s foosteps and making their own ebooks. They’re genderfluid and go by a nickname they chose themselves, primarily using they pronouns - which thankfully their peers have accepted and been gracious of, helped along by their best friend Declan. Within their family their has been some difficulties with this though - namely their paternal grandparents are very conservative, not approving of their own son’s job as a a musician and they weren’t delighted when this students older sister came out as pansexual, so this revelation has furthered the gap between them. Often they feel guilty at the relief this brings, as the judgment and passive aggression severely affected their confidence: which their sister - 19 year old Noemi, who has her own Depop jewelry business - has tried to quell by helping them dye their hair a lovely shade of lavender and helping them overhaul their wardrobe to reflect their identity, incorporating a lot of cloudcore and pearly statement pieces into this process. Their greatest confident is their mom, Lucy - a librarian and preschool teacher who’s known for her very compassionate nature, which is actually what led to her and her husband Travis marrying. This student is also the proud owner of a Syrian hamster named Winnie who they make treats for often, and their dad helps them make customisations to her cage, which is now something of a sprawling palace. Out of all their favoured ingredients, they’re particularly fond of squid and octopus - which horrified some of their classmates - but these reactions only make them more determined in their endeavour, and they’re working on cooking the perfect calamari to win everyone over. Their tenacity is overshadowed by their shy nature and tendency to keep to themselves in class, although recently they have become closer to Ren.

The next child is a boy who, despite his young age, is very interested in social problems, as well as the way humans work in a group. He volounteers at an animal shelter and does charity work with his parents and older sister. He spends most of his free time in the library reading about what interests him, which makes him inevetably fall behind when it comes to regular schoolwork.

East Marsh Academy, 12th grade Philosophy class
(17-18 year olds, 25 students)

The teacher of this philosophy class is a Black man in his early 30s. He’s handsome, easy to talk to, and very caring about his students. He can be counted on to write excellent college recommendations. He’s made the decision to represent his political beliefs in the classroom with nods to the Black Lives Matter movement in his decor, but he is also keeping things professional. Because his class is philosophy, discussions can get heated sometimes, especially when he asks his students to apply the theories to their modern-day lives. He practices de-escalation techniques with them, and hopes that they can learn these techniques for themselves. He also introduces Eastern philosophies in the class, as he has studied Buddhism for several years.
He was raised by a single mother, being the 3rd of 4 children. He held jobs that required a lot of elbow grease when he was in high school, and he looks out for his students who are in a similar situation. The expectation in his family was that he was going to go to college, and he went to a prestigious school, majoring in philosophy and education, and minoring in social work. He is still close to his older sister, while the 2 other siblings moved out of state.
Our teacher identifies as bisexual, and it’s important to him to be involved in relationships. He lives with his Australian Red Heeler, Sassafrass (nn Sassy) and his boyfriend, Aleksander. They have lived together for a year and a half, and are a contrast in many ways - with Leks being interested in gadgets and technology, a bit spacey and closed off, and a messy sort.

Mr. Ernest " Nesta " Christopher Tulloch "Mr. Nesta "

The first student in this class comes from a wealthy background and has been attending voice lessons since she was eight in hopes of becoming an opera singer. She took this class to gain points and attend a prestigious college focused on music and humanities. She’s severly withdrawn in class. She never contributes to the discussion and endlessly doodles on the side of her notebook. In spite of that she has a lot of insight and opinions which shows in her carefully reasearched assigments and willingness to ask Mr. Nesta for sources to read after class. He wants her to express opinions more freely but she is strongly convinced that there is no point in that, as her worldview would immediately be dismissed because she was born into privilege.

Besides that, she admits that she has major issues concerning envy and anger and is not extactly sure she would be able to keep her composure during heated discussion , as she often blows up at her 3 younger sisters over the smallest inconviniences. It particurarly infuriates her if they dare to borrow and then crease the dresses that she uses for singing performances - mostly cocktail dresses in darker colors such as crimson or dark purple, to which she often adds acessories associated with the rococo period , such as white gloves or excessively decorated wigs.

She tries to deal with her negative personality traits with the help of her therapist, Graham. She’s exceptionally envioius of her younger collegue - Bee Leavell , who got noticed by Kelso Pendry’s mother, an opera singer, due to her low voice in the contralto range. As a true crime fanatic, this girl made a facebook page in which she shared hateful memes and maliciously edited videos comparing Bee to Elizabeth Holmes - most notably, compared their deep voices and styles of clothing to each other. She accused Bee of using the same tactic as the infamous CEO allegedly did - namely faking her contralto. According to this girl, Bee would do that in order to charm small business owners into giving her discounts when she organized events for High Velocity or seniors at the nursing home. That page was found by the school administration and this girl got suspended for over 2 weeks for severe yet secretive bullying. The girl has since realised how much she messed up. She let her envy of Beatrice 's mentorship or natural range blind her own appreaciation of the professional help she gets from her own voice coach and her beautifully trained mezzo-soprano. While Beatrice and Kelso have largely forgiven her, the local community has not. She has become persona non grata in most of the school’s social circles and stopped using her beloved rococopunk aesthetic to stay unnoticed. She pretty much only has Mr. Nesta and two other close friends supporting her - one of them in this class.

The 14th student is a girl who is very known for her naturally low voice which sits in the contralto range. Sometimes it bothers her because she tends to get mistaken for a man, especially by older folks - who she has frequent contact with due to volounteering at a nursing home ever since she lost her paternal grandparents in a tragic car crash. Naturally warm and caring, she has a good head on her shoulders and loves organising parties or events for seniors at the place where she volounteers. She also has a keen interest in fashion - especially being into the corporate, suit-and-tie-for-women aesthetic which she feels completes her overall organised and quiet nature. Because of her voice and style she is often regarded as boring at best or cold and souless at worst. Very few people can see through that - Pomeline Newman, her best friend, being one of them. Recently through Pomeline and Thorn. this girl has met Kelso Pendry and found a deep connection to him, admiring his goal to become a substance counselor and bonding over losing loved ones. The girl became involved in finding venues and booking events for High Velocity to play at, just for the sake of further befriending Kelso. It feels good to finally have found someone who understands her. She is determined to strengthen the friendship and for now chooses to ignore butterflies in her stomach. She’s way too put-together for stupid teenage infatuation.

@kitkatcookie Finally managed to reference my favourite true crime case directly, yay! But also created the first character that I have a love-hate relationship with!

  1. Thomasina " Tommy " Claudette Overro-Lakeley

The second student is Tommy’s close friend and a fellow outcast, with the two’s friendship baffling many up until the scandal surrounding Tommy. She’s considered a delinquent by many - including some teachers, although they won’t say it aloud - on account of skipping classes when she feels like it, smoking on school grounds and arguing frequently with anyone who gets on her nerves: which isn’t always a difficult thing. Unlike Tommy she’s considered more of a “typical” manifestation of her personality type, her father being in prison for armed robbery, mother having abandoned her two children shortly after his conviction and their legal guardian - their maternal granny, Yvonne Sallinger - often finds herself preoccupied with her younger grandchild and this girl’s brother, who’s fourteen and has severe ADHD that means he requires a lot of support. Although she claims she enjoys her independence, she’s prone to self-isolating and never speaks about her feelings openly, unless it’s an expression of annoyance or a desire to be alone. She attends counseling at school but is still struggling to open up - having dealt with a lot of trauma on account of retaining vivid memories of her parents turbulent relationship and substance abuse issues - however Mr. Nesta’s class is allowing her to process her feelings in unique ways she finds beneficial. Often she’ll find an excuse to hang around after class to chat with him, usually about seemingly mundane topics, but it’s his kindness and consistent listening ear that make so much difference to her.

At 5’10" she’s very slim and quick, being a talented hockey player - although her rebellious nature means she’s been banned from the school team more than once. Her style is serious 90s/early 2000s grunge (featuring cargo pants, mesh sleeved tops, maxi skirts and platform boots) and her fine, straight, hazel brown hair is often worn mostly loose - with an exception of the odd bandana or braiding to expose more of her features: being very pasty in her complexion and her dark green eyes are intense when met. She’s got her naval pierced alongside her septum and - although it’s usually hidden - a dragonfly tattoo over her right ribs, the origins of which are classified information. Aside from hockey and running, she enjoys photography - typically finding beauty in unusual, bleak places that she feels a personal connection to; or listening to podcasts about psychology and mental health. Occasionally she’ll hear from her mom - who’s exact whereabouts are unclear to the family - and this always worsens her behaviour and attitude, typically sparking her bunking periods or just being snappish and withdrawn. Tommy and their other closest friend suspect she’s dealing with depression - based on her habit of sometimes sleeping for hours, missing school thanks to this some days - and deep down she agrees, but doesn’t want to get diagnosed yet as she’s afraid of worrying her granny, who she feels deals with enough as it is. Although some consider her moody, gruff demeanor scary, she’s an excellent listener when needs be and does her best to support Tommy considering recent events - as while she doesn’t approve of what happened, she does understand her friends’ feelings, especially those based in anger.

@moonwriteen Ahh the plot thickens and I love the added complexities! Seriously Tommy is brilliant in how you’ve crafted her with ties to the case which I must check out!

The next student is fairly new on the social scene, having moved to the town from San Francisco just over a year ago after his mom got an offer to become a head anesthesiologist at the local hospital. Alongside a change in location, the move also allowed his mom’s girlfriend, Kate, to move in with the family for the first time and he handle this well, although the lack of extra space has annoyed his 14 year old brother considerably more. His typically easygoing demeanor is rivaled by his fierce love of philosophy and debate, having joined the school team where he loves hearing others opinions and thankfully never takes offense when discussions get more heated, with Mr. Nesta’s de-escalation techniques helping this endeavour of his even more so. Seapunk is his chosen aesthetic, and to fit with this styling he dyed his hair recently: one half turquoise, the other sea foam green, a decision that compliments their pale blue eyes and tan complexion; often painting his nails to compliment the colour combination of his outfit. He’s biracial, mom being adopted from Taiwan when she was a baby and his estranged father is white, and sometimes he feels insecure about connecting with his maternal culture, primarily if others saw it as performative or insincere based on how long it’s taken him to work up the courage to begin asking.

The next student is the older sister of Ariel Perryn. She is thrilled that they chose to come out to her first, and feels like she is teaching her dad the new way of things. She is sharing her clothes with them, and just really happy that they figured out their gender identity - things were tough between them and their Dad beforehand, and they still are.
The student is an optimist, despite some painful things happening in her young life. She thinks she gets it from her paternal grandma, who was always loving and accepting, even when her interests didn’t align with old assumed gender roles - her Dad wanted her to be calm and inquisitive, while she always wanted to explore and take risks. She’s joined the Roller Derby youth team this year, and Ariel has been at all of her bouts. Roller derby takes up most of her free time, but she also loves to be the guinea pig when Ariel tries out new Mediterranean recipes, and she’ll scour YT for recipes they can make together.
Her hair is currently dyed dark violet on the ends, while the rest is medium brown. Her eyes are light brown, and she has small freckles sprinkled across her face. She is 5’9, and medium build. In school, she likes science and debate best, having noticed Ollie’s skills as soon as he entered the class! She’s excited about the philosophy class, and although she doesn’t think she will major in it, she sees how it’s going to be useful in college next year - she loves to write to impress.

The next student is Zandra’s friend from GSA. They are genderfluid, having been assigned male at birth. They have been wrestling with a recreation league since they were 10, and have complicated feelings about it. Tall and large for their age, they are used to being stared at. They recently bleached their hair and added a fuchsia stripe to their bangs, adding to the stares. They like to dress in A-line or asymmetrical skirts, or jeans or board shorts, and layered solid colored camisoles and tees on top. They know they push the boundaries, and that’s one of the reasons the school’s club has become so important to them - they feel less alone, and are stronger in their voice.

They and their younger and older sister are being raised by a single dad who had a long term partner when they were little, and since has been serially monogamous with several men. They lead a comfortable middle class life in a lot of ways. Their older sister has been the most accepting, giving fashion tips, and they’ll even raid each others’ closets sometimes.

Their favorite cuisine is Mediterranean, and whenever Mr. Leland gives an assignment that lets the students put their own twist on it, you can expect to taste a lot of tahini, cumin, and bright acidic lemon from this student.

The next student is the older brother of Spencer Ventura from Mr. Bradley’s 6th grade class. He and Spencer seem like polar opposites in terms of personality, but they look so similar. Both of them have the long-ish wavy brown hair and piercing brown eyes. This student has two tattoos; one of them is a cross on his wrist and the other is a teddy bear after the family dog, Teddy. His skin is a caramely-color. He is very good at English and creative writing, but has been a bit bamboozled by philosophy class sometimes because of how unfamiliar it is to him. He and Ollie get along well even though they seem pretty different. This student has a girlfriend who is also in the class. The two of them started dating in 11th grade.

The next child is a total germaphobe. He or she wipes down their seat every day before class and sanitizes their hands before and after touching classroom items. Hygiene is very important to him or her (gender your choice).

The next student was motivated to study philosophy thanks to their dream of working with animals and an interest in learning about concepts that don’t relate to humanity directly. He’s always been someone more prone to keeping to himself - growing up on a very rural property his grandfather built, where he found it best to remain distant for others as a child to ensure he didn’t succumb to feelings of loneliness while at home. When his two siblings - eight year old brother and five year old sister - were born, this was a huge source of happiness to him as it meant he had company when his parents were busy; even if his brother’s insistence on copying him can be annoying sometimes. His dad’s very much a rugged outdoorsman type - a trait shared by the majority of his paternal family - but in spite of assumptions this clashes with his son’s more free spirited, introspective personality it actually allowed them to bond, as they both find nature incredibly peaceful and somewhere to take solace when needed. Most people consider his house the ideal location to host parties, but he rarely does this, considering his home somewhere best to relax in - and as it’s inherited, he doesn’t want to disrespect all of his late grandfather’s work by hosting constant get together’s. It is the best place to have chill hangouts though, his room being in the attic and overlooking the forest where both his parents work as rangers - with him allowing his friends’ to decorate the walls in murals he considers to have meaning based on those he’s close to contributing to them. Thanks to how laissez-faire he comes across, this genuine sentimentality was a surprise to even Mr. Nesta - but he’s been nothing but supportive of this students’ high opinions of those he cares about, and encourages him to not feel embarrassed by this.

Easily identifiable on account of his beloved afghan coat and untamed, whispy hair which is dyed platinum blonde (from its natural caramel brown); he’s tall and slender, with dark grey eyes that sometimes border on black when he wears a lot of said colour. His sense of style incorporates elements of both 90s grunge and new age - with baggy clothes being favoured by him on account of their comfiness. Having just turned eighteen he intends on getting a tattoo but hasn’t figured out what yet, instead settling on his septum piercing and double studded earlobes for now. Somewhat awkwardly he’s a good friend of Kelso Pendry, meaning he and Tommy tend to avoid one another, which upset him a bit as he used to talk with Saph a fair bit but now that’s understandably difficult. His mom’s advised him to try and move past it as Kelso and Bee have, but he struggles - especially as the latter was the first person he confided in when he suspected he was dyslexic, which was later confirmed after he got properly tested at fifteen. Aside from nature and impromptu artistic creations, he’s a huge fan of medieval history interestingly enough - considering the workings of society fascinating, even if the archaic views completely contrast with his free thinking outlook on life. He’s openly pansexual and his significant other’s nonbinary, with the pair having met while attending their younger sister’s dance recital, sticking out thanks to being the eldest older siblings there who weren’t also participating. Thanks to their lifestyle his family own numerous pets, but his favourite are the two rescue elderly chickens they keep: Dorcas and Malvina.

The next girl has been waiting her whole high school career for this class. She is average height and lean, with wavy light blonde hair that tends to frizz up. She wears glasses with thick black frames that accentuate her blue eyes. She loves to knit and crochet, having learned from her mom, and often wears cardigans and dusters that are hand knit - if not by her, at least from someone she knows. She’s also been known to yarn bomb local trees, benches, and statues - it was her idea to give sweaters to the hedgehogs outside the children’s zoo! She is creative and observant, and generally takes in more information than she shares. Her friends are used to it. She lives with her mom and her dad. Her mom, besides knitting, also is a conductor with the youth orchestra. She was disappointed when her daughter showed the most interest in percussion, but now applauds her drum playing. Her dad works as an office administrator in a prominent architecture firm. They love to go on ‘architecture tours’ of the nearby neighborhoods, and she is developing an eye for just what styles she likes and doesn’t like, with the ability to critique what she sees thoughtfully. She’s not sure where she’s going to go for school, but she knows it needs to have a creative community, because that’s what she’s always drawn to.

This next student is Ollie’s first friend at East Marsh and neighbor. He isn’t into the Seapunk aesthetic but respects a creative person. He is the captain of the school’s ice hockey team and is the first in his family to play a sport competitively. His mom is a curator at the modern art museum and his father was a drummer in a mildly successful rock and roll band turned music therapist. He loves ice hockey and has an offers from two D1 schools to play. This Philosophy class fit with his schedule the best but he’s really enjoying it. He plans to study sports management but has been toying with a chemistry major as well. He’s considers pharmaceuticals as his back up plan if ice hockey doesn’t work out. Having needed western medicine for various injuries, he’s interested in how they get developed . His athletic frame compliments his long curly hair for that lumberjack look. He didn’t mean to have a man bun, the man bun found him. He is a positive guy and likes to talk to everyone, his teachers might say a little too much.
