She’s made a couple of friends in that class, but one of her classmates feels more than just a friend. She desperately wanted to do right by her mom until she realized that [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] never did right by her for once in her life , after suffering a mental breakdown in the university bathroom and having an emergency one-on-one second with the psychologist. Now, she wants to become an orthopedist for herself rather than for her mom and bring good healthcare to people. [name_f]Devina[/name_f] was the first person that she opened up to about her fascination with 18th century historical figures, particularly [name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]. Being encouraged by her, she embraced that interest again and now she goes to campus dressed in the rococopunk aesthetic like she always wanted , also having limited contact with her mom. She has a modelling vlog where she shares her cosplays of 18th century historical figures and modern-day interpretations of the outfits. She often talks to [name_u]Devi[/name_u] about becoming a model and brining rococopunk to magazine covers. Her newfound confidence is the reason why [name_f]Ulyssia[/name_f] started seeming like more than a friend to [name_f]Devina[/name_f]. [name_f]Ulyssia[/name_f] is currently questioning her sexuality and wants to reach out for advice from one openly gay guy that she knows from the reenactment group , but she doesn’t want him to feel like she’s reducing him to his sexuality. [name_f]Ulyssia[/name_f] genuinely admires the guy not only for his contributions to the LGBTQIA+ community, but also incredible, historically accurate fashion sense and a wide range of knowledge of 18th century history, from the [name_u]Seven[/name_u] Years War all the way to the [name_u]French[/name_u] Revolution.
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] Lampshire (19) is Ulyssia’s cousin and an aspiring fashion designer. For a little while, [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] and [name_f]Ulyssia[/name_f] didn’t have much contact due to her aunt [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] being a dysfunctional human being. They’ve gotten a lot closer now, though— and [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] was very pleasantly surprised that she and [name_f]Ulyssia[/name_f] got along so well.
The program that Chelsea’s in is very competitive, but she’s managed to forge a very tight-knit friend group that’s not falling apart any time soon. In the midst of working to become the next greatest thing, she’s just happy she’s found a support system that’s got her back.
[name_f]Beata[/name_f] " [name_f]Tati[/name_f] " [name_f]Keris[/name_f] [name_m]Jenkins[/name_m] (19) is one of Chelsea’s close friends from the program and fellow hopeful fashion designer. Coming from a family known for having lots of parties, get togethers and closeness, [name_f]Tati[/name_f] sometimes felt overshadowed growing up - which led to her developing a very sociable nature at school, where she felt she could fully express herself and have a chance as an individual. Some people might see her as an attention seeker due to how chatty and gregarious she is, but Tati’s been doing her best to dial this back as she doesn’t want to seem overbearing (a trait she absolutely fears, associating it with her grandma, who’s very nosey).
[name_f]Tati[/name_f] ended a long-term relationship recently, with her high school sweetheart who she was really close to, and her friends have been helping cheer her up in the wake of this. She’d hoped they could overcome the distance between them but unfortunately it took it’s toll and he admitted he couldn’t go on with things. Although one of her friends wants to take her speed dating (ironically perhaps), [name_f]Tati[/name_f] doesn’t feel at all ready, and is much happier going on trips out or to parties with the group.
Wendell Gregory Lampshire (44) is another piece of the puzzle when it comes to Chelsea’s support system. He is not only Chelsea’s dad , but also the neighbour of Tati’s grandmother. Even though he has been a farmer his whole life and doesn’t really understand much about fashion , he supports Chelsea unconditionally in pursuing her dream to become a fashion designer and is glad that she has the support of her friends when doing it - especially Tati , because he trusts her the most with her daughter and is a friend of the Jenkins family. He supplies Tati 's grandmother Gloria with fresh vegetables from the farm whenever he can - even if Gloria is a little noesy and asks too many questions about how vegetables grow for him to be able to anwser at once.
He is especially happy that Chelsea got in contact with her cousin Ulyssia. There is a feeling of relief in knowing that Ulyssia got away from the toxic grip of his sister Yvonne, who has always been disfunctional and an expert at humiliating others - especially Wendell himself, who experienced bullying from his sister in childhood because of his weight and later down the line when he was belittled for choosing the profession of a farmer. He often wishes he had done more to help Ulyssia find a healthier environment to live in, especially now that the full extend of his sister’s emotional abuse towards her daughter has been reveald through Chelsea 's talks with him. However, he is hopeful for the future of both his daughter and niece - especially now that a young guy from Tennessee started working on his farm and Wendell is convinced that he would be an amazing son-in-law, subtly trying to play matchmaker between him and Chelsea.
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] Yoojung Robinson-Lee (19) lives down the road from [name_u]Wendell[/name_u] and is part of Chelsea’s support system. As both her parents were famous actors, [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] has been thrust into the spotlight ever since she was little. She was a child actress, appearing in a couple of big-name movies before deciding to stay a little kid for a little longer.
Being half-Korean and half-white, [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] faced discrimination when she was younger, often being told by Korean kids that she was “too white” for them, and being told the opposite by white children. [name_f]Tati[/name_f] was her first friend in elementary school, and they’ve been very close ever since. [name_f]Tati[/name_f] is also the person that encouraged [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] to pursue her dream of becoming a makeup artist, and gave [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] the final push to post her intricate looks online. Ironically, this act, too, pushed her back into the spotlight, and she’s a little overwhelmed right now.
[name_u]Rain[/name_u] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] Whitfield (19) is a dear friend of [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] who met her while they were both working as child actresses. Unlike [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_u]Rain[/name_u] came from a much more pedestrian family in terms of accomplishments, but unfortunately also had the ultimate stage mother who was determined to see her obtain stardom. Her dad was no help on this front either, agreeing with his wife and acting as a passive support to her, meaning it took [name_u]Rain[/name_u] getting in a big row with her mom on a film set to free her from this lifestyle when she was thirteen. Since then, Rain’s been focusing on sculpture and painting, her two true passions that give her piece of mind, even while her mom clearly disapproves of this change in direction for her.
As a practical only child, Rain’s friendship with [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] meant a lot to her, as her much older brother seemed distant from things. In reality, he felt pushed out by their parents actions and envied her for what he perceived as favouritism, but [name_u]Rain[/name_u] reaching her breaking point opened his eyes to the truth. Now she’s actually living with him, his partner and their young son, loving being an aunt, attending art school and going on sibling outings with him where they go abseiling. Their relationship was rocky when they were both growing up— [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] felt as if their mother cared for [name_u]Rain[/name_u] more— but they’re now closer than they’ve ever been. He now realises [name_u]Rain[/name_u] had an unfair amount of pressure put on her that [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] wouldn’t ever wish on anybody else. They both don’t talk to their parents now, so that’s been a positive addition in their lives.
[name_u]Ryan[/name_u] has met his partner when they were freshmen in university, and got married three years later. They now have a son, [name_u]August[/name_u], whom [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] dotes over and swears to not make the same mistakes that his parents did. Recently, [name_u]August[/name_u] has shown vague interest in sculpting, leading [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] to make jokes that [name_u]August[/name_u] was going to take after his Aunt [name_u]Rain[/name_u] more than he was going to take after his father.
[name_u]January[/name_u] [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] Schelling (24) is Ryan’s partner and August’s mother. Using she/they pronouns, January’s upbringing was very different to Ryan’s which he found refreshing given his trauma. [name_m]Born[/name_m] to second generation hippies, [name_u]January[/name_u] and their siblings - two sisters and two brothers - were raised in a communal environment that emphasised growing your own produce, protecting animals and using yoga and meditation to maintain peace of mind. [name_u]January[/name_u] left the nest to become a music journalist but loves their family dearly and is always happy to take [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] and [name_u]Rain[/name_u] there - not being embarrassed by the unusual environment or less common beliefs (but she isn’t quite a health food nut yet).
They already think they’d like another child - loving growing up as the third of five kids - but want to give [name_u]August[/name_u] time enjoying being with his aunt and parents, spending a lot of their time reading to him thanks to how much literature and writing means to them. A few times January’s stopped their son bothering Avacado too much, as the little boy’s convinced he’s somehow got magical properties and can speak, something [name_u]Rain[/name_u] finds absolutely hilarious.
[name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] Whitefield (4) is [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] and [name_u]January[/name_u] 's son. He attends the local preschool and is one of the more sociable kids , inviting nearly everyone to play and being incredibly smiley. He is especially fascinated by Play-Doh, that’s why his father jokes that he takes heavily after aunt [name_u]Rain[/name_u] and her interest in scalpture.
He loves to be read to and wishes he could read by himself , however he is currently just getting to know the alphabet. Being a huge bookworm, he will not fall asleep without [name_u]January[/name_u] 's bedtime story. [name_u]January[/name_u] 's experience with being raised in a commune taught him that sharing is caring. [name_u]August[/name_u] also knows that everyone deserves acceptance even if they look different from you, that’s why he recently made friends with a girl who recently emigrated from [name_f]China[/name_f] and now calls her a “best friend” despite the girl still learning [name_f]English[/name_f] and being quite shy.
[name_u]October[/name_u] " [name_u]Toby[/name_u] " [name_f]Hope[/name_f] Schelling (17) is the youngest of the Schelling siblings and aunt of [name_u]August[/name_u]. She’s visited [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] and [name_u]January[/name_u] a few times, although she’s not quite used to the idea of being an aunt. [name_u]Toby[/name_u], just like their older sister, uses she/they pronouns.
Recently, Toby’s been struggling on figuring out what they want to do in the future. Although their parents don’t pressure them into something they don’t want to do, [name_u]Toby[/name_u] feels as if they’re stuck in between two things that they really like. On one hand, she really is interested in biology and could see herself as a scientist or a doctor, but history has always been something of interest to [name_u]Toby[/name_u], and she really wants to pursue that, too. Her best friend has always suggested doing a double major, but Toby’s afraid she’s not going to be able to do that, either.
At school, [name_u]Toby[/name_u] isn’t necessarily popular, but they aren’t an outcast— they’ve got four friends that they love dearly— and they’re happy staying that way.
Everard Wilmot Kempton (21) is the guy who advised Toby on double majoring in history and biology. He himself lived near the commune of hippie people where the Schelling family resided but not exactly within it - given that his parents owned a farm near the land belonging to the commune. He is sure that his parents’ interest in history and living near the commune are two things that made him the “free spirit” that he is today - expressing himself freely and encouraging others to embrace the multitudes of their own interests & identities.
Everard 's mother was always a positive influence in his life - having been a medival history professor who changed her job in favour of living on a farm like she’d always wanted, she met the love of her life taking this bold step and always taught her son to follow his heart. In spite of giving her son two medival names , she was happy when he took more interest in the history of the 18th century and began hosting historical reenactments of the 1780s French court on their farmland. The first person who joined into the fan and began reenacting with Everard turned out to later become his boyfriend - and although his mother was shocked at the news and had hoped for his son to have a wife & “naturally aquired” children, she of course accepted him and has since come to understand that LGBTQIA+ people can have their own families, too. Everard 's happy that both the on-line community of history freaks as well as the real-life events are getting ever more traction , especially in the circle of his university - where, in spite of his interests , he opted for Chemical Engineering because science seemed like a more lucrative field to him. The lastest additions to his circle - Devina Khatri and Ulyssia Lampshire had recently participated in their first real-life historical reenactment and had a lot of fun. He also had prior contact with them through the group discord server for several months before the meeting. Throughout that time he developed a rather strong friendship with Ulyssia and felt honored that she admitted to questioning her sexuality to him. The trust she had in him is something he hopes to never break. He’s overjoyed that he helped Ulyssia ultimately come to the conclusion that she’s bisexual, and Ulyssia ultimately gained the courage to say “yes” when Devina asked her out, being able to choose her own happiness over fear of her mother’s judgment and homophobia.
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Athena[/name_f] Volkov (17) is Everard’s cousin and a classmate of [name_u]Toby[/name_u]. They don’t go in the same circles, but they say hi to each other sometimes in the hallway. The president of the school’s fashion club, [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] wants to either be a fashion designer or a model. The ideal world would have her be both, but she knows the chances of that are miniscule.
Her closest friends are those in the fashion club’s executive team, and [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] knows it’s not a good thing to be cliquey, but they haven’t let anyone in since.
Hannah Willodean Edgerton (17) is one of Olympia 's three closest friends. She is part of the Fashion club’s executive team. She took an interest in fashion because she wanted to break away from the “nerd” label. Hannah wanted to prove that she can be fashionable even if she devotes most of her time to studies and wears glasses.
She is regarded as quite the stereotypical “basic white girl” because she enjoys Starbucks coffee and social media. Like Olympia , she is quite the cliquey person and very careful about who has information about the fashion club and who doesn’t. She can even be regarded as quite the mean girl , because she constantly initiates rivarly between the fashion club and the school newspaper where Lauren Hernandez and Rory Blackwell participate - being in the most conflict, however, with the middle sister of the Lee family who’s a graphic designer in the newspaper. She simply thinks her designs are hoplessly ugly and stand no chance against Hannah 's own digital art.
The reason why she’s so cliquey and attached to her friendgroup above all else is because her own family life is kind of messy. Her father had recently moved to Iowa to live with his new partner after her parents’ divorce while her older brother is studying to become a carpenter and move in with his girlfriend, Angelica , who for some reason absolutely despises Hannah. As such, she feels like she has no support system outside of school and everyone in her family is too caught up in their own drama to pay attention to her.

It’s not a well-hidden secret that [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] somewhat dislikes [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]— the way the other girl projects her feelings onto others makes [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] feel as if [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] is overcompensating for something. Siobhan’s not sure of what that something is, but she damn sure knows that Hannah’s being very immature about it. Her personal relationships with [name_u]Lauren[/name_u] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] are civil— she mostly cleans up Hannah’s mess and had to apologise for Hannah’s shenanigans. She wishes that [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] returns to the girl she first became friends with, but [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] is not sure that’s going to happen any time soon.
Siobhan’s maturity stems from being the eldest child of four with a single father. Because her mum died when she was four, she quickly had to step up to the plate of “mother” for some of her siblings. Her father, [name_u]Liam[/name_u], feels extraordinarily bad for this unintentional parentification, and has been trying to mend their relationship.

Mira’s birth caused many conflicts between [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] and her father, but [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] and [name_f]Mira[/name_f] have become best friends in a sense. [name_f]Mira[/name_f] has become the joy of Siobhan’s life, and they are inseperable. Mira’s favorite past-time is modeling the cute outfits that her big sis sews for her.
[name_f]Blanca[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] Serrano-Moore (24) is [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f] 's caretaker at the nursery. She has just finished her [name_u]Early[/name_u] Childhood Education degree and this is her first job out of college. [name_f]Blanca[/name_f] loves the job , even if she admits that it’s incredibly demanding and most of the time she doesn’t have the energy to do anything besides watching Netflix after a whole day of taking care of the kids.
She has always loved children and babysat for the kids of neighbours frequently when she was growing up in spite of being an only child. Her mother [name_f]Pauline[/name_f] and father [name_m]Sergio[/name_m] always emphasised to her the importance of the local community, that’s why she treated the kids in the neighbourhood as if they were siblings and was always kind to neighbours - even if they annoyed her by , let’s say , mowing the lawn at 6 PM and not allowing her to have a peaceful afternoon in the garden.
She is staunchly independent - she always cooks for herself and refuses to eat out, despite what other people assume about her purely because of her weight. Well, traditional Mexican food is not exactly free from calories, sorry not sorry!
She dreams of a big family and is on a good path to that , because her long term boyfriend who she met as a freshman at college has just proposed to her this past week with a citrine engagement ring. She cried upon recieving it because she couldn’t believe that he remembered such a small detail as her favourite colour - yellow. However, he didn’t have to pay much attention. Being a professionla photographer, he helps her in the side hustle of being a plus-size model and can easily notice that she always incorporates something yellow in her outfits.
