Part 1: Welcome to Hogwarts - Year 1
Part 2: Welcome to Hogwarts - Year 2
Part 3: Welcome to Hogwarts - Year 3
Part 4: Welcome to Hogwarts - Year 5
Dear Mr/Ms/Mx (Surname),
Enclosed is the list of all necessary books and equipment for your fourth year at Hogwarts. Quidditch tryouts will be listed on your common room’s message board, make sure to check there for the dates of tryouts. If you wish to play, you must try out, even if you were on the team last year. As a reminder, fourth years are allowed to have three extracurricular activities (including Quidditch), so if you’re still only a part of two activities, please feel free to join a third activity.
This year you will be continuing your elective classes from third year, in preparation for your Ordinary Wizarding Levels, or O.W.L.s. You will find the curriculum this year is more difficult, so be prepared to study harder than previous years.
Term begins September 1. I hope this letter finds you well.
Yours sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall
Headmistress
Welcome back to your fourth year at Hogwarts! I hope that you all are ready to study your butts off in preparation for your O.W.L.’s next year!
The only extra information for this year you need to know concerns Time Turners: if you had one last year for your extra courses, you need to roll 1d6 to verify you’re still able to use one. If you are not approved, you need to drop enough courses to return to 2-3 electives.

Much like your third year, to be included on your house’s Quidditch team, you must still try out. Fret not, for just like last year, if you were on the team previously, you do have a higher chance of rejoining.
