Part 1 here: Welcome to Hogwarts - Year 1
Part 2 here: Welcome to Hogwarts - Year 2
Part 4 here: Welcome to Hogwarts - Year 4
Dear Mr/Ms/Mx (Surname),
Enclosed is the list of all necessary books and equipment for your third year at Hogwarts. Quidditch tryouts will be listed on your common room’s message board, check there for the dates of tryouts. You must try out, even if you were on the team last year. Third years on up are allowed to have three extracurricular activities (including Quidditch), so if you are only a part of two, please feel free to join a third activity, if you so choose. The list of extracurriculars has grown slightly as well.
This year you will be choosing your elective classes! Enclosed is the list of all applicable electives for Third years; keep in mind the classes you choose as you will be enrolled in them until the end of your Fifth year/your O.W.L. exams. Choose wisely.
Term begins September 1. I hope this letter finds you well.
Yours sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall
Headmistress
Welcome back to Hogwarts! I hope that things you’ve learned over the years haven’t all escaped you over summer break! We do have some changes for this round, beginning with elective courses!
- Arithmancy
- Care of Magical Creatures
- Divination
- Muggle Studies
- Mythology
- Study of Ancient Runes
Your student needs to choose 2-3 electives to join for the next few years (to make it more random, you can roll 1d6 to see which classes your student takes). If your student has gotten all E’s and O’s from past years, they do have the capability of applying for a Time Turner to take two extra classes, but ONLY those with all E’s and O’s.
If you applied for a Time Turner, roll 1d6. Evens – approved; Odds – not approved.
Students are no longer required to take Flying Lessons, but to be included on the Quidditch team, they must still try out (yes, even if they were on the team last year). But fret not, those who were on a team the previous year do have a higher chance of rejoining the team.
Quidditch tryout dates are now posted in your respective common rooms. The dates are as follows:
September 3rd-4th: Gryffindor
September 10th-11th: Ravenclaw
September 17th-18th: Slytherin
